Chapter 483: Is Uncle Coldson Really My Dad?
Chapter 483: Chapter 483: Is Uncle Coldson Really My Dad?
"What did you say?" The old man was clearly skeptical.
"Sir, I’m not lying to you, this child is not Adam Sterling’s daughter, she’s mine." Cooper Coldson repeated.
Adrian Sterling squinted at him, "You can’t fool me, I saw with my own eyes that she called Adam Sterling ’Dad’. It can’t be wrong."
"Really, I’m not lying to you." Cooper Coldson further offered, "Sir, please release the child. If you need money, I can give it to you, no matter how much. She truly is my daughter."
"Boo hoo hoo..." Little Ella cried fearfully and looked puzzled at Cooper Coldson after hearing his words.
"Ella, be good, don’t cry. Daddy is here, and Daddy will definitely save you." Cooper Coldson felt heartbroken.
"Ella!" At this moment, Yolanda Greenwood arrived.
"Mommy, Mommy, I’m so scared, I’m so scared." Little Ella began to struggle wildly again.
"You little rascal, behave yourself." Adrian Sterling pressed her down hard, puzzled that the little girl struggled with all her might, as if her life depended on it.
Yolanda Greenwood was crying uncontrollably, afraid that Little Ella might hurt herself while struggling. She quickly comforted, "Ella, be good, don’t be scared. Just wait quietly, don’t struggle, listen!"
Her legs were weak, almost unable to stand, "Sir, please let the child go. If you want anything, come at me. Please release my daughter."
Seeing she was not well, Cooper Coldson quickly went over to support her and whispered, "Tell him the child is mine."
Yolanda Greenwood instantly understood. Since the old man was here for Adam Sterling, saying the child wasn’t Adam Sterling’s might be safer.
"Sir, this child is not Adam Sterling’s, really." She quickly said aloud.
Adrian Sterling frowned, "Are you telling the truth?"
"Yes, really." They both replied in unison.
Yolanda Greenwood further explained, "When I was with Adam Sterling, I had already given birth to the child. This child really isn’t Adam Sterling’s."
"Sir, as long as you release the child, anything you want is possible, whatever amount of money." Cooper Coldson repeated.
"Ah!" Adrian Sterling sighed, "What do you take me for? Do you really think I’m a child trafficker?"
Unexpectedly, he loosened his grip on Little Ella’s arm.
"Mommy!" Little Ella immediately ran over and rushed into Yolanda Greenwood’s arms, "Mommy!"
"Good girl, Ella, don’t be afraid! Mommy is here!" Yolanda Greenwood hugged the child in her arms tightly, filled with a boundless ache.
Adrian Sterling walked over step by step.
Cooper Coldson immediately became alert and shielded Yolanda and her daughter behind him, vigilantly watching the old man across, "Who exactly are you? What exactly do you want?"
"I am Adam Sterling’s father." Adam pulled out an ID and some photos and letters, "Look, I’m not lying."
Cooper Coldson and Yolanda Greenwood exchanged a suspicious glance, taking the photos and letters to check.
The photos mostly showed a young Adam Sterling with this man, and the letters seemed to be ones Adam Sterling wrote to the man after entering university, suggesting this man must be Adam Sterling’s father.
Yolanda Greenwood was even more puzzled. If this was Adam Sterling’s father, why did Adam claim his father was dead? And he said this after seeing his father, why?
Additionally, it was clear Adam Sterling feared this man greatly, what was going on?
Adrian Sterling continued, "I took this little girl without any ulterior motive, just to see my son."
He looked at Yolanda Greenwood, "Are you Adam Sterling’s girlfriend now? Or wife? Can you take me to see Adam Sterling?"
Yolanda Greenwood fell silent immediately. She didn’t understand the situation, so there was no way she would bring the old man back.
"Sir, would this work for you?" Cooper Coldson, understanding Yolanda’s intention, spoke up immediately, "I’ll first find a place for you to settle down, then have Adam Sterling personally come over to apologize. How about it?"
Yolanda Greenwood glanced at Cooper Coldson, somewhat embarrassed.
Adrian Sterling frowned, "I don’t have a penny on me."
"Don’t worry, sir, I’ll cover your food and lodging, and even provide a driver for you." Cooper Coldson called over Richard Reyes, who was nearby, and said to Adrian Sterling, "He’s my assistant and will arrange everything for you."
Adrian Sterling was clearly moved and looked at Yolanda Greenwood again, "Then remember to tell Adam Sterling to come find me on his own. Tell him not to wait until I catch him, or I won’t let him go."
"Sir, I will pass the message." Yolanda Greenwood nodded.
Cooper Coldson gave a signal to Richard Reyes, who then led Adrian Sterling away.
Yolanda Greenwood visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
"What on earth is going on?" Cooper Coldson looked at Yolanda Greenwood helplessly.
Yolanda Greenwood shook her head, "This old man should be Adam Sterling’s father, but what happened between them, I have no idea."
She looked gratefully at Cooper Coldson, "Thank you so much today, if it weren’t for you... I really wouldn’t know what..."
She looked at Little Ella in her arms, "Ella, quick, say thank you."
Little Ella hugged Yolanda Greenwood’s neck, her big eyes looking at Cooper Coldson, then suddenly tilted her head and asked, "Mommy, is Uncle Coldson really my dad?"
"..." Yolanda Greenwood instantly didn’t know how to answer.
"Of course not." Cooper Coldson smiled, gently pinching Little Ella’s nose, "You little silly, we were just fooling that grandpa."
"Oh!" The little one seemed a bit disappointed and leaned on Yolanda Greenwood’s shoulder again, "I don’t like that grandpa, I don’t."
"Good girl, Mommy understands, it’s not Ella’s fault." Yolanda Greenwood patted the little one’s back soothingly.
She looked at Cooper Coldson gratefully again, with a bit of guilt, and said repeatedly, "Really, thank you. Thank you so much."
"Alright, don’t be so formal with me." Cooper Coldson stroked Little Ella’s head gently and said warmly, "I like our Ella, you can always trouble me with Ella’s matters."
Upon hearing this, Little Ella was visibly happy, squinting her eyes at Cooper Coldson, "I like Uncle Coldson."
Seeing the little one’s mood had finally improved, and that it was getting late, Cooper Coldson tentatively asked Yolanda Greenwood, "Are you going home? Can I give you a ride?"
"Not going home." Yolanda Greenwood shook her head.
"Oh." Cooper Coldson’s smile faltered, seeming to be rejected.
"We’re going to find Adam Sterling. If it’s convenient, could we trouble you to..." Seeing his reaction, Yolanda Greenwood realized he misunderstood.
"Of course, convenient, very convenient." Cooper Coldson became excited again.
Yolanda Greenwood silently tugged at the corners of her mouth.
In the car, Yolanda Greenwood kept looking out the window. She really couldn’t imagine, if it hadn’t been for Cooper Coldson today, when would they have found Ella?
Although it seemed Adrian Sterling had no ill intentions towards Ella, Ella must have been very frightened, and she herself was worried to death.
Compared to Cooper Coldson, Adam Sterling, who was the cause of all this yet completely absent, really made one feel chilly and showed a lack of responsibility.
Yolanda Greenwood secretly decided to find Adam Sterling and get to the bottom of things.
