Chapter 410: Chapter 410: A Family of Three Naturally Living Together
Cooper Coldson couldn’t help but call out, "Uncle?"
"Who?" Yolanda Greenwood feared she heard wrong.
Cooper quickly explained to her, "He’s my uncle, Lola’s... ex-boyfriend."
Yolanda looked over again, thinking this uncle looked rather young, not much older than Cooper by a few years.
She glanced at the stage at Lola Gold and Caleb Sullivan; clearly, Lola was very emotional, while Caleb was visibly angry.
"Who is he?" Caleb asked Lola in a hushed voice.
"No one, just someone boring." Lola hadn’t seen Christopher Coldson for nearly three years, without any news at all.
She sniffed, composed herself, walked to the side of the stage, looked down at Christopher, and said, "Why are you here? I don’t recall inviting you."
"Lola," Christopher began with a slur of alcohol on his breath, "do you really want to... marry this man? You know he doesn’t deserve you!"
"Christopher Coldson, do you know what you’re saying?" Lola frowned displeasedly, "You’re drunk, please leave."
At this moment, Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling had already gotten up and came forward.
Noah pulled on Christopher, "Uncle, today is Lola’s big wedding day, please don’t make a scene."
"Let me say one more thing," Christopher’s voice trembled with emotion, he looked longingly at Lola again, "Lola, will you marry me?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he knelt on one knee, "Lola, I know I’ve done many things in the past that hurt you, but please believe me, my love for you has never changed, don’t marry..."
"Enough!" Lola coldly interrupted Christopher’s words, "We ended long ago, now, the person I love is the person I’m marrying, please leave."
She turned her back on Christopher, unwilling to look at him again.
"Let’s go, Uncle." Noah and Adam escorted Christopher away together.
Once he was finally gone, Caleb stormed up to Lola, and in a low voice, cursed, "What are you doing? You really embarrassed me!"
Lola opened her mouth, but said nothing, as it really was her issue.
The wedding ceremony continued, but evidently, Caleb’s mood remained foul, causing continual problems, further souring Lola’s mood.
Finally, after enduring until the ceremony ended, the two returned backstage to change outfits and couldn’t hold back a big argument.
"Lola Gold, what are you thinking? Today is our wedding day, why did you have to invite someone to cause trouble? What do you want my parents and family to think?"
Lola took a deep breath, "This is my fault, but I said it repeatedly, I didn’t invite him, and I didn’t know he would come."
"Wasn’t you? Then who was it?" Caleb sneered with self-mockery, "Then it must be your dear friend?"
"Caleb Sullivan, will you stop it, Yolanda has amnesia, she knows nothing, how could she have invited him?" Lola was exasperated.
Caleb snorted, "Anyway, you and your dear friend have something against me..."
Just then, there was a knock at the door outside.
"Lola? Caleb? Are you in there?" It was Yolanda’s voice.
Lola warned Caleb, "I’m telling you, don’t push me to get married in the morning and divorced by the afternoon, control your mouth, your temper."
She took a deep breath, put on a smile, and then opened the door. As expected, it was Yolanda.
"Why are you here? Where’s Ella?"
Yolanda glanced at their expressions, "Ella went to find her dad. I saw that you hadn’t come out for a while and came to check on you."
She whispered to Lola, "Is everything okay?"
"It’s fine." Lola stealthily kicked Caleb.
Caleb immediately smiled, "It’s fine, how can there be an issue, we’ll change and come out soon."
"Alright then, I’ll head to the front, hurry, everyone is waiting for you." Yolanda lightly pinched Lola’s hand before turning to leave.
She returned to her seat, apologizing with a smile to everyone.
"How is it? Did they not fight?" Adam Sterling asked, offering her a meatball with concern.
"It’s fine." Yolanda managed a slight smile, seeing Noah and Cooper not moving, she urged, "Eat quickly, or the food will get cold."
Throughout the meal, the atmosphere was evidently tense.
Cooper occasionally glanced at Adam and Yolanda, while Adam remained unaffected, seemingly unaware of Cooper’s gaze.
After eating for a while, Lola and Caleb joined them to offer a toast.
Lola toasted Yolanda, "Yolanda, thank you, this jewelry set is beautiful, and you’ve been so busy these days, thank you, Ella, and Ana too."
The two little ones happily raised their drinks and sipped sweetly.
Beside them, Caleb suddenly raised his glass towards Cooper, "Mr. Coldson, I’m glad you could come today, since we’re all friends, let’s stay in touch, your son is so cute, I toast to you!"
"You’re too kind!" Cooper stood up and actually toasted with Caleb.
Caleb beamed, feeling much better.
The two continued to toast other tables, and Lola couldn’t help but remind Caleb, "I’m telling you, Cooper is Yolanda’s friend, not close with me, don’t take advantage next time."
"Yolanda’s friend?" Caleb was indifferent, "Even if he’s Yolanda’s friend, given how close you and Yolanda are, he counts as your friend too."
"..." Lola was speechless.
Caleb spoke again, "Lola, don’t always act like we’re poor. You have such influential friends, yet you keep your distance, if you aren’t poor, who is?"
He clicked his tongue twice, "You really should learn from Yolanda, see how well she gets along with Cooper even after her amnesia, no wonder she’s successful, able to open a company, you’re still too naive."
"Caleb Sullivan!" Lola felt her anger rise, but at the wedding, she couldn’t lash out and could only temporarily hold it in.
As the banquet ended, Noah suggested going back to the old house with Cooper, who quietly asked, "What about your friend? Isn’t he coming too?"
"Friend?" Noah was taken aback.
"The Dr. Sterling," Cooper glanced over at the nearby family of three, "Isn’t Dr. Sterling going to the old house with you? Where... is he staying?"
Noah chuckled, "They’re reuniting as a family, naturally Adam is with his wife and child."
Cooper’s face changed slightly and he remained still.
"Let’s go, time to head back." Noah tugged at him, but to no avail, he helplessly said, "They’re a couple, living together is only natural, right?"
Cooper couldn’t stand it anymore, "Why?"
He truly didn’t understand, "Why did Adam become Yolanda’s husband? I always thought... it would be you, brother!"
