Chapter 463: Chapter 463: He Must Not Lose This Chess Piece
Yolanda desperately tried to dodge, using both her hands and feet to resist, and soon Adam Sterling’s face was bloodied.
"Adam, clear your head, clear your head!" Yolanda cried and pleaded with him, "I beg you, don’t be like this, don’t be like this."
"Yolanda, I’ve had enough, I’ve had enough a long time ago." But Adam still showed no intention of turning back.
At that moment, the bedroom door suddenly opened, and Little Ella, drowsy from sleep, walked in. When she saw the scene in the room, she suddenly burst into tears.
Yolanda and Adam both jumped in shock.
In an instant, a surge of strength flowed through Yolanda’s body, and she pushed Adam aside. She quickly got off the bed and picked up Little Ella, "Ella dear, don’t cry, don’t be afraid, it’s okay, it’s okay."
Adam also came to his senses, seeing Yolanda holding Little Ella and walking out, he immediately said, "Sorry, I’m sorry."
Yolanda ignored him and took Little Ella back to the bedroom, locking the door. Her body was constantly shaking.
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Little Ella sniffled and kindly helped Yolanda wipe her tears, "Mom, did Dad bully you?"
She pursed her lips, remembering Adam’s appearance just now, and started crying again, "Mom, what’s wrong with Dad? Is he sick?"
Yolanda felt extreme heartache, holding her child in her arms, she didn’t know what was wrong with Adam, why her life suddenly turned out like this?
"It’s okay, Ella dear, it’s okay, it’s okay now." As a mother, she had to be strong and couldn’t let her child get hurt.
She put Little Ella on the bed, softly coaxing her to sleep, "Ella dear, it’s okay now, Mom’s here, Mom’s here..."
She gently patted Little Ella’s small body.
Little Ella was very well-behaved; even though she was very scared and couldn’t sleep, she still closed her eyes so as not to worry her mom.
Yolanda’s tears kept falling now and then, she quickly wiped them away and continued to soothe Little Ella.
This time, she coaxed for a very long time before Little Ella finally fell asleep.
Yolanda carefully got off the bed, sat on the floor, hugging herself with her knees up. Her mind was too chaotic, everything happened too suddenly, she had no time to react.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated, it was Cooper Coldson calling.
Yolanda’s first reaction was to answer the call, not knowing why, but Cooper Coldson unexpectedly became a presence that could make her feel safe at this moment.
After hesitating for a while, she eventually went to the living room and answered the call.
"Hello?" Yolanda said softly, trying to make her voice sound normal.
"Not asleep, huh?" Cooper Coldson sounded a bit apologetic, he was actually worried about Yolanda, fearing she would argue with Adam, he hesitated for a long time before finally having the courage to call.
"Not yet." Yolanda replied.
Cooper instantly frowned, "Yolanda, what’s wrong with you? Have you been crying?"
"Huh?" Yolanda was startled and quickly denied, "No, no."
But Cooper was very certain, "Yolanda, your voice doesn’t sound right, what’s the matter? Did you argue with Adam? Did he bully you?"
Yolanda didn’t expect Cooper to notice the abnormality in her voice; she’d been very careful.
She was somewhat moved, immediately covering her mouth to stop herself from crying out.
On the other end, Cooper was even more anxious, "Should I come over now? Yolanda, speak to me, I’m really worried about you, did Adam bully you?"
"No." Yolanda quickly stopped him; at this moment, she couldn’t pretend any longer, "Cooper, don’t come, I’m fine."
"Then why are you crying?" Cooper felt immense heartache, "What did that bastard Adam do?"
"Nothing, really, nothing." Yolanda said as she shed tears, trying to comfort Cooper, "You said it too, couples do argue, it’s nothing, you don’t need to come."
Cooper could only suppress himself, "Yolanda, are you sure you’re really okay?"
"Really okay." Yolanda cleared her throat, "Trust me."
"Alright, Yolanda, I trust you, but I hope you know, whenever you need, I’ll always be there for you without hesitation, anytime, okay?"
Yolanda’s tears overflowed once again, she could only say two words, "Thank you."
"Yolanda, I want to see Adam tomorrow." Cooper spoke again, knowing that Yolanda was bullied, he couldn’t just stand by.
Yolanda hesitated, worried that the two might argue if they met.
"Yolanda, trust me, I’ll handle it well. Adam is Ella’s dad now, Ella cares about him a lot, I’ll consider it for Ella."
"Okay." Ultimately, Yolanda nodded; some issues, especially concerning Ella, perhaps having Cooper step forward might make Adam seriously think.
"Then wait a moment, I’ll take the phone to Adam." When she came out a while ago, she saw the light was on in Adam’s room, so Adam must be awake.
Yolanda quickly went to knock on Adam’s room door, the door opened soon, and indeed Adam was awake.
Adam looked at Yolanda with an agitated expression, just as he was about to say something, he saw her hand over the phone.
He frowned suspiciously and put the phone to his ear, "Hello?"
"Let’s meet tomorrow." Cooper’s cold voice sounded, "It’s just perfect for you to hand me Ella’s things; I also want to ask about Ella’s condition."
Adam looked towards Yolanda and replied to the other end, "Alright."
"Then I’ll arrange the time and place, and have Yolanda inform you." Cooper continued.
Adam hung up the phone and returned it to Yolanda.
Yolanda hadn’t looked at Adam from start to finish, she retrieved the phone, turned, and was about to leave.
"Yolanda!" Adam grabbed Yolanda’s arm.
"Let go!" Yolanda said coldly.
Adam hesitated for a moment but eventually let go of Yolanda’s arm, watching her return to the room.
He closed his room door and stood at the entrance for a long time. He wondered if Yolanda had called Cooper, was Cooper going to confront him for Yolanda tomorrow?
The hatred in his eyes grew stronger.
Early the next morning, Adam got up early to prepare breakfast. When he saw Yolanda finally coming out of the room, he stepped forward wanting to say something, but didn’t expect Yolanda to completely ignore him and go past him to leave.
Adam frowned, thought about it, and then went into Yolanda’s bedroom where he indeed saw Little Ella sitting drowsily.
"Ella, are you awake?" He stepped forward, "How about Daddy carries you to wash up?"
Unexpectedly, Little Ella immediately became alert, seeing Adam approach, the little one instinctively stepped back, with fear written all over her face.
Adam’s outstretched hand froze in mid-air, how could this be? This child was actually afraid of him?
He suddenly grew impetuous. Little Ella had always been his most loyal supporter, the bond between him and Yolanda; he absolutely couldn’t lose this chess piece.
Absolutely not!
