Chapter 65: Chapter 65 He Changed His Position to Embrace Yolanda Greenwood
As soon as Isabella left, Cooper sat down on the sofa.
"Stop pretending!" He looked at the woman on the bed, his tone icy as he began.
Yolanda awkwardly turned over and yawned, "I’m tired and going to sleep. You should sleep early too."
"Yolanda!" Cooper almost gritted his teeth, "What exactly did you say to Mom this morning?"
Yolanda silently covered her head with the quilt.
Cooper stood up, strode forward in a few large steps, and snatched away the quilt, "Speak!"
At that moment, Yolanda was wearing her nightgown, lying on her side; when he suddenly pulled away the quilt, her neckline was fully exposed.
She immediately sat up and straightened her clothes, "If I don’t mention something that interests her, how can I keep her?"
"What did you say?" Cooper forced himself not to look at her chest.
"Just..." Yolanda lowered her head, squeezing out each word, "I said what she cares about, that... we don’t have children because... because you’re not capable."
The last three words, she spoke them quickly and softly.
Because she knew this was a sensitive point for men, and someone like Cooper would certainly not want to hear it.
Sure enough, the next moment, Cooper pressed his body against her, pinning her down.
The overwhelming pressure and Cooper’s scent made Yolanda panic.
She pushed at Cooper with her small hands, "What are you doing? Get off of me!"
"Do I need to prove myself to you again?"
The man below her was tense, these past few days had been really frustrating.
"It’s no big deal... I will go and clarify things with Mom."
Yolanda felt something pressing against her, and she quickly understood, her face instantly turning as red as a peach.
"Cooper, don’t mess around; you haven’t been drugged today, see clearly who I am."
"Of course I know who you are." Cooper’s body sank a little, almost pressing against Yolanda.
Through two layers of nighties, Yolanda could feel the man’s scorching temperature.
Her eyes reddened in urgency, "What? Melissa called you during the day, and she didn’t satisfy you? Or did you pity her because her arm was hurt and you didn’t want to touch her?"
These words struck directly at Cooper’s heart.
He immediately clasped Yolanda’s neck.
"Yolanda, did you think before you spoke?"
He deliberately leaned in close, near Yolanda’s ear, "What I do with her has nothing to do with you, but as my wife right now, you have the right..."
He was really struggling to cope, the closer he got to Yolanda, the more uncomfortable he became.
He released Yolanda’s neck, and his large hand instinctively reached down towards that secretive area.
"Cooper!" Yolanda clasped Cooper’s big hand with both of her hands, preventing him from going further.
Now, they still were husband and wife, and she was in a vulnerable position; she had to save herself by another means.
"Cooper, it’s not possible today, I have my period."
Cooper’s eyebrows knitted so tightly they could squash a mosquito; he still maintained his earlier movements, looking unwilling to give up.
"Really, I’m not lying to you."
Yolanda was close to tears, her eyes brimming with water.
Cooper finally took a deep sigh and got up.
Yolanda pulled the quilt around her and sat up, watching Cooper cautiously.
The man’s face looked terrible. He sat back down on the sofa, not uttering a word.
"I... I can go explain to Mom tomorrow."
"There’s no need."
"But if Mom misunderstands, don’t you care?"
Cooper opened his eyes, and at that moment, his eyes were extremely deep, like a deep pool that one couldn’t see the bottom of.
"Whether I’m capable or not, only my wife needs to know."
Yolanda Greenwood’s heart sank, and yet she boldly said, "But we’re about to get divorced, and you’re still like this, what do you take me for?"
Cooper Coldson felt really uncomfortable and decided to take care of it himself in the bathroom.
He stood up and regarded the curled-up Yolanda as a matter of fact, "As a wife, what else!"
He found this woman sometimes inexplicably strange.
After Cooper left, Yolanda lay down again.
In reality, she hadn’t gotten her period, and it was already a week late.
But that was normal.
Having lost blood from slashing her wrists and then donating blood to Gemma Morgan twice, Yolanda even doubted if there was much blood left in her body.
She was extremely sleepy now and quickly fell into a hazy sleep.
When Cooper came out, he saw Yolanda asleep again and couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.
In the villa before, they’d sometimes share a bed where she would often wake up in the middle of the night to find Yolanda not sleeping.
She would either be staring at him in the dark or tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
This time, returning to the old house, her sleep quality improved drastically.
Cooper got into bed, and just as he lay down, Yolanda turned and clung to him.
Yolanda’s body was always cool.
In the past few days, Cooper had frowned and pulled her off, but today... let it be. She had made Grandpa very happy today, so let her be.
Besides, even if he were to pull her off now, she would cling to him once he fell asleep.
Just like a child, boneless.
Cooper sighed softly and closed his eyes.
Clearly, Yolanda was truly exhausted today, even starting to snore softly, purring like a little kitten.
In the darkness, Cooper remembered the kitten he’d raised when he was five years old.
But after he became the heir to the Coldson Group, that kitten was killed right in front of him by Isabella Ross.
Since then, he never had a pet again, nor did he easily hold any surplus emotions for anything.
Cooper slowly opened his eyes as if struggling with himself.
He changed position and held Yolanda in his arms.
At breakfast the next day, Isabella Ross announced something.
"The annual charity gala of the Coldson Group is in a few days, Yolanda will join me."
Yolanda paused in her eating.
She had wanted to go to last year’s charity gala since it was a major event for the Coldson Group, and her appearance would have proved that she was accepted.
Unfortunately, Isabella didn’t mention it last year.
Why had Isabella suddenly changed her mind this year?
Before she could speak, Old Master Coldson responded.
"That’s great, it’s time to let Yolanda be seen as the wife of the Family Head."
Yolanda wanted to refuse, automatically glancing at Cooper Coldson.
Cooper was looking down, his emotions inscrutable.
"Dad," Isabella naturally didn’t want to acknowledge Melissa’s status, "I don’t plan on making the gala that grand this year, just a gathering of ladies and young misses from our circle to talk, dance, and auction a few items."
In other words, it wasn’t the right occasion for introducing the wife of the Family Head.
"That sounds good." Yolanda spoke before Old Master Coldson, "I’ll go."
She didn’t want to go against the elder’s wish but also didn’t want to leave bearing the title of the Coldson Family Head’s wife.
It would be better to let the past be like a dream; as the dream was about to end, there was no need to remind everyone of what had happened.
Old Master Coldson looked at Cooper sternly, "What’s your opinion?"
"Let’s do as Mom said," Cooper put down his chopsticks and stood up, leaving the room.
