Chapter 472: Chapter 472: Are you afraid of forgetting someone important?

Yolanda swayed unsteadily.

"What’s wrong?" Cooper rushed over to support her.

Yolanda leaned against Cooper, her mind in disarray, with many images flashing by rapidly. She tried hard to see them clearly, but she couldn’t discern anything.

"Yolanda, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Seeing her dazed expression, Cooper couldn’t help but get nervous.

Yolanda shook her head and finally managed to see Cooper’s anxious expression clearly.

She quickly stood upright, "I’m fine, I just felt a bit dizzy a moment ago, but I’m okay now."

"That’s good." Cooper breathed a sigh of relief.

"Let’s go back." Yolanda spoke uncomfortably.

"Okay." So, when night fell, they finally reached the foot of the mountain, and Cooper drove Yolanda back.

On the way, Yolanda asked, "Is there anywhere else? I’m actually quite curious about what happened later on?"

"..." Cooper didn’t speak. Having to say those things out loud, he really couldn’t do it.

After thinking for a while, he slowly spoke, "If you really want to know, I can take you to meet someone."

"Someone? What kind of person?" Yolanda was very curious. Could it be that she had a deep relationship with someone in Gray City?

Cooper nodded, paused, and then said, "It’s a death row inmate."

"What?" Yolanda was so shocked she widened her eyes, "A death row inmate? Am I familiar with them?"

"Yes." Thinking of Melissa, the hatred in Cooper’s eyes was unmistakable, "She’s not just familiar with you, she’s practically your lifelong nemesis..."

He glanced at Yolanda, "Aren’t you curious why there aren’t any childhood photos of you at home? She might be able to give you the answer."

Yolanda didn’t speak. She just felt her heartbeat quicken, and her palms started sweating as if her body and brain were already afraid of this person.

Cooper quickly noticed that she wasn’t in a good state and immediately regretted his impulsiveness, "Yolanda, it’s okay if you don’t want to see her. I can take you somewhere else."

"Let’s go see her. We should." Yolanda quickly made up her mind, "A death row inmate, if I don’t see her now, there won’t be any chances in the future, right?"

"Alright, I’ll pick you up on time tomorrow."

After taking Yolanda home, Cooper quickly left.

Yolanda went upstairs, intending to knock on the door, but saw the door open from the inside, with Adam standing cold-faced behind it.

"Sorry, am I back late?" She was a bit apologetic as it was already past eight in the evening.

"Is Mom back?" Little Ella’s voice came from inside the house.

"As long as you’re back." Adam said coldly and turned away.

Little Ella ran over, noticing Yolanda had changed her clothes, and happily said, "Mom bought new clothes, they’re so pretty."

"Thank you, sweetheart." Yolanda put down her bag and picked up Little Ella, "Ella, have you eaten yet?"

"Yes, Daddy made my favorite ribs." Little Ella noticed Adam’s strange expression and got tense again.

"Good girl, go play in your room by yourself, Mommy hasn’t eaten yet." Yolanda escorted Little Ella back to the room, and as she was about to leave, Little Ella tugged at her hem.

"Daddy seems unhappy, you should comfort him." The little one said with big, blinking eyes.

"Alright, sweetie." Yolanda thought for a moment, changed her clothes, and came out again.

She went straight to the kitchen and found leftovers in the trash can, with nothing left for her in the fridge. Adam was clearly upset.

She had no choice but to order delivery food.

Returning to the living room, Yolanda apologized, "I didn’t mean to come back so late, Cooper took me..."

"You two even wore matching outfits," Adam sneered, "Why were you in such a hurry to take them off? They looked so nice. Why not wear them a bit longer?"

"I’m sorry, Adam, today Cooper..." Yolanda wanted to explain.

"You don’t owe me any explanations," Adam stood up in a huff, "Think of Ella before you do something, don’t let anyone talk about her behind her back, calling her mother shameless for messing around with men."

"What are you talking about, Adam?" Yolanda got angry, "Weren’t you the one who agreed for me to find Cooper? Does what you’re saying now sound nice?"

"What I say might not sound nice, but do your actions look nice?" Adam retorted.

Yolanda felt helpless, "Adam, can’t you simplify this issue a bit? I just want to quickly regain my memory; I haven’t thought about anything else."

"Yolanda, ask yourself honestly, who are you trying to regain your memory for?" Adam gave a cold laugh, "Before we came to Gray City, for three years, you never said you wanted to recover your memories, so why now? Are you scared of forgetting someone important? Or something important?"

Yolanda felt Adam was being unreasonable, and she didn’t want to continue arguing with him.

"Alright, one last time, tomorrow’s the last time," she sighed, "Cooper said he would take me to see a death row inmate. This inmate might..."

"A death row inmate?" Adam furrowed his brow, instantly thinking of this person, "Melissa Greenwood?"

"You know too?"

"Of course I know." Adam was somewhat surprised, he hadn’t expected Cooper to take Yolanda to see Melissa Greenwood. Once she met Melissa, Yolanda might actually recall something. Wasn’t Cooper afraid? Or had he already placed his full confidence in Yolanda?

Imagining the two of them spending the whole day together, and not knowing what had happened, made Adam grit his teeth in resentment.

"Yolanda, if you degrade yourself and have something happen with Cooper again, let me tell you, Ella and I will never forgive you!"

Finishing his words without giving Yolanda the chance to reply, he turned and strode back to his room.

Yolanda was simply on the verge of tears. What could she possibly have with Cooper? She really didn’t know what Adam was thinking all the time.

She shook her head helplessly.

After falling asleep that night, Yolanda had many dreams. In her dreams, there were images of her chasing Cooper with laughter in the sunshine, scenes of her secretly carving Cooper’s name in a small grove, and scenes of her cornering Cooper against a wall to kiss his cheek.

When she woke up with a start, Yolanda’s face was flushed red, her back was sweaty, her heart raced like a drum, this feeling... It was like she was truly in love with Cooper.

How could this be?

"Mom, what’s wrong?" Little Ella asked groggily, "Did you have a nightmare?"

"It’s nothing, Mommy’s fine." Yolanda saw that it was still early, so she lay back down, but no matter what, she couldn’t fall back asleep.

She didn’t know if her sealed memories were haunting her or if she was really starting to have other feelings for Cooper. In any case, it really wasn’t right for her to see Cooper frequently anymore.

She quietly told herself that after meeting that death row inmate, she would stop seeing Cooper altogether.

No matter the outcome, she had to continue living well with Adam.
