Chapter 355: Surge Of Powers
Chapter 355: Surge Of Powers
"Do you think you even understand the power you’ve been dealing with?" Clyde asked.
Asmodeus blinked. The truth was, he didn’t fully comprehend what that power was. But he knew one thing—it was strong. And that was all that mattered to him.
"I don’t care. I want that power," Asmodeus replied bluntly, making it clear that nothing Clyde said would change his mind.
Clyde shook his head, as if looking at a stubborn child—troublesome and annoying.
"Stop underestimating me, human. Do you even know what that power is? A mere human like you?" Asmodeus said, his tone sharp, his anger flaring once more.
"Oh, I know exactly what that power is," Clyde replied, his voice unwavering. "More than you do. In fact, that power is far beyond even you."
Asmodeus narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Clyde carefully. His words carried absolute certainty, and his expression was calm. He wasn’t joking. And really, what reason would he have to lie?
"Does he really know about that power?" Asmodeus couldn’t help but question the idea.
However, his rage—fueled by everything Clyde had done—quickly took over again, dominating his mind. Clyde had pushed him this far, so it was only natural to crush him first and ask questions later.
The flames around Asmodeus flared again, this time even hotter than before, incinerating everything in the vicinity within seconds.
Clyde raised his arm to shield his face from the intense heat wave. "Was everything he used earlier still not the full extent of his power?"
It felt as though Asmodeus’ power was limitless—every time he needed more, he somehow drew strength from some unknown source, growing stronger and faster.
"If that’s the case, then I can’t afford to hesitate either. If I underestimate him now, I might suffer a fatal wound."
Clyde made his decision. He would fight seriously now. He reached deep into his reserves, drawing on his Demon power—and mixing it with his Angelic power.
He saw Asmodeus’ eyes widen in shock. As expected. The moment he used this Demon power, he knew it would stun the Demon King—and push his fury to even greater heights.
"YOU!" Asmodeus roared, pointing a clawed finger at Clyde. "WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU!?"
Clyde simply shrugged and smirked.
"ARRRRGHHHH!!!"
With a furious scream filled with frustration and rage, Asmodeus launched himself at Clyde, leaving a trail of black ashes in his wake.
The moment Asmodeus lunged with his newfound speed again, Clyde barely had time to react.
The Demon King moved faster than before — much faster. One second, he was in front of him and in the next, he was already at his side and slashing his claws through the air like black lightning.
Clyde tried to dodge but Asmodeus was relentless. A clawed hand raked across his side, tearing through his coat like nothing and slicing into his flesh.
He gritted his teeth as pain flared across his ribs, but there was no time to recover. Asmodeus was already attacking again.
A crushing blow slammed into Clyde’s gut, sending him flying backward. He twisted in midair trying to regain control, but the moment his feet touched the ground, Asmodeus was there and waiting him.
A burning fist collided with his jaw, snapping his head back and forcing him to stagger. The force of it rattled his skull, his vision blurring for a fraction of a second.
"Damn it... He’s even stronger than before!"
It wasn’t just his speed. Asmodeus’ power had grown. His strikes carried even more weight and his movements become sharper and more precise.
It was as if the battle itself was feeding him, pushing him past his limits.
Clyde raised his sword to block an incoming blow, but the sheer force sent him skidding backward, his boots carving deep trails into the charred ground.
Flames coiled around Asmodeus’ body, flickering like hungry serpents as he advanced. His eyes gleaming with unrestrained fury.
"You’re slowing down," Asmodeus sneered. "What happened to that confidence of yours? No matter if you have that Demon power, you’re still weaker than me."
Clyde wiped blood from his lips. He had been able to keep up before but now, it was different. He was on the back foot, struggling just to defend himself. Even though he already using the Demon power. Is this the real power of a Demon King?
Another strike came at him. It was a blur of motion too fast to follow.
Clyde barely managed to tilt his head, but the claws still grazed his cheek, leaving a deep gash that burned like fire. A split second later, Asmodeus’ knee drove into his ribs, forcing the air from his lungs in a ragged gasp.
Clyde stumbled, coughing as he tasted copper in his mouth. His body screamed in protest and pain radiating from every wound.
"I can’t keep taking hits like this. If I don’t turn this around soon, I won’t last much longer."
Asmodeus stood over him, his wings unfurled like the shadow of death itself. The Demon King’s smirk widened as he raised one clawed hand, flames spiraling around it like a miniature sun.
Clyde clenched his fists, his own energy flickering to life. He wasn’t done yet.
Gritted his teeth, he feeling the searing pain of his wounds with every breath. Blood dripped from the gashes across his body, the burns on his skin still sizzling from Asmodeus’ fire.
He couldn’t afford to fight in this condition while against an enemy who was only getting stronger.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment and focused, drawing deeper into his reserves of magic.
The golden light of his Angelic power surged through him, wrapping around his wounds. A faint sizzling sound filled the air as the burned flesh began to mend and closing rapidly under the Angel energy.
The pain dulled, then vanished completely as his body restored itself.
Clyde raised his hand, channeling another surge of energy. The air around him shifted, crackling with force as a deep blue aura began to form.
Water surged from thin air and swirling around his body in a spiraling vortex. He activated his [Tidebreaker] skill.
The water responded instantly, compressing and solidifying into a flowing armor around him. This water also imbued with Angelic energy, making it glow with a brilliant ethereal light.
The currents surged with divine power, shifting and adapting to every movement of his body.
Asmodeus’ eyes narrowed, recognizing the shift.
"Hmph. You’re more stubborn than I thought," he muttered, flexing his claws.
Clyde exhaled, feeling the power course through him like an unstoppable tide. His grip tightened around Elderglass.
"I will defeat you now, Asmodues. Be prepared," Clyde said.
