Chapter 56: Chapter 56 His Obedient Grandson is Finally Getting Smarter

"What’s wrong?" Yolanda Greenwood asked worriedly.

Lola Gold shook her head, "Nothing, the marriage is still a long way off. Let’s talk about it later."

"Lola..." Yolanda hesitated.

"Alright, Yolanda, don’t worry. When there’s a chance, I’ll introduce you."

Lola Gold ended the conversation abruptly.

The two had dinner together. As Yolanda’s health had almost recovered, she took a taxi home.

Upon returning to the Coldson Family’s old mansion, she found Old Master Coldson and Isabella Ross waiting in the living room.

One was all smiles, finally relieved to see her return;

while the other’s face turned livid, as if hoping she would never come back.

"Why so late?" Isabella Ross couldn’t help but complain, "You didn’t even call home."

Yolanda tugged apologetically at the corner of her mouth, "I’m sorry, Grandpa, Mom, for making you worry."

"It’s okay, as long as you’re back," Old Master Coldson approached and took Yolanda by the hand. "Come, let’s go upstairs and rest."

He was clearly helping Yolanda out of a tight spot.

Yolanda smiled gratefully and said goodbye to the Old Master Coldson at her bedroom door.

"Grandpa, good night."

"Yolanda, good night."

After returning to her room, Yolanda found that Cooper Coldson had already come back and had finished washing up, now reading documents on the bed.

Yolanda didn’t say anything and went to wash up.

When she came out, she found a bowl of herbal soup on the table.

Evidently, Isabella Ross had brought it.

"It’s good that you poured it," Cooper said without looking up.

He knew that for over a year, he had barely been intimate with Yolanda—that she could get pregnant would be a miracle.

Yolanda didn’t care, but since Cooper had mentioned it, she didn’t want to invite misery upon herself.

Moreover, if she drank it, Cooper might misunderstand.

She went to the bathroom and poured out the herbal soup, feeling a tinge of gratitude toward Cooper.

Thus, back in the bedroom, Yolanda took the initiative to say, "About the divorce, I’ll slowly talk to Grandpa. He’s reasonable..."

Before she could finish, Cooper snapped the file shut and lay down on the bed.

"Tonight you sleep on the couch," he commanded.

Yolanda truly wished she could go back in time and slap the face of her earlier self for trying to feel grateful toward Cooper.

He didn’t deserve it.

Why should she sleep on the couch? She didn’t want to.

Yolanda also got into bed and turned off the light.

"If anyone’s sleeping on the couch, it’s you. I certainly won’t."

Suddenly, she felt the bed shift and his voice was near her ear.

"Yolanda, by doing this, do you think you want to start something with me?"

Yolanda tensely clutched the blanket.

"Cooper, don’t flatter yourself, I’m not interested."

"Just stop using those lousy excuses about being drugged to keep me at a distance."

"Ha..." He chuckled softly, clearly having lain back down, "Don’t worry. Even without drugs, I have no interest in you at all."

He said this, but Cooper could clearly feel his body betraying him.

Irritated, he turned his back to Yolanda, not wanting to smell a hint of her, fearing he might lose control.

In the darkness, Yolanda pouted and turned away too.

However, the next morning when she woke up, Yolanda was still entangled with Cooper.

Even the buttons that had been fastened were now undone, revealing everything inside.

Yolanda’s face went crimson; she almost sprung out of Cooper’s embrace.

Yolanda made sure Cooper hadn’t woken up yet and hurried to freshen up.

But as soon as she left, Cooper opened his eyes.

He looked at his palm meaningfully; the soft touch from his dreams seemed to linger, leaving him yearning for more.

After freshening up, Yolanda didn’t leave but waited for Cooper to come downstairs together.

When Cooper came out to change clothes, Yolanda turned her back to him, but just the rustling sound of his clothes made her flush with embarrassment.

Finally, when Cooper had changed, the two were ready to leave the house together.

Yolanda immediately noticed that Cooper’s tie was crooked and quickly mentioned, "Your tie is crooked."

"What?" Cooper didn’t hear clearly, but he adjusted his tie subconsciously.

It got even more crooked.

Yolanda was speechless, she gritted her teeth, stepped forward, and adjusted it for him.

Her hands were particularly small, and her skin overly pale; holding the tie, there was a captivating magic about her.

Since he knew she was no longer the scheming woman, this was the first time Cooper looked at her from such a close distance.

Yolanda wasn’t tall, her appearance soft and delicate; now standing on her tiptoes, her little face was all seriousness.

Yet her whole aura, just like her name, Yolanda, felt distant, making it hard for people to approach her.

The first time Cooper had seen her, he felt...

"It’s fixed," Yolanda took a step back, distancing herself from him, "If it wasn’t, your mother would’ve complained about me again."

Cooper frowned, "My mom?"

"Yes, we’ll be getting a divorce soon, and she won’t be my mom anymore."

Yolanda stated matter-of-factly.

The man snorted and walked off first.

Yolanda pursed her lips and followed behind; she was no longer surprised by Cooper’s ungrateful behavior.

At the dining table, Isabella Ross asked about the medicinal soup from last night.

"I poured it out," Cooper said with a stern face.

"You, this child, you..." Isabella’s reproachful words got stuck in her throat because Cooper’s expression was really gloomy.

He put down his chopsticks, "I’ve said it, I don’t want children, not in this lifetime. If you see a problem with that, go adopt one from the orphanage."

"You!" Isabella Ross was furious.

"I’m done eating," Cooper put down his bowl and chopsticks and turned to leave.

"There are guests coming over tonight, come back early."

Isabella suppressed her anger and called out to Cooper’s retreating figure.

As soon as Cooper left, she vented all her anger on Yolanda.

"What man doesn’t want children? Isn’t it the woman’s fault? Yolanda, if you had any sense, you’d leave Little Cooper."

Yolanda bowed her head, enduring it; it was not that she didn’t want to leave, but it was Old Master Coldson...

"Yolanda, over the years, you and your mother have made quite a bit of money from the Coldson family, isn’t that enough?"

"Name a price; I’ll give it to you."

Yolanda put down her chopsticks and looked Isabella Ross in the eye.

"Don’t worry, once Grandpa gets better, I will divorce Cooper."

Isabella Ross was thoroughly unconvinced, "You always find an excuse."

"I’m done eating too," Yolanda, tired of explaining herself, got up and went upstairs.

Old Master Coldson saw her complexion didn’t look good, "What’s the matter? Did your mother scold you again?"

"No," Yolanda forced a smile, "I don’t want to upset the elderly."

"You don’t have to mind her," Old Master Coldson said earnestly, "She only takes her frustration out on you because she can’t do anything about Little Cooper."

The old man’s face carried a relieved smile as he spoke.

Clearly in his eyes, his dear Little Yolanda was about to prevail, and his beloved grandson was finally coming to his senses.

"Grandpa," Yolanda felt a tinge of guilt, "actually..."
