Chapter 109: [Bonus Chapter]Exposed Truth

Leander couldn’t find Viviana in the bedroom, and he walked to the bathroom. He saw Viviana curled up in the bathtub. This is not the first time he is seeing her sleeping in the bathtub. He almost left her be. If she’s feeling comfortable there, then she should stay there.

But he knew she is not comfortable in that space getting twisted like a pretzel. He couldn’t understand why she likes to hurt herself like this.

He sat by the edge and watched her. There was a dried line of tears still on her face. She had cried herself to sleep. He wanted to kiss her and tell her that she doesn’t have to stay like this. She can be free in his home.

But he knew it would be hypocritical of him to tell her that. He is the one hurting her. She is scared of him. And with what face will he ask her to be pain-free? How can he expect her to open up to him when...

She wants to destroy his family.

How can he accept that?

He hurts her even though he doesn’t want to. And she wants the destruction of his family. How can they ever get along?

But what else can he do when he cannot kill her? Every time he tries, he fails. He cannot let her go either. Who knows what else she would do? He didn’t know what else he can do.

He stood up and walked out. Maybe he should let her be until he makes up his mind. He knows what his heart wants. But his mind is still not made up. Until both his heart and mind agree, he decided not to talk to her.

But he couldn’t bear to leave her in the tub. He picked her up and walked to the bedroom. After covering her with the duvet snuggly, he gently fixed her hair.

"I’m sorry," he whispered and kissed her forehead. "I didn’t mean to hurt you, Mousy... I’m sorry..."

He then left the room. He was surprised to see Steve already back. He checked the time and it was already more than four hours since Steve left. He had done the research not even looking at the time.

"Capo, I got him in the warehouse. He was a little drunk and I’ve asked to prep him," Steve said with his usual politeness. "I’ll wait until you have your dinner."

Leander’s eyes unconsciously ended up on the bedroom door. She is already asleep, and she hasn’t eaten anything either. "Let’s go," he said and got down the stairs. Steve followed.

The warehouse was in a dark and secluded place in the city near the waste treatment site. He found this place a lot more convenient since they won’t have to look for burial spots often. They own the recycling factory nearby. There is a really powerful furnace that comes in handy when he needs to dispose of his garbage.

When he entered the dark warehouse that only had one light pointed at the guy hanging upside down, he rubbed his nose unable to bear the stench of vomit and pee.

With a sigh, he walked toward that guy. He was nicely prepped. There was no bone left unbroken on his chest and being upside down for a long time, his face looked red and his eyes looked like they might fall out any moment.

"He still says that he does not remember the Heberden Blowout. He insists that his boss at that time did what he was asked to do," one of the guys who was holding a baseball bat with barbed wire wrapped around, said.

"If he doesn’t remember the Heberden Blowout, how is he sure his boss did what he was paid to do?" Leander asked.

Leander dragged a steel chair on the rugged floor and sat with his legs crossed.

"Le~" the man hanging upside down coughed. "Is this the young lion? What is happening? What is this all about? We did what we were asked for! You killed my boss and after two years you’re dragging me here?"

He was hit by the prickly bat and he started to cuss like a sailor.

"Your boss didn’t follow my order," Leander said in a calm voice, wiping the blood that splattered on his hand.

"He did!" the man grumbled. "You are the ones changing your minds! He did what he was asked to do and you killed him for it!" he shouted even with blood dripping from his mouth. It entered his nose and he suffocated and yet he glared angrily at Leander.

"You’re the devil, Leander!" he shouted at the man sitting solemnly in the shadows like a mighty king who rules the universe. "You’re a stupid psychopath!"

"How so?" Leander asked after gesturing his men to stop hitting that man. He’s already reached his limit and he will only speak the truth from now on, he knew.

And what’s with people calling him stupid a lot these days?

"My boss followed the order of the don and prepared the bombs. But you killed him as if you are better! How can you not keep your word?" the upside-down man started to cry. "He was like a brother to me and you..."

Leander stood up and walked out of the warehouse. Steve followed him. He was shocked. No one from Leander’s side was informed about the meeting between the don and the Blaster.

The don has the power to veto the street boss’ orders. He is the don. He can do anything he wants to.

But still, Leander is his grandson. How could he not trust his judgment?

In the end, Steve decided to keep his opinions to himself. It was dark already and he couldn’t see Leander’s expression. But he was sure that Leander would be hurt. And things are turning more and more dangerous in the Kastello family.

Once trust between the family members is broken without mending, the empire will collapse.

Steve couldn’t understand if it was coincidental that Leander’s trust is breaking with every family member. This will not lead to anything good.

"Steve, check again if he is telling the truth. And..." Leander paused for a moment. But then he walked to the car. He didn’t want to be there anymore.

On his way back, Leander couldn’t accept what he heard. He felt betrayed by his grandfather.

And more importantly...

He remembered those tear-filled eyes that looked at him.

She was right! She was right!

It was my grandfather.
