Chapter 465: Chapter 465: Do You Know Melissa Greenwood?
Yolanda didn’t say anything.
Adam Sterling immediately felt anxious, almost pleading, "Yolanda, think carefully, before we returned to Gray City, how good was our family, you and I never argued, don’t you miss those times?"
"Adam, I’ve told you before, Gabriel is in Gray City, I..." Yolanda sighed softly and continued, "And, just as you said, I shouldn’t keep you waiting."
Adam instantly became nervous, "You mean..."
"Adam, I want to retrieve my past memories." Yolanda’s expression was firm, clearly a decision made after much thought.
"But..." Adam instinctively wanted to stop her.
"I know everything, you’ve said it before too, this kind of forgetting is the brain’s protection mechanism. I used to think it’s okay to forget," Yolanda said earnestly, "but it’s not supposed to be like this. Even if we leave Gray City, we’re just avoiding it, aren’t we?"
She continued to persuade Adam, "Adam, I believe that perhaps there are some unpleasant memories from the past, but the parts belonging to you and me, they are certainly beautiful, right?"
"Of course." Adam affirmed without hesitation.
Seeing that Yolanda had already decided, Adam could only accept it, "Yolanda, wanting to recover your memories is a good thing, I naturally agree, just... I can’t help but feel a bit heartbroken, but since you have already made up your mind, then we’ll all stick together as a family."
"Thank you, Adam." Yolanda was very happy, at this moment, she felt that Adam was once again the familiar person he used to be.
"Alright, I’ve also made an appointment with Cooper, if I don’t leave now, I’ll be late." Adam tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Then, I’ll go first."
"Adam," Yolanda stopped him but seemed hesitant, and after a while, she finally asked, "About Gabriel, did you... lie?"
Adam let out a bitter laugh, looking helpless, "Yolanda, I don’t want to talk about this again, about Gabriel’s illness, I won’t intervene anymore, a psychologist who is not trusted can do nothing."
He turned and left quickly.
Yolanda frowned, subconsciously she wanted to trust Little Gabriel, but towards Adam... she felt she shouldn’t doubt him.
After Adam left the house, he didn’t hurry to the place agreed with Cooper but was late by an hour.
"Sorry, I seem to be late." He smiled nonchalantly at Cooper and naturally sat across from him.
Cooper’s expression didn’t reveal much emotion, and he said lightly, "You did it on purpose."
"Hahaha..." Adam laughed, "President Coldson is indeed smart."
Cooper frowned, even he found the current Adam a bit unfamiliar.
"These are Gabriel’s things," Adam casually threw the bag he brought on the ground, "Honestly, there’s no need, just buy a new set..."
He intentionally leaned closer, lowered his voice, and said with a mischievous grin, "Who knows if I did anything with these things?"
"Adam!" Cooper, furious, grabbed Adam’s collar, "How dare you?"
Adam pried his hand away with force, his expression turning cold, "Try to take Yolanda and Ella away again, and you’ll see if I dare."
"Take away?" Cooper sneered, "You really think of them as your possessions, it’s ridiculous."
He stood up, picked up Little Gabriel’s things, and looked at Adam, "I met with you today just to tell you, you will definitely make Yolanda and Ella return to my side, after all, we are the real family."
The word "real" clearly pricked Adam, and for a moment, his expression twisted a bit, he also stood up.
"Cooper, I have another piece of important information, something you might want to know, about Yolanda."
Cooper frowned, neither asking further nor in a rush to leave.
Adam chuckled lightly, "Yolanda has decided to recover those lost memories."
Cooper’s face instantly changed, it took him a while to speak unbelievably, "You... agreed?"
"Yes, I agreed. Yolanda recovering her memory at most means our fake marriage is dissolved, but you..." Adam crossed his arms, looking as if enjoying a good show, "Considering the things you did in the past, how do you think Yolanda will see you then?"
Cooper’s face turned pale.
Adam laughed softly, "Cooper, if I were you, I would dispel any delusions, leave Gray City, to avoid becoming enemies, why bother?"
He soon left, whistling.
Cooper slumped back into the chair, now at least he could still coexist peacefully with Yolanda, but if Yolanda recovered her memory, would they have any chance of meeting again?
He could hardly imagine it.
He sat alone for almost an hour, then called Richard Reyes over.
"President Coldson!" Richard responded respectfully, seeing Cooper’s face didn’t look well, "Are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?"
Cooper handed over the bag, "Have it checked, confirm there are no issues, then send it to my house."
"Yes." Richard tentatively asked, "Then... President Coldson, aren’t you going back with me?"
Cooper shook his head, "I’ll walk on my own."
"Alright." Richard took Little Gabriel’s bag and left quickly.
Cooper left the cafe alone, let out a long sigh, and began to walk aimlessly.
He wasn’t very clear about his direction, just kept walking along a path.
He didn’t know how long he had walked when suddenly his phone rang, it was an unfamiliar number, a landline.
Cooper suspiciously answered the call.
"Hello, this is Black Mountain Prison in Gray City, are you Mr. Coldson?"
"Prison?" Cooper felt even more puzzled, he didn’t know anyone in prison, "Yes, I’m Cooper Coldson, may I ask what this is about?"
"Mr. Coldson, are you acquainted with Melissa Greenwood?"
"Melissa Greenwood?" Cooper frowned even deeper, "Yes."
"It’s like this, Melissa Greenwood is scheduled to be executed at the end of this month," the voice on the other end sounded level, "Her last wish is to see you and Ms. Yolanda Greenwood."
Cooper remained silent.
The person quickly added, "Mr. Coldson, you need not feel any psychological burden, fulfilling the last wish of a death row inmate is a humanitarian gesture from our side, you can refuse this request."
Cooper immediately said, "Sorry, I have no need to meet this person again."
"Understood." The person, however, did not hang up immediately, "By the way, do you have contact with Ms. Yolanda Greenwood? We tried the number she previously left but couldn’t reach it."
Cooper thought for a moment and lied, "Sorry, I have long since lost contact with Yolanda..."
"I see, then nothing can be done." The person quickly hung up the phone, "Sorry to bother you."
