Chapter 312: Opposites

They clashed again, their battle escalating into a storm of unrelenting power that try to kill each other.

The molten warrior’s body flared with intense heat, his hellfire roaring brighter and became even hotter. The ground beneath them cracked and bubbled, molten rock forming pools of lava where his power surged unchecked.

He unleashed another devastating strike, his fist crashing down like a meteor wrapped in infernal flames toward Clyde.

However, Clyde met him without fear.

This time, he pushed himself further and unleashing more of his power reserve in his body. This creature is strong. Maybe even stronger than some of the Celestials. Because he need to unleashing this much effort for it.

His Angelic energy surged around him, golden light clashing against the deep crimson of the warrior’s flames. But then, he did something new.

He reached into the Demon energy inside himself, then letting it flow through his veins, intertwining with his Angelic power.

The shift in the air around him and his body was immediate.

A dark, crackling aura surrounded him, deep crimson threads weaving into the brilliant gold of his holy energy. For a brief moment, it was chaotic and looks as if its unstable. But then, Clyde forced it into balance, fusing the opposing forces within himself. Just with his will and mind.

The warrior’s reaction was instant.

His molten eyes widened. True shock flashing across his face.

Clyde saw it clearly even while exchanging rapid blows at close range. Every strike, parry, and counter was met with a mix of holy light and Demonic darkness at once. The fusion of two forces that should never coexist.

Then, the warrior abruptly leaped backward, distancing himself from Clyde.

He didn’t attack again and just looking at Clyde.

He took a cautious stance, his molten body showing hesitation as he studied Clyde with newfound wariness.

"...What are you?" the warrior asked, his voice quieter now and almost disbelieving what he saw.

Clyde smirked, lowering his sword slightly but not relaxing.

"You seem surprised," he said with relaxed manner.

The warrior’s molten fingers twitched.

"How... how do you have Angelic and Demonic energy at the same time?" His voice carried an edge of something close to fear.

His mind raced, struggling to comprehend. It should be impossible.

Demonic and Angelic power were opposites forces that will annihilated each other on contact. Even beings who tried to wield both would be destroyed from within and torn apart by the contradiction.

And yet, Clyde stood before him, completely fine.

No, more than fine. He was stronger than before after he combined all of the two forces.

The molten warrior’s gaze changed. Before, he had looked at Clyde just as an enemy to kill in this battle to survive. But now, something deeper flickered behind his ember lit eyes. It was curiosity, longing and a dangerous insatiable hunger.

Clyde was an anomaly. A being who able to wielded both Angelic and Demonic energy without tearing himself apart.

"...How do you do it?" the warrior asked, his voice lower now, almost reverent.

But there was something else behind those words. His desire of such power.

Because deep inside, a part of him wanted what Clyde had.

In this world, power was everything.

To beings like them, the forgotten, the abandoned, the discarded, they were nothing but insects to the higher powers that ruled.

The Demon Kings, the Archangels, the Celestials, all of them played with reality as if it were a game. To them, warriors like him were nothing but pawns or tools to be used, then crushed when they were no longer needed.

But Clyde...

Clyde had the power to change that. He could oppose them and to break free of the cycle.

And if he could do it then maybe others could too. He could do it too. He just needed to know the way.

The molten warrior clenched his fists, heat rippling off his body in uneven waves as the idea took root in his mind.

Clyde, however, merely scoffed.

"Why should I tell you?" he said, his expression calm as always.

The warrior’s molten fingers twitched.

"With your power... we could oppose the Demon King," the warrior pressed, his voice now filled with conviction. "Not just the Demon King. But the others. The Angels. The Celestials. We don’t have to be their pawns anymore. We could be something more."

Clyde’s expression didn’t change.

"I’m already planning to do that," he said calmly. "I don’t need your help."

Then silence happened. A heavy, suffocating silence settled between them.

The warrior gritted his teeth. His molten body pulsed, the heat around him intensifying, his flames flaring wildly.

He now understood.

There was nothing he could say to make Clyde change his mind.

Unless he forced him to reveal his secret.

His jaw clenched. His fingers curled into fists.

If Clyde wouldn’t see him as an ally then he would make him.

"...Then I’ll just have to take that power from you myself," the warrior growled.

The molten veins across his body flared. His stance shifting, no longer defensive, but ready to attack again.

A surge of pure burning intent filled the battlefield.

However, Clyde moved first. He became blur and faster than before, faster than the warrior expected.

Clyde closed the gap between them in the blink of an eye and raised his sword high. Then doing a powerful downward slash.

The molten warrior barely had time to react. His instincts screamed and he brought up his fist that wreathed in roaring flames to meet the attack head-on.

BOOM!

A deafening boom shook the battlefield as their clash sent a shockwave ripping through the air. The sheer force of impact sent lava surging outward in violent waves.

But then the warrior felt it.

A difference happened.

Clyde’s attack was stronger now. His blade was sharper.

The force behind his attack was beyond what he had shown before. The molten warrior gritted his teeth as his arm trembled from the impact.

His eyes flicked to Clyde’s blade and what he saw made his molten veins burn with disbelief.

Three distinct energies surged and swirled within the sword, their auras intertwining yet remaining clear.

Golden radiance of Angelic light. Dark crimson tendrils of Demonic power, and a deep flowing blue aura of water.

The molten warrior’s eyes widened.

’What... is this?’

The energy wasn’t chaotic or unstable. It was fused, balanced, and controlled.

The warrior’s hesitation lasted only a fraction of a second.

But against Clyde, that was all it took.

With a sharp twist of his wrist, Clyde pushed forward and his blade slicing past the warrior’s defenses.
