Chapter 288: Chapter 288: The Thing Jiang Ye Gave Her
Chi Yue looked at his scar-covered face, emotionless, "Are you done speaking? If so, please leave."
"No, Chi Yue, I really realize my mistake. Please forgive me. If you don’t forgive me, I’m going to continue getting beaten today and tomorrow... please, just have some pity on me."
Chi Yue refused to relent, "When you insulted me, a weak woman, did you ever think about having pity on me?"
"I was wrong. I truly was. I... I’ll kowtow to you, would that make it right?"
As he spoke, Hong Yize heavily kowtowed in front of all the onlookers.
Chi Yue’s brows knit slightly, but she still wouldn’t yield, "Are you leaving or not? If not, I’m calling the police."
She signaled to the person in charge, who quickly took out their phone.
Seeing this, Hong Yize reluctantly left.
Chi Yue motioned for them to return to work, while she sat in her office pondering, who had beaten Hong Yize like this?
Given his determination last night to claim her, it definitely wasn’t a change of heart on his own.
Situ Wei’an suddenly barged in, interrupting her thoughts.
"Chi Yue, why is your personal life so messy?"
Chi Yue frowned, "Where do you see that my personal life is in chaos?"
"Wasn’t that man just now proof?" Situ Wei’an spoke with disdain, "My parents must have been mistaken to think of matchmaking you with my brother."
Chi Yue’s frown deepened, "This is work time. Even if you have a complaint about your supervisor, now is not the time to discuss it."
"What kind of supervisor are you? I’ve heard that the real boss here is Fifth Young Master Fu, and I am his fiancée. So tell me, whose status is actually more important?"
Chi Yue looked at her, pensive. After a long moment, she suddenly stood up, "Then you might as well take this seat."
Walking out of the office, Chi Yue stood before the eavesdropping person in charge, "Starting this afternoon, I’m returning to my original position."
The person in charge hesitated, holding back their words.
Chi Yue: "Say whatever you want to say."
The person in charge said, "Don’t stoop to her level. She can’t take your place. Don’t take it to heart; I will report the truth to the higher-ups."
"Then I’ll wait for the notice from above."
Chi Yue ended up waiting several days.
One day, as she came out from the lab, she heard Wei’an’s sobbing and the person in charge trying to console her in the office.
Chi Yue had no intention of eavesdropping and bypassed the office to the break room.
On her way back, she passed by the office again, just in time to see Wei’an packing up her things to leave.
She glared fiercely at Chi Yue, "Don’t think you’ve beaten me like this. If you’ve got the guts, marry my brother and see how I’ll deal with you then!"
Chi Yue passed by her without showing any expression.
At the end of the workday, she received a message instructing her to return to her original position.
Chi Yue did not refuse and moved her belongings back to the office.
Nan Bingyu called her, informing her that the Nan Family parents had returned and were likely to come to propose marriage the next day, advising her to prepare mentally.
Chi Yue felt overwhelmed, unable to sleep the whole night.
The next day, she arrived at the office feeling groggy, only to find an unexpected visitor.
"Miss Chi, we meet again."
"Mr. Jiang?"
"Still remember me, not bad memory. It’s just a pity you forgot the most important person," Jiang Ye said pointedly.
Chi Yue, unfazed, poured him a cup of tea, "Are you here to do an appraisal for someone today?"
"Not exactly, I’ve come to deliver something." Jiang Ye produced an envelope full of thick documents, "I thought long and hard and decided these should be given to you. How you deal with them and what choices you make, that’s up to you."
Chi Yue glanced at the tightly sealed envelope, "What’s this?"
"Something very useful to you."
Before leaving, Jiang Ye made her promise that no one should know these documents were from him.
Chi Yue opened the envelope and began to look through the documents. The colder her gaze became, the more she read. Finally, with a loud "snap," she slammed the documents onto the coffee table, her hands clenched into fists.
