Chapter 313: The Prize
Clyde’s blade carved through the molten warrior’s defenses, slicing cleanly through its fiery hands before grazing its shoulder.
The creature hissed in pain, his molten blood dripping from the wounds like liquid fire. But before Clyde could press the attack further, the warrior leaped back with explosive force and landing a safe distance away.
For the first time, true realization dawned in the creature’s ember eyes. He was outmatched at this point.
This battle wasn’t in his favor anymore. Clyde was beyond him. With his strange way he was stronger, faster, and wielding an impossible power that defied all logic. There was no victory to be found here.
The molten warrior clenched his jaw, frustration burning through his veins. His mind running, considering his next move. And then, as Clyde took a step forward and closing the distance between them, the warrior made his decision.
A thick burning mist erupted from his body, surging outward in a wave of scorching heat and dense black smoke.
Clyde’s vision blurred. The heat touched his skin and his eyes instinctively squeezed shut as the mist engulfed him.
"Damn it."
Without hesitation, he swung his sword forward, cutting through the dense cloud, but his blade met nothing but empty air.
He slashed again, sweeping his weapon in a wide arc and sending crescent shaped slashed, but there was no impact and only mist that shifting and swirling around him like a living thing to keep him here.
His senses sharpened. He listened trying to hear the warrior’s movements, but the hissing and crackling mist drowned out all other sounds.
He attacked again ot his left, right, behind, and forward, striking at every possible angle, but he found nothing. The warrior was gone.
A flicker of irritation crossed Clyde’s face. He had to get away from this mist first.
Without wasting another second, Clyde activated [Flight] and surging upward with a powerful burst of speed. The mist fell away below him as he ascended, finally clearing his vision.
And there he saw it in the distance, sprinting across the molten battlefield with large steps. The molten warrior was running away.
Clyde’s expression darkened.
"He’s trying to escape? No. You wouldn’t get away from me!"
His shot forward like a golden spear, closing in on his fleeing opponent with terrifying speed.
In a single burst of speed, he vanished from the air and reappearing right behind the fleeing warrior.
His blade flashed then a sharp clean slash tore through the warrior’s legs severing them at once.
The creature let out a bloodcurdling scream as molten blood sprayed across the scorched battlefield. His massive body collapsed and crashing against the cracked ground.
But Clyde wasn’t done.
His gaze remained cold and unwavering. He couldn’t let this thing recover. He wouldn’t give it a chance to retaliate.
Before the creature could so much as writhe in pain, Clyde moved again.
He slashedn and one arm gone.
Slash again. The other followed.
A third attack carved through the warrior’s final remaining limb, rendering him completely helpless.
The molten warrior twisted, his ember-lit eyes filled with fury, pain, and something dangerously close to despair. He tried to push himself up but his ruined body failed him.
That was when Clyde struck the final blow.
Without hesitation, he drove his sword straight through the creature’s back, impaling it completely. The blade emerged from the front of its molten chest, glowing with his magic power.
The warrior’s body convulsing, his molten veins pulsing erratically as Clyde channeled his power into the blade.
A surge of Angel energy flooded into the creature’s body, followed by the deep, flowing blue aura of water energy.
The reaction was instantaneous.
The creature’s entire form convulsed, its molten body cracking and steaming violently as the clashing energies wreaked havoc from within.
It let out a final, agonized scream.
"You can’t win against the higher beings alone!" the creature howled, its voice twisted with desperation, fear, and a painful truth it had clung to for too long.
Clyde didn’t listen.
His grip on the sword tightened. He pushed the blade in deeper, pouring even more power into it.
The molten warrior’s ember-lit eyes flickered, dimming.
"Wait! I... Argh—!"
His words died with him.
His body stilled. The molten flames that once burned so fiercely faded.
And then, the creature was dead.
Silence fell over the battlefield.
Clyde pulled his sword free, molten blood dripping from the blade. His expression remained calm as he looked down at the fallen warrior.
He gained another Exp.
Clyde watched the molten warrior’s lifeless body began to change. The fiery glow that once pulsed through its veins dimmed entirely, leaving behind a dull ashen husk like charred burned wood that the fire was extinguished.
A moment later, the husk crumbled into dust.
Clyde narrowed his eyes as something gleamed within the settling ash.
Something metallic and let out aura of power.
He stepped forward, reaching down and brushing away the remains. His fingers closed around the object.
The artifact was a small, obsidian-black medallion, its edges lined with crimson infernal runes. In the center of the medallion there was a deep red gemstone, swirling with a molten glow. The air around it shimmered with residual heat.
A system notification flashed before his eyes.
[Infernal Medallion of Asmodeus]

Clyde exhaled slowly, staring at the medallion in his palm.
So this was Asmodeus’s artifact. This was indeed powerful. This will add to his arsenal in the battle to come.
A slow smirk crept onto his face.
Having secured what he came for, Clyde wasted no time. He grabbed his necklacee and activated the portal, its swirling energy igniting in the air before him. Without a second glance at the battlefield, he stepped forward and vanished into the shimmering portal.
