Chapter 401: Dread And Pressures
Hades jumped straight into the battle. Clyde, sensing a new power approaching with murderous intent, instantly knew it was Hades. Without hesitation, he unleashed a bolt of lightning toward Gabriel with immense force. The Archangel was forced to raise his shield quickly to avoid the strike, and the blast temporarily obscured his vision.
Clyde took the chance to leap back from Gabriel, spinning his body mid-air to face Hades, who was charging in from below.
He thrust his Elderglass sword—now wrapped in dark mist, lightning, and fire—straight at Hades. Immediately afterward, lances of combined elemental energy shot toward Hades at incredible speed.
Caught off guard by Clyde’s quick reaction to his surprise attack, Hades gritted his teeth, knowing he’d failed to land a sneak strike.
Raising his bident, Hades summoned his underworld power. Deep purple magic swirled at the weapon’s tip before he fired it to counter Clyde’s incoming assault.
BOOM!
The collision of their attacks shook the entire domain—the air, the ground, even reality itself. A crack tore open in space and time nearby, reacting to the overwhelming power, though none of them noticed it in the chaos of the clashing forces.
Hades burst out of the swirling mist of destruction and shot toward Clyde in the sky. At the same time, Gabriel lowered his shield, his vision restored. His eyes burned with the golden light of an enraged Archangel.
Gabriel soared toward Clyde, following Hades.
Now Clyde faced two powerful beings charging at him with overwhelming might.
Yet he showed no fear. His expression was calm, and his eyes had turned completely black.
"My loyal Catalyst. I shall grant you more power for this battle!"
The voice of the Ancient One echoed in Clyde’s mind. He grinned at the words. The strength he already possessed was immense—but now, he was being given even more.
With a swing of his Elderglass sword, Clyde launched himself into battle, clashing with both Hades and Gabriel at once.
The soldiers who witnessed the clash unfolding in the sky could only stare in awe and dread. Their weapons trembled in their hands, forgotten.
None of them had ever seen anything like this. The sheer pressure radiating from the battle above made their knees weak. Some dropped to the ground, unable to keep standing. Their faces turned pale and their throats dry.
The power Clyde was exerting didn’t just shake the sky—it clawed at their souls, a force so overwhelming that fear rooted itself deep within their bones.
And it wasn’t just Clyde. The sky itself had transformed into something terrifying.
Dark mist coiled and churned like a storm held together by the will of something unknown. At the center of the swirling chaos, bursts of light flared. Those clashes of clash of steel, fire, and magic look sviolent, bright, and powerful.
Shockwaves rippled outward with every impact, rolling over the land and tearing at the very essence of those who watched it from the ground.
Asqa who was locked in her own battle amidst the chaos below, found her gaze drawn skyward just like the soldiers she fought.
Her mouth parted slightly in astonishment. Even as blades of the soldiers around her was raied, she was frozen in place, captivated by the impossible sight above.
She had known Clyde’s strength and fought beside him. But this was something beyond her imagination.
A mortal, clashing with two powerful higher beings in the heart of a storm of blackness. And he not just surviving but holding his own.
Gabriel and Hades attacked in tandem, their divine powers interwoven, a force that should have flattened entire armies. Yet it wasn’t enough.
Clyde stood firm, meeting them blow for blow with terrifying might. The sky recoiled with every exchange as if the world could barely contain the fury being unleashed by both sides.
Asqa’s heart pounded.
"Clyde... what are you becoming?" she whispered to herself.
Because now she saw it clearly that he wasn’t just a warrior anymore. He was becoming a force of unknown nature.
But enough of that for now.
Asqa took a deep breath and steadying her thoughts. She was siding with Clyde so she knew she’d have to accept all this sooner or later.
Clyde’s transformation, the descent of the Ancient One, and the line between mortal and divine that now blurring... it was all real, and it was only going to grow more intense.
She would see more in the future, she was sure of that. Especially when the Ancient One fully descended into this world later.
There was no time to dwell on it.
Snapping back to the present, Asqa’s grip tightened around her wand. Her gaze dropped from the sky and settled on the battlefield around her.
The remaining soldiers were reeling and disoriented, their will broken from the pressure of witnessing the impossible.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Asqa surged forward.
She now using her dagger. The blade wizzed through the air ruthlessly. The first soldier didn’t even have time to react before falling.
The second raised his weapon with shaking hands, but his stance was weak, his body trembling under the weight of the fear pressing down on him.
Asqa ducked beneath his sloppy swing and drove her dagger through his chest.
They fell one by one.
Some turned and ran. Others begged for their lives.
"D-Don’t come near me!" one soldier cried out, backing away in horror, his face pale, eyes wide. "You’re not... You’re not human!"
Asqa didn’t respond. She couldn’t afford hesitation. She charged straight at him and cutting through his final scream.
But then the air on the ground suddenly rippled.
A flickering of gold and lightning split the space few meters ahead of her. A swirling portal opened just past the hill.
And from it an army emerged.
Marching in perfect formation, bearing polished armor and golden shields. Their banners bore the unmistakable thunderbolt insignia.
Zeus.
Asqa’s eyes narrowed. She gritted her teeth.
Then he stepped through. Wreathed in Celestial energy, his very presence made the earth hum with power. Zeus, King of the Gods of Olympus, stood behind his army like a storm. His eyes scanned the battlefield.
And then he looked up at the sky.
He had come for Clyde as well!
"Damn it..." Asqa hissed under her breath. This was bad. Very bad.
Even with Clyde’s newfound strength Gabriel and Hades were already pressing him hard.
Now Zeus had entered the fray. The scales will tipping fast.
