Chapter 423: Chapter 423: Will Mom Come Back to Us?

In the evening, Yolanda Greenwood received a call from Adam Sterling.

"Yolanda, I’ll pick up Ella from school today. You can head home directly once you’re done with work."

"Alright, I’ve got a bit of work left here. I’ll finish up and then head home." After hanging up the phone, Yolanda continued with her tasks.

Adam Sterling went to the kindergarten and waited at the entrance for a while until it was time for the kids to be dismissed.

"Daddy, why are you here?" Little Ella ran out, seeing her father had come to pick her up, she was especially happy.

Little Gabriel followed behind Little Ella, and seeing it wasn’t his mother picking him up, he seemed visibly upset.

"Mommy is still working. Daddy will take you home today." Adam Sterling picked up the little one and glanced at Little Gabriel standing there, "Gabriel, hasn’t your dad come to pick you up yet?"

Little Gabriel said nothing.

"Uncle Coldson is very busy, he always comes the last." Little Ella, hugging Adam Sterling’s neck, answered on behalf of her brother.

"Oh, I see. Should we wait for your brother together for a bit?" Adam Sterling sought Little Ella’s opinion.

"No." Little Gabriel finally spoke up, waving at Little Ella, "Goodbye, sister!"

After speaking, the little one ran back into the classroom, clearly not wanting to say much to Adam Sterling.

"Daddy, let’s go home." Little Ella observed her dad’s expression carefully, fearing he might be angry at her brother.

"Alright." Adam Sterling smiled indifferently and took the little one in a taxi back home.

On the way, Little Ella took the initiative to explain, "Daddy, my brother has autism. He didn’t purposely ignore you; please don’t be angry with him."

"Daddy knows, Daddy isn’t angry." Adam Sterling gently straightened the girl’s two ponytails, "Besides, Daddy has promised Uncle Coldson to do his best to treat your brother’s autism."

"Really? That’s great." Little Ella clapped her hands excitedly, "Daddy is awesome. My brother will definitely like Daddy in the future."

Adam Sterling tugged at the corner of his mouth but didn’t agree with the little one’s words, knowing it wasn’t easy to make Little Gabriel like him.

On the other side, Cooper Coldson noticed Little Gabriel was puffed up as soon as he got into the car, seemingly unhappy.

He patted the little one’s head, "Gabriel, what’s wrong? Haven’t you made up with your sister?"

In fact, he had called the kindergarten teacher today and knew that Little Gabriel and Little Ella had reconciled. But he didn’t know why Little Gabriel was in a bad mood now.

Sure enough, Little Gabriel shook his head, denying his dad’s guess, and said quietly, "The bad uncle took my sister away today, and I didn’t see Mommy."

It turned out to be because of this.

Cooper Coldson took a deep breath and reminded Little Gabriel, "Gabriel, you can’t call Uncle Sterling a bad uncle in the future, understand? Neither Mommy nor your sister would be happy to hear this."

Little Gabriel looked defiantly at him, "Mommy and my sister aren’t here."

"Still, it’s not allowed." Cooper Coldson’s expression darkened, "How did Daddy teach you? Be polite to people, Uncle Sterling is..."

"Will Mommy come back to us?" Little Gabriel suddenly asked excitedly.

"..." Cooper Coldson was instantly speechless, not knowing how to answer his son’s question.

Unexpectedly, Little Gabriel insisted, continuing to ask, "Daddy, have you thought of any way? How will you persuade Mommy to come back?"

"Gabriel..." Cooper Coldson called softly, but couldn’t bring himself to say the rest of the words.

How could he tell his son that Mommy wouldn’t come back, and that his sister was destined to belong to another family, that the relationship between him and Yolanda Greenwood, the mother-daughter pair, was strictly limited to this?

"Stupid Daddy, bad Daddy, I hate you, I hate you!" Little Gabriel clearly saw through Cooper Coldson’s thoughts and started crying and acting up.

"Gabriel, be good, Gabriel, be good..." Cooper Coldson could only powerlessly try to comfort the little one, yet he couldn’t make any promises to the child.

After the car stopped in the yard of the old house, Little Gabriel got out and ran upstairs, refusing to speak to anyone, locking himself in the room.

"What’s going on?" Isabella Ross looked puzzled at Cooper Coldson who came in later, "What happened to Gabriel? Why did he lock the door again?"

For a long period, Little Gabriel often locked himself in the room; he refused to communicate with anyone. However, this situation hadn’t occurred for a long time, yet today it happened again...

Cooper Coldson shook his head helplessly, "Let him be, let him stay alone for a while."

He knew that saying or doing anything right now was superfluous to Little Gabriel.

"Aunt Ross, Mr. Coldson," at that moment, another familiar voice sounded. Unexpectedly, Elsie Adams was there too, "It’s common for autistic children to have this situation, you don’t need to worry too much. Gabriel just doesn’t want to interact with the outside world, he won’t hurt himself."

"That’s good, that’s good." Isabella Ross sighed repeatedly, "It must be Yolanda or Ella who stimulated this child again."

"Mom!" Cooper Coldson didn’t want Isabella Ross to continue.

"Alright, I won’t say it anymore, I won’t say it anymore." Isabella Ross shook her head at Elsie Adams, then continued to say to Cooper Coldson, "Cooper, there’s something mom wants to discuss with you, come to the living room."

Cooper followed her into the living room.

Isabella Ross glanced at Elsie Adams, before turning to Cooper Coldson and speaking, "Cooper, you know, mom didn’t expect Elsie’s dad to be grandpa’s lifesaver."

Cooper Coldson looked over in surprise.

Isabella Ross nodded, "Really, mom met Elsie and her dad on the street a few days ago, and only then discovered this. Cooper, Elsie is a benefactor of our family."

"Is that so?" Cooper Coldson showed little emotion, and said to Elsie Adams, "Well, thank you then."

"No need, don’t thank me," Elsie Adams waved her hands repeatedly, "After all, it was my dad who saved him, it’s not related to me."

"Elsie, you can’t say that," Isabella Ross interjected again, "Cooper, Elsie lost her kindergarten job, so why not let her work at your company? Like Assistant Reyes, let her be your assistant; she will definitely do well."

Cooper Coldson frowned displeasedly, "Mom, Assistant Reyes does his job well enough..."

"Cooper, just for mom’s sake, for your grandpa," Isabella Ross interrupted Coldson’s refusal, "Just give Elsie a chance. If she doesn’t do well, you can fire her, and mom won’t have any objections."

Cooper Coldson knew Isabella Ross’s intentions, and if this had been before meeting Adam Sterling, he would have undoubtedly refused, but now... Granting Isabella Ross’s wish wouldn’t be impossible either?

"Alright, mom, I agree." Coldson quickly consented.

Elsie Adams was overjoyed; she had thought Coldson would definitely refuse. She stood up excitedly, "Mr. Coldson, no, President Coldson, thank you. I will definitely work hard and absolutely satisfy you!"

Cooper Coldson tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Report to Assistant Reyes tomorrow then!"
