Chapter 481: Chapter 481: Little Ella Was Taken Away by Grandpa
Adam Sterling was trembling all over, forcing himself to calm down, but couldn’t control his body’s reaction.
"Adam, what’s going on with you?" Yolanda was increasingly anxious, with Little Ella scared and hiding behind her, "Who on earth is that old man?"
"Dad!" Adam quickly repeated.
"Dad?" Yolanda was doubtful, thinking she’d misheard, "Adam, what did you say? That’s your dad? Didn’t you say your dad..."
She remembered clearly that not long ago Adam had collapsed due to his father’s death, so how could another dad show up?
"No, not my dad," Adam seemed to regain some clarity, "A criminal, someone I had captured..."
He grabbed Yolanda’s arm, "Yolanda, that person is here for revenge. His son was sentenced to death, so he hates me, he wants revenge on me."
"What?" Yolanda widened her eyes in shock, no wonder the old man seemed strange, and Adam was scared just upon seeing him.
She quickly picked up Little Ella, "What should we do? Should we call the police?"
"Calling the police is useless." Adam shook his head, "After all, he hasn’t done anything, the police have no reason to arrest him."
Yolanda nodded in agreement, "Then what should we do?"
Adam thought for a moment and said, "Don’t go out, he should leave soon, just lock the doors and windows."
"Okay, okay." Yolanda hurriedly instructed the nurse to keep an eye on the old man for any wrongdoing and to lock the doors and windows to prevent any chance for him.
About half an hour later, the nurse finally reported that the strange old man had left.
Subconsciously, Yolanda looked at Adam, who obviously breathed a sigh of relief, but she still felt it was dangerous.
"Adam, that old man already knows you’re here at the mental clinic, even if he leaves now, he might come back tomorrow?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Adam angrily glared at her, "What? You’re hoping he comes back tomorrow?"
"Of course not, I just feel that hiding isn’t a solution," Yolanda looked helpless, "I don’t mind, but what if he harms Ella?"
"He won’t." Adam quickly said, seeing that Yolanda still looked uneasy, "Alright, if worst comes to worst, you just don’t come here for a few days."
"What about you?" Yolanda tentatively asked.
"Of course I won’t come either, after all, he hates me the most, do you want me to court death?" Adam’s emotions were clearly still unstable.
Yolanda didn’t bother saying anything more to him and went back with Little Ella.
The mental consultation room practically had to shut down on the first day of opening. She didn’t know what Adam planned to do; at this time, with Adam in a bad mood, it wasn’t suitable to bring up these issues, she could only wait and discuss it later.
In the following days, Adam barely went out, but there were nurses on duty at the consultation room every day, and there were many scheduled patients.
"How was today?" This day, Yolanda picked up Little Ella and asked with concern.
"It went well, we got three more scheduled patients." Adam was obviously in a good mood, "Looks like people still trust me a lot."
Yolanda nodded, "The other day Professor Seward came, so many industry insiders know about it, it’s like free advertising for you."
"Yeah, my teacher has a lot of influence." Adam smiled while holding Little Ella, asking some things about kindergarten.
Yolanda hesitated for a moment, then continued to ask, "By the way, has that... criminal’s father shown up recently?"
"No, I guess he’s already left." Adam looked even happier saying this.
"That’s good." Yolanda also breathed a sigh of relief, "So when will you..."
"Don’t worry, I’ll go to the clinic tomorrow, won’t let you and our little one go hungry." Adam clearly guessed what Yolanda meant.
Yolanda pulled a convulsive smile, "It doesn’t matter whether you earn or not, my current income can support our family, mainly...the mental clinic is your dream, if you just give up like this, it would be a pity, and would disappoint Professor Seward."
"Got it, don’t worry."
Sure enough, the next day, Adam went to the clinic early.
Yolanda was still responsible for taking and picking up Little Ella. After taking her daughter to kindergarten, she and Daisy Dawson went to meet a client.
However, at two in the afternoon, an unexpected call came from the kindergarten.
"Miss Greenwood, is Ella already home?" the teacher asked with a smile over the phone.
"Ella went home?" Yolanda was confused, "What do you mean? Isn’t Ella at kindergarten?"
"You don’t know?" There was a slight urgency in the teacher’s voice, "At noon, Ella’s grandpa came to pick her up, said he was taking her to eat something nice, but never brought her back, didn’t he take her home directly?"
Yolanda’s face turned pale at once, "Who did you say took Ella? Her grandpa?"
"Yes, an old gentleman, he even had a photo with Adam, should be a father-son duo, how come..." the kindergarten teacher also noticed something’s wrong now.
"That wasn’t Ella’s grandpa, Ella’s grandpa has passed away." Yolanda was exceedingly anxious, "Teacher, please report it now, I’ll come over immediately."
Without delay, she simply explained a few things, then hurriedly took a taxi to the kindergarten.
On the way, she urgently called Adam, but after several attempts, she couldn’t reach him, she was incredibly anxious.
Arriving at the kindergarten, Yolanda confirmed the old man’s appearance and figure with the teacher, they could basically be sure he was that criminal’s father.
"It shouldn’t be like this." Even the kindergarten teacher was frightened, "That old man had a photo with your husband, and the two of them seemed very close, not like enemies."
Yolanda felt uncertain again and tried to call Adam once more, but still couldn’t get through.
"No matter what, we must find the child first."
Soon, the police arrived, and Yolanda and the kindergarten teacher gave brief testimonies, but the police also found it peculiar.
"Still can’t reach the child’s father?" the officer asked Yolanda. Clearly, finding Adam to clarify things was the quickest.
Yolanda nodded, she had been calling constantly, but couldn’t get through, the phone battery was about to die.
"Apologies, the child’s father is a psychologist, his phone is on silent during sessions, might be busy." she pleaded with the police, "No matter what, this old man taking the child without our permission is suspicious, please help us find the child quickly."
The officer nodded, "Rest assured, we’ll do our best, but there’s a major case in Gray City recently, our resources are stretched thin, so see if you can initiate some help from friends and family."
He finally reminded Yolanda, "Moreover, based on your description, it seems your husband is hiding something, so the quickest approach is to contact him, understand?"
"Okay, I’ll head to the clinic to find him immediately."
