Chapter 391: Meeting Each Other

Chapter 391: Meeting Each Other

Graemory could see it clearly now. The coldness, the hate, the bitter satisfaction in Clyde’s eyes.

That slight curl of his lips wasn’t just a smile. It was the quiet and lethal grin of someone watching his plan unfold exactly as he intended.

This... this had never happened before.

Higher beings like her had always stood at the peak of power. They were always untouchable and eternal.

Mortals were just means to an end. Like pawns to be moved across the battlefield or tools that forged for glory or sacrifice. They will become servants, soldiers, and eapons. Nothing more.

And yet... from nowhere, Clyde had appeared. He is an anomaly from the very beginning, ever since the Selection Stage.

She remembered when she first approached him, thinking she could manipulate him and then use him for her own gain. Back then, he had seemed naïve and confused, just another piece in the game. He was a little bit stronger but not to the point of become a threat.

But now?

Now he was something else entirely. Definitely a threat. No, he is the threat. One of the greatest dangers the higher beings had ever faced and perhaps the only one they couldn’t see coming until it was far too late.

Graemory stared at him in silence, her crimson eyes lingering on the mortal who now stood on a path to become something even the heavens feared.

She felt a cold sweat at the thought of what might’ve happened if she’d opposed him. If she’d chosen the other side.

"No

," she thought. "I’m lucky. I’m already standing beside him."

There was a quiet relief buried deep in her chest—a hidden exhale of a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.

She had played her part right and now she was one of the few higher beings not on the brink of destruction. Including Archangel Michael and Demon King Asmodeus.

Graemory finally broke the silence, her voice calm and deliberate.

"I should go now. There’s nothing else I want to know, for now. Later, if you need any help, just call me with that black stone I gave you at that time."

Clyde didn’t say anything at first. He only glanced her way, his expression unreadable as if judging whether he should let her leave at all.

But then, he nodded once.

Without waiting for more words, Graemory turned and headed for the door, her heels echoing softly against the cold stone floor.

She didn’t look back.

Behind her was the end of the old world. And before her was a future written in fire and ruin. But at least, she will be staying away from that ruins.

Just as Graemory stepped out of the mansion she muttered under her breath, "You’re all lucky."

Her voice was low, almost lost in the wind, but her Demon soldiers heard her.

They looked at one another in confusion, brows furrowed. None dared to ask what she meant. They simply stood there, armed and silent, trying to piece together their mistress’s cryptic words.

Before any of them could speak, a shadow passed overhead.

Graemory instinctively looked up, eyes narrowing.

A figure was descending from the sky—fast, graceful, and glowing with an unmistakable light.

Gold and white attire shimmered in the dim light, the markings on it far too familiar.

The figure landed several meters away, dust kicking up gently at her boots.

She feels like a followers of Angel.

Graemory’s tone snapped into command in an instant.

"Prepare yourselves!"

But one of them spoke up hesitantly. "Wait, your grace. That one... is Lord Clyde’s friend."

Graemory turned sharply, her crimson eyes narrowing at the soldier, then back at the glowing figure in front of them.

The figure walking closer revealing her face. Long, dark hair spilled down over golden shoulders, and her eyes.

Asqa.

She looked just as confused as Graemory, glancing between the soldiers, the mansion, and the Demoness standing before her.

They stared at each other with thinly veiled suspicion. The unsure of the other’s intentions.

Asqa’s hand rested near the hilt of her wand, her eyes never leaving Graemory. Her body tense and ready to rise if needed.

She could feel it. The aura around this woman was unmistakable. A Demon. And yet... why had she calmly exited the mansion?

Graemory, for her part, sized up the figure with cold calculation. She hadn’t been told anyone else was coming. If this was an enemy, she’d deal with her quickly. If not, then it was just another piece in Clyde’s ever-growing web of mystery.

Neither made a move. The air between them crackled with tension.

Then, the mansion doors creaked open once more.

Clyde stepped out into the open, his presence immediately commanding attention from both sides. His gaze moved from Asqa to Graemory, and without hesitation, he spoke.

"She’s with me," he said to Asqa. "She’s a friend. You don’t need to worry."

Asqa blinked once, then slowly nodded. The weight of her power faded slightly as she lowered her guard.

"I see," Graemory murmured. "Alright."

She turned on her heel, her long cloak swirling behind her. Without another word, she raised one hand and traced a sigil in the air. A swirling portal opened with a quiet hum.

Graemory stepped through it without hesitation, disappearing into the void. The portal closed behind her in a ripple of dark energy.

Silence returned for a moment.

Asqa sheathed her blade and stepped toward the mansion, still trying to process what she had just witnessed.

When she reached the steps, she turned to Clyde, her expression half-question, half-worry. "Who was she exactly?"

Clyde, now leaning casually against the doorway, answered plainly.

"Her name is Graemory. She’s a Demon, one of the powerful ones."

Asqa’s brows lifted slightly. "And she was here? In your base?"

He nodded. "This place is hers, actually. The soldiers outside? They’re hers too."

Asqa stared at him, processing that.

"She’s been helping me," Clyde continued. "From the shadows. Since before the others even noticed me."

Asqa looked over her shoulder where the portal had vanished. "Huh... now I know that a Demon helping you. I guess this is normal for you now."

Clyde cracked a faint, tired smile. "Yeah. Don’t be surprised anymore."

With that, Asqa entered the mansion with tired expression.
