Chapter 166: His Resting Place
Chapter 166: His Resting Place
Leander entered his house and when he saw everything where it meant to be, he let out a sigh of relief. He saw Martin sitting by the foyer and guessed that Lionel still hasn’t woken up.
Come to think of it, there were no articles of seeing drunken Lionel in the papers today, so Martin must have done his job.
Leander climbed over the stairs. Just as he reached the bedroom, he heard the door unlocking. He was surprised. Opening the door, he stepped in. He saw Viviana walking groggily back to the bed and smiled.
Viviana turned back hearing the door open. "You’re back," she smiled fixing her hair. "I just woke up..." she yawned.
Leander walked to her and hugged her. Resting his chin on her slender shoulder he leaned on her. Viviana patted his back. It looked like he had a not so good day.
Her mother used to advise her that most men prefer an understanding silence for them to gather themselves when they return home after a long day. Her mother also said that men prefer not to show their vulnerable emotions in front of their women and that they rarely talk about their feelings like a woman would want to. She would say that women really don’t like emotional men.
’It makes them dry’, she’d say. Viviana never understood what ’dry’ meant. But she would agree with her mother. She was a smart one and they had a good marriage.
Viviana decided to give her mother’s advice a go.
He is not most men, but he is her husband. So...she silently let him lean on her.
But then she smelled something on him. It was not the usual musky scent but something different, something pleasant...like a garden... like something a woman would wear.
He went to Venus Point!
A voice rang in her head like a hammer hitting on a nail. He was so close with a woman enough to have her scent lingering on his even after he left her place.
Hmm...right...
Her hand lost its strength, and she didn’t pat his back anymore. He was still leaning on her, acting like a tired husband needing attention from his wife.
Anger rose from the pit of her gut, and she wanted to tear him off of her. But she held herself back.
She is his wife, yes. But he is a Kastello.
This might be the first time he comes home bearing the scent of another woman, but it won’t be the last. He might even bring other women to this bed right here, right in front of her eyes.
And what can she do about it?
She clenched her jaws.
Leander stood up after getting recharged. He loved how she calmed him down so well. If it was the past, he would have plopped on the bed and took a nap to get his mood better. But just in a minute, his wife made his mood better. She is very good at being his wife.
Not knowing the turbulence in her heart, he placed a kiss on her forehead.
"You stink!" she pouted and pushed him away.
Leander was surprised. She was scattering away from him. He didn’t think that he’d smell that bad. He smelled himself and only then he recognized the lingering perfume scent on him. It was very mild, he thought that she won’t sense it.
His lips curved to a smile. She really is a mouse with a good sense of smell.
With his heart filled with joy, he walked to the closet. He wouldn’t want to smell like another woman. He will change. But he couldn’t help but be delighted to see his little mouse’s reaction.
Look at her adorable pout...
Viviana saw his smile and fisted her hands to balls. "It must have been a very pleasant business meeting," she asked. "You’re still smiling thinking about it," she mumbled that part under her breath.
"Smiling?" Leander grabbed that part from what she mumbled. "I am happy and that’s why I am smiling. Do not want me to be happy?" he asked undressing himself.
Viviana glared at him. There he was...getting naked and she was so angry she couldn’t stop glaring at him. Usually, she would turn or leave when he undresses. But this time, she was not caring for that. She couldn’t get over his smile.
"No," she shrugged hiding her anger. "Be happy all you want."
"Pfft!" Leander couldn’t hold his laughter back anymore and he let it out.
Viviana pouted and folded her hands over her chest. She didn’t know what he found to be so amusing that he laughs this much. Only when she saw him walking toward her did she realize that he was only wearing his boxers.
She quickly turned to leave but he pulled her wrist. With a sudden turn, she ended up on his chest. His bare chest. He smelled like he usually does. She didn’t bother to struggle away as his scent calmed her down.
Leander let her rest on him. He could see that she was calming down by herself without him doing anything. Within a minute he could sense her breathing got regular. He held her cheeks with the same smile that formed fine lines around his eyes. "You’re adorable, Mousy," he said and kissed her lips.
Viviana smiled back. Wherever he goes, whatever he does, doesn’t matter to her. She has him here. As long as she was here, this was enough for her.
Hanging on his shoulder, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. He wrapped his hand around her waist and lifted her up and his other hand, held the back of her head as he deepened the kiss.
"I want to have you more, Mousy..." he whispered. "But you won’t handle it..."
Burying his face in the nook of her neck, he took in a deep breath.
"I can’t..." she ruffled his hair. She really didn’t think that she could take him in again. Walking is already a little hard for her. "I’m hungry..." she whined. "Get dressed soon."
"Hmm?" he caressed the hair on the back of her head and looked into her eyes. "I...My wife..." he whispered.
I swear, my wife. I won’t lose you... I can’t live without you.
He kissed her. She has become his resting place. And he will not allow anyone to take her from him.
I promise I will protect you.
