Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé
Chapter 435: She Learned All of This for Him

Chapter 435: Chapter 435: She Learned All of This for Him

In the afternoon, after Adam Sterling returned, Yolanda Greenwood told him about the progress of the situation.

"Cooper Coldson came over today representing the Coldson Group to apologize, and said they have already fired that vice president. Later, the general manager of the Children’s Wear Group also came over,"

she pointed to the gifts on the coffee table, "to make amends and apologize, and they also mentioned compensation."

Adam Sterling was not surprised. Once Cooper Coldson knew about this, there could only be this result. "So, what did you say? Did you accept the compensation?"

Yolanda shook her head, "Ella is temporarily fine, and I don’t want their money..."

She hesitated before continuing, "I think it’s better to withdraw the lawsuit. The bad guys have already been punished, and there’s no need for me to cling to it."

"Alright, I agree," Adam Sterling stated.

"Okay." Yolanda had anticipated this outcome, "By the way, can you go to the police station to sign the withdrawal application? There’s an urgent order at the company I need to rush."

"..." Adam Sterling pinched his brow, "I have a bit of a headache, how about you go instead."

Of course, he couldn’t go, as his signature had no legal validity; he had to respect the law.

Yolanda was slightly surprised, but since Adam had already said so, she had no choice but to go herself, "Headache? What’s going on?"

"Probably haven’t rested well these past few days, maybe some medicine and a short nap will help." Adam Sterling’s eyes avoided hers, clearly feeling guilty.

"Alright, then rest well at home." Yolanda changed clothes and went to the police station herself.

She found Adam a bit odd, but had no clue what exactly was wrong.

After Yolanda left, Adam Sterling sank powerlessly onto the sofa. This was the cost of a fake marriage—he couldn’t avoid this issue forever.

What to do?

If he confessed to Yolanda, would she still want to be with him? Could she really marry him?

Adam Sterling grew increasingly agitated as he thought about it. He knew once a person becomes greedy, many things will become uncontrollable.

Suddenly, there was a knocking at the door.

Adam Sterling exhaled a heavy sigh, got up to open the door, and subconsciously said, "Back so soon..."

But the person outside wasn’t Yolanda; it was Cooper Coldson and Little Gabriel.

"I brought Gabriel to see Ella," Cooper Coldson awkwardly smiled, "Sorry for the intrusion."

"It’s fine, come in." Adam Sterling quickly adjusted his demeanor, getting ready to let them in, but at this moment, Little Gabriel suddenly rushed past him forcefully.

"Gabriel, what are you doing?" Cooper Coldson apologized with a glance at Adam, then reprimanded his son, "How can you be so rude? Quickly apologize to Uncle."

"I won’t." Little Gabriel stubbornly turned his head, "He’s a bad uncle, I don’t want to apologize to him."

"Gabriel, remember what Dad teaches you at home?" Cooper Coldson was a bit angry.

Yet Little Gabriel remained turned away, refusing to apologize, his small chest heaving with defiance.

"Gabriel, it’s okay for you to dislike Uncle," at this point, Adam Sterling stepped forward with a smile, "just don’t do this in front of Mom and your sister, okay? Otherwise, they’ll feel awkward."

Little Gabriel looked at him, "If you’re afraid they’ll feel awkward, why don’t you give them back to me and Dad?"

Adam Sterling was instantly speechless, not expecting such a young child to be so eloquent.

"Gabriel, stop being naughty," Cooper Coldson, feeling helpless, nudged him forward, "Weren’t you here to see your sister? She’s in the room; go play with her."

The little boy went inside, and the living room immediately fell silent.

"I’m really sorry." Cooper Coldson awkwardly forced a smile, "This child is too stubborn; don’t take it to heart."

"It’s nothing." Adam Sterling shook his head with an indifferent gesture.

After that day’s conversation, it seemed the two men had said all they could, leaving only silence between them.

Soon, there was another knock at the door. Adam Sterling got up and said, "It should be Yolanda back."

Cooper Coldson immediately stood up, suddenly feeling nervous.

Sure enough, Yolanda came back, carrying fresh groceries, and smiling as she chatted with Adam about everyday matters, "I signed the papers and went to the supermarket, bought a fish, and some bamboo shoots you like. Didn’t you have a headache? Tonight I’ll make you some..."

She suddenly noticed someone else in the living room, and her smile froze on her face.

"You’re back," Cooper Coldson greeted in a dry voice, "I brought Gabriel here to see Ella. Otherwise, he wouldn’t eat."

"Oh." Yolanda forced a smile.

"Yolanda, there are some dishes in the kitchen; should be enough. Let’s have Cooper and Gabriel stay for dinner," Adam Sterling casually sought Yolanda’s opinion.

"No need, no need, we’ll be leaving soon." Cooper Coldson wasn’t sure why he felt afraid.

"Stay," Yolanda didn’t look at Cooper Coldson as she continued to speak, "I’m quite good at cooking, and they both love my fish. Gabriel should try it too."

Cooper Coldson immediately clenched his hand, managing to say "Okay" after a long struggle.

Yolanda had already forgotten. She used to be the esteemed young lady of the Greenwood Family and didn’t know how to cook at all; it was after marrying Cooper Coldson that she slowly learned.

Her best dish was fish because it was Cooper Coldson’s favorite.

These memories unraveled like silken threads, slowly wrapping around Cooper Coldson’s heart, making it hard for him to breathe.

The sounds of bustling activity soon emerged from the kitchen.

"Which dish should I wash first? Cabbage?"

"Okay, start with the cabbage. I’ll see if there’s any beer at home; adding a bit when cooking fish is better..."

Cooper Coldson sat in the living room like he was on pins and needles. He knew he shouldn’t go and humiliate himself, yet he still wanted to see her in the kitchen.

He stood up and dragged himself step by step to the kitchen door. Under the warm light, the woman looked so gentle, but her every smile and every glance belonged to the man beside her.

Cooper Coldson clutched the door frame so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

"Why did you come here? We don’t need your help; Adam and I can handle it, it won’t take long. Go back and see what the two kids are doing," Yolanda quickly noticed Cooper Coldson.

Cooper Coldson couldn’t speak; he could only nod and turn away as if to escape.

He and Yolanda had been married for a year, yet he had never entered the kitchen, never cooked a single dish with Yolanda. During that year, every time he came home, there were lavish meals, but he barely ate any.

For over three hundred days, he could hardly imagine what was going through Yolanda’s mind as she prepared those dinners, knowing full well no one would eat them.

He was truly a bastard!

Cooper Coldson couldn’t bear to stay any longer. He couldn’t control his emotions and had no face to eat what Yolanda cooked.

He went to the bedroom to tell Little Gabriel he had some urgent matters and needed to leave for a while.

"Be good and eat dinner here; don’t be stubborn. Daddy will come pick you up later."

Little Gabriel nodded, seeming a bit anxious, "Daddy, come back soon."
