Chapter 41: Chapter 41 She Doesn’t Need Cooper Coldson’s Pity
"Yes!"
Cooper Coldson’s reply had barely a hint of hesitation.
Yolanda Greenwood just felt her chest tighten painfully, the ache bringing tears surging forth again.
She asked him with a bitter smile, "Do you love her that much? So much that you can’t distinguish right from wrong, that black is white to you?"
"All she did was out of fear of losing me."
Cooper’s voice was calm, but the words he spoke were exceptionally cruel.
When he thought Yolanda was a scheming woman, he loathed and despised her; yet when the schemer turned out to be Melissa Greenwood, he spoke of it so lightly.
It turned out that Young Master Coldson, high and mighty as he was, could also be so hypocritical.
Yolanda looked at him, every word stuck in her throat, unable to utter even half a word.
"Don’t worry, if it truly was her mistake, I will make amends to you with her."
Another knife slashed ruthlessly into Yolanda’s heart.
"Cooper," Yolanda tightened her fists, struggling to control her emotions, "from college till now, have you really never felt anything for me at all?"
If he had, how could he be so cruel.
"Never." Cooper took long strides, preparing to leave.
Yolanda felt all her strength drain away in an instant, her body swaying unsteadily.
She admitted defeat.
No, she had already lost, utterly and completely.
She called out to Cooper’s retreating back with the last of her energy, "I agree to the divorce."
Cooper turned his head to see Yolanda’s struggle as she picked up the pen and carefully wrote her name on the "Divorce Agreement."
He frowned briefly.
"You don’t need to sign."
"Once the truth comes out, I will draft a new ’Divorce Agreement.’"
Yolanda really wanted to say there was no need, she didn’t want to be tormented by this matter over and over again, she just wanted to end it quickly.
But Cooper had already disappeared.
Suddenly, she felt her stomach churning uncontrollably and quickly ran to the bathroom.
"Madam? Are you alright?"
Jasmine King held a cup of water, anxiously waiting beside her.
Yolanda emptied the contents of her stomach completely.
She shook her head, took the water cup, and rinsed her mouth.
It must be acute anemia.
This time when she slit her wrists, she really lost a lot of blood. She even suspected that Melissa Greenwood and Eliana Reed intended to kill her.
"Madam, you should stay here tonight; I’ll go and prepare a room for you."
Jasmine King actually was very satisfied with her job; neither Cooper Coldson nor Yolanda Greenwood were demanding.
But if the two divorced, would she lose her job?
"No need, I won’t be staying here."
How could she possibly have the cheek to stay, with Cooper leaving because of her presence?
"In a while, call the master and tell him I have already left and he can come back."
Yolanda left quickly.
Jasmine King made the call to Cooper, "Master, the madam asked me to call you, she’s left, you can come back now."
"She left?"
An image of an exceptionally pale face flashed before Cooper’s eyes.
He had thought that upon leaving, Yolanda would stay the night.
"Yes, the madam seemed quite unwell, going out into the pitch-dark night, quite pitiable, not even sure if she could get a cab."
Jasmine King said these things deliberately, and heard the other end hang up quickly.
In Gray City’s upper circles, there was an accepted saying: "Wealth in the east, nobility in the west."
To the east of the city were the wealthy, holding the city’s economic lifeline in their hands.
To the west were gathered the city’s, even the country’s power holders, a place the easterners strived desperately to enter.
The Coldson Family’s villa enclave, in West City District, was the only hillside villa area, tranquil and refined, not too far from the main city core, but still highly inconvenient without a car.
Yolanda Greenwood dragged herself, dazed, and walked out.
She had to get down the hill and out of the community to possibly hail a cab.
In a daze, she heard the sound of a car horn.
She looked to the side and, to her surprise, it was Cooper Coldson’s car.
As the window slowly lowered, that enchantingly handsome profile came into view.
"Get in!"
Yolanda Greenwood furrowed her brows, "No need."
She continued to drag her feet forward.
Without love, she didn’t need Cooper Coldson’s pity.
Unexpectedly, the car followed her, Cooper Coldson’s voice carrying a hint of impatience.
"Get in!"
"I said no need!"
Yolanda stopped and, facing the man in the car, she yelled.
"If I get in the car, will you love me? Will you not divorce me?"
"Of course not! So you don’t need to worry about me, I don’t need your pity!"
Her spit flew along with her tears, shocking Cooper into a stunned silence.
Cooper watched as Yolanda left in a huff, never realizing until now how stubborn and strong-willed she was.
"President?" Richard Reyes cautiously spoke up, "Shall we keep following?"
"Didn’t you hear her say she doesn’t need my pity?"
"Oh." Richard shrank his neck, trying to breathe as little as possible to reduce his presence.
Yolanda walked and cried at the same time, Cooper’s current pity just made her feel even more pitiful.
The sound of the car horn came from behind her again.
"Are you deaf?"
Yolanda turned and snapped but saw Assistant Reyes sticking his neck out from the driver’s seat.
"Miss Greenwood, please get in."
Richard was on the verge of tears, "Our president isn’t here."
The president was always the president, with an understanding beyond ordinary people.
The president said Miss Greenwood didn’t need his pity, but the assistant’s pity was allowed.
The president also said if Miss Greenwood didn’t get in, then Richard had to keep following her.
Yolanda continued to walk forward.
Richard drove behind her, pleading.
"Miss Greenwood, please get in, I’ll take you back."
"Miss Greenwood, it’s getting late, it’s not easy to call a taxi here, just get in."
"Miss Greenwood, just take pity on me and get in the car."
Ten minutes later, Yolanda sat in Cooper Coldson’s car.
Richard was grateful as he delivered her to Lola Gold’s place.
After climbing the stairs, Yolanda knocked for a long time before finally confirming that Lola wasn’t home.
She then called Lola, but no one answered.
So she sent a WeChat message, [Lola, are you not at home?]
Such a situation was rare, as Lola Gold was a homebody who seldom went out, especially not at this time.
Just as Yolanda was puzzled, Lola replied to her message.
[Yolanda, I’ve got something outside, can’t answer the phone, don’t you have the keys? Let yourself in.]
Yolanda had no choice but to let herself into the house.
She was both tired and sleepy at the moment, had thrown up everything in her stomach, and had no desire to eat anything.
She washed up quickly and went to bed early.
She slept through until the morning and didn’t even know what time Lola had returned.
She hurriedly got up to wash and get ready; today, she had to make a trip to Baruy.
"Lola," Yolanda busied herself while chatting with Lola, "where were you last night? When did you come back?"
Lola hesitated before replying, "It was pretty late, I didn’t notice the time."
Yolanda felt even more curious, she brushed her teeth as she walked over to Lola and suddenly her eyes widened in surprise.
"Lola, you..."
