Chapter 449: Chapter 449: I Will Never Betray This Marriage
"Of course." Cooper looked at Yolanda expectantly, "Let Ella go, I will definitely take good care of her."
Yolanda finally nodded and gently asked Little Ella, "Do you want to go?"
"Yeah." Little Ella replied softly, clearly afraid that her grandfather didn’t want to go home.
"Sweetheart, you can go to your brother’s house for a few days, and when you want to come home, Mommy will come and get you, okay?" For the three years lost to amnesia, Yolanda almost never left Little Ella’s side, and it was hard for her to let go right now.
"Mommy, I love you." Little Ella hugged Yolanda’s neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "I’ll just play at brother’s house for a little while and then come back home."
Cooper also noticed Yolanda’s emotions, "You can visit her at my house anytime, or if you find it inconvenient, we can meet somewhere outside. It’s all up to you."
Yolanda smiled and nodded, "Then I’ll be counting on you. Call me if you have any questions."
She carefully handed the child to Cooper and said softly, "You guys go on ahead."
"Okay." Cooper said to the little one in his arms, "Ella, say goodbye to Mommy."
Little Ella pouted and waved her hand, "Goodbye, Mommy. I will miss you."
"Goodbye, Mommy. Daddy and I will miss you too." Little Gabriel quickly added.
Cooper blushed and, seeing that Yolanda wasn’t irritated, breathed a sigh of relief and left with Little Ella and Little Gabriel.
Yolanda stood there watching them get into the car, waved her hand again, "Goodbye!"
On the way home, she cried for quite a while. After thinking it over, she sent a message to Cooper, [If Ella doesn’t like it, just bring her back or I’ll come pick her up. Sorry for the trouble.]
Cooper replied quickly, [Don’t worry!]
When Yolanda got home, just as the hotel was delivering gifts and flowers back, she was slightly surprised, not expecting the hotel to send the flowers over too.
The flowers in the room were already a bit wilted, but the delivered ones were still fresh, clearly prepared anew by the hotel.
"You’re back." Adam walked over in a few steps, "These things...the hotel sent them."
"Oh, I had them brought over," Yolanda answered as she changed her shoes, "I went to the hotel yesterday. Didn’t expect Cooper to throw a birthday party for the kids."
She immediately looked at Adam and explained, "However, it was just me celebrating the kids’ birthday. Cooper wasn’t there."
"He wasn’t there?" Adam chuckled, "He should have attended; he’s the kids’ father after all. Yolanda, you can relax, I’m not petty. I can understand such trivial matters."
Yolanda tugged at the corner of her mouth, "He probably had something to do."
"And the flowers?" Adam asked again, "These are baby’s breath, right? Also from Cooper for Ella?"
"Yes." Yolanda, having changed her shoes, hurried into the house, avoiding Adam’s eyes.
"Very pretty." Adam smiled.
Suddenly, he seemed to realize something and asked, a bit puzzled, "Where’s Ella? Why didn’t she return with you?"
"Ah, Ella went to Gabriel’s house." Yolanda lowered her voice, "The child is still a bit scared."
Adam understood, nodding slightly, with a hint of displeasure between his brows, "She must indeed have been frightened yesterday."
"Where’s Dad?"
Adam pointed to a room over there, "He’s been staying in the room since yesterday returning; he didn’t eat dinner last night nor breakfast today. You should talk to him."
"Okay." Yolanda felt an ache in her heart, "Then please heat up breakfast."
Adam nodded and turned to the kitchen.
Yolanda sighed with a bit of guilt; she had instinctively lied about the flowers just now. For some reason, she couldn’t admit that the flowers were from Cooper for herself.
She shook her head at herself and hurried to see Jaxon.
Jaxon had clearly returned to normal by this time. Seeing her come in, he immediately lowered his head and murmured, "Dad has caused you trouble again."
"No, it’s nothing." Yolanda approached and squatted beside the wheelchair, "Dad, really it’s nothing, don’t worry about it."
Jaxon looked at his daughter tenderly; he truly hadn’t anticipated Cooper would attend yesterday’s birthday party, nor that he would get sick upon seeing Cooper.
"Yolanda, are you still in contact with Cooper?"
"Dad, no matter what, Cooper is Gabriel’s father and also Ella’s father. It’s the first time for the two kids to celebrate their birthday together; there’s no way I could stop Cooper from attending." Yolanda explained patiently.
Jaxon appeared disapproving, "Did you think about what Adam might think?"
Yolanda frowned, "Adam agreed."
"Of course he’d agree; he cares about you so much. When has he ever opposed anything you said?" Jaxon’s tone intensified.
Yolanda lowered her head, feeling guiltier inside, and now even more self-reproach.
"Yolanda, sweetie, Dad’s been through a lot, Dad won’t be mistaken," Jaxon advised earnestly, "You and Adam are the ones who can truly make it in the end. Adam is the one you and Ella can rely on, you understand?"
"Dad, I understand." Yolanda nodded.
"As for Cooper," Jaxon snorted, "You’ll understand how much of a jerk he was once you regain your memories."
"But...maybe he’s changed now." Yolanda couldn’t help but defend Cooper.
Jaxon stared at her in surprise.
"Dad, there’s nothing between him and me," Yolanda hurriedly began to explain, "It’s just that after coming back to Gray City, I’ve had some dealings with him, and he really has helped me and Ella a lot. I just feel...he might have changed a lot."
"It’s all a charade," Jaxon said in a disappointed tone, "I warn you, Yolanda, if you dare get involved with Cooper again, don’t call me your father."
"..." Yolanda was helpless, "Dad, what are you talking about? Don’t worry, I am married to Adam already, I won’t do anything to let this marriage down."
Jaxon’s expression changed but he didn’t say anything more.
"Dad, Yolanda, breakfast is ready, come out and eat." Adam appeared at just the right moment.
"Let’s go, Dad, I’ll push you out to have breakfast," Yolanda stood up and pushed the wheelchair, "You can’t be this capricious anymore; not eating isn’t good."
Coming out of the bedroom, Jaxon noticed something, "Where’s Ella? Didn’t she come back?"
"Oh, Ella was having so much fun with Gabriel yesterday that today she insisted on not coming back, let her be." Yolanda hurriedly explained.
Jaxon sighed, "She’s afraid of me."
"No, Dad, don’t think too much." Yolanda comforted immediately, signaling Adam with her eyes, though Adam didn’t seem to notice.
Jaxon was silent for a while before speaking again, "No, I can’t get used to living here at your place. Send me back today."
"Dad, what’s the rush?" Yolanda tugged at Adam’s sleeve.
"Dad, stay a few more days, since both Yolanda and I aren’t busy, and Ella isn’t here, we can accompany you around," suggested Adam.
"No need." Jaxon was evidently very resolute, "After breakfast, send me back. That’s decided!"
