Chapter 371: Chapter 371: Why Deserve Cooper Coldson’s Affection
The next day, Yolanda was busy all morning, and when it was noon, she happened to be near the kindergarten, so she picked up Little Ella for lunch.
The little one loves fried chicken and had been asking for it for several days—today she finally got to have it.
"Why didn’t you invite brother to join us?" Little Ella said, her mouth full, yet not forgetting to express her thought.
Yolanda looked up from her notebook, glanced helplessly at the little one, "Slow down, didn’t Teacher Adams say you can’t bring other kids out without parental consent?"
Little Ella insisted, "Gabriel’s dad will definitely agree. I’ll talk to him."
The image of that man appeared in Yolanda’s mind as she curiously looked at her daughter, "You’ve met him?"
"No." Little Ella shook her head, mysteriously beckoning Yolanda over, "Mom, come pick me up later today."
"What do you want to do?" Yolanda asked, indulgingly.
"I’ll wait with brother for his dad, and when he comes, I’ll ask if we can take brother out." Little Ella’s face showed an expectant expression.
Yolanda shook her head helplessly, "But we don’t know when Gabriel’s dad is picking him up; if it’s too late, it won’t work."
"What should we do then?" The little one looked troubled, "I want to have dinner with brother and mom."
Yolanda reached out to ruffle Little Ella’s hair, casually asking, "Are you sure it’s brother?"
"Yes." Little Ella nodded vigorously, her bright eyes twinkling, "And mom, did you know? Brother and I share the same birthday, the exact same day!"
"Really?" Yolanda was slightly surprised; she hadn’t expected her own daughter and the child named Gabriel to have such a connection.
"Yes, I won’t lie to mom, and brother wouldn’t lie to me." Little Ella finished eating and, seeing a piece of paper nearby, picked it up and asked, "Mom, can I have this?"
Yolanda took a glance—it was an invitation to a jewelry exhibition, already used, "Sure, what do you want to do with it?"
"I’m going to fold a Baby Bunny for brother." The little one immediately got to work, "Mom, take your time eating, no rush."
Yolanda smiled warmly, "Here’s what we’ll do: I remember there’s a café across from the kindergarten. I’ll wait there this evening. If Gabriel’s dad doesn’t come for him, we’ll head home, alright?"
"Alright. Mom, you’re so smart, that’s a great idea." Little Ella never hesitates to flatter Yolanda.
Yolanda continued to work while eating.
The kindergarten was bustling at that time. Cooper had finally managed to carve out some time today; he had long wanted to meet the little girl who had made her way into Gabriel’s heart, especially since her name was also Ella, which made him feel an unexpected closeness.
In the afternoon, he and Richard brought some fruit and cake to the kindergarten, only to find the girl named Ella wasn’t there.
"When will she come back?" Cooper noticed his son had taken his favorite banana and a piece of strawberry cake, clearly saving them for Little Ella.
Elsie had an idea, "Ella took the afternoon off, she’ll be back tomorrow."
"Oh." A trace of disappointment flashed in Cooper’s heart, he went to say a few words to Gabriel, "Gabriel, Ella’s not coming back this afternoon, you can eat them yourself."
Little Gabriel protectively guarded the strawberry cake and banana, not letting anyone touch them, including his silly dad, because he knew sister would come back, she just went out for lunch with mom, and he wished he could go, too.
"Good boy, Daddy is going to work now, I’ll come to pick you up in the evening." Cooper lightly kissed his son’s forehead, then got up and walked out.
Elsie’s heart felt a burst of warmth; how many men would kiss their son in public? In any case, Cooper was the first she’d ever seen.
This man constantly exudes a deadly allure, drawing her deeper into a pit she knows she can’t escape.
She followed Cooper out of the kindergarten, catching up with him in a few steps, saying, "Gabriel seems to regard Ella as his missing sister."
Cooper stopped and nodded; when he spoke, his voice was somewhat bitter, "It seems so."
"Mr. Coldson, may I ask something a bit presumptuous," Elsie probed, "Do you remember what Gabriel’s sister looks like? If you meet her again, could you recognize her?"
Cooper was momentarily dazed; Little Ella had been with Yolanda since birth, and he had only seen her once. Although Little Ella and Little Gabriel were fraternal twins, they didn’t look alike; if he saw her again, could he recognize Ella?
"It’s normal for Mr. Coldson not to recognize her. As the elders say, during the first year after birth, kids change almost daily, let alone you being separated for three years." Elsie said considerately.
Cooper slowly began to speak, "I believe I should be able to recognize her."
She is his and Yolanda’s child; there must be traces of them in her, he couldn’t possibly fail to recognize her.
Elsie awkwardly smiled and probed further, "By the way, may I ask one more question, Mr. Coldson, what is your ex-wife’s name?"
Cooper looked over in puzzlement.
"Please don’t misunderstand, Mr. Coldson, if it’s inconvenient to tell, that’s okay," Elsie lowered her head, "I’m just curious and think the woman is very lucky to be thought of by you so profoundly."
"Yolanda!" Cooper looked earnestly at Elsie, "Teacher Adams, I need to clarify something: the lucky person is never Yolanda—it’s me, Cooper Coldson. Without Yolanda, there wouldn’t be Gabriel, nor would there be the person I am now."
He nodded slightly, "Goodbye, Teacher Adams!"
Elsie stood in place, her heart racing, her hands clenched into tight fists—it’s really Yolanda! Yolanda and Ella Greenwood are indeed Cooper Coldson’s lost family.
But clearly, Yolanda has forgotten Cooper, and even remarried. Such a woman, what gives her the right to receive Cooper’s deep affection?
She felt Cooper was being cheated!
Richard had followed behind Cooper all along, hearing everything Cooper said.
Throughout this journey, he had been one of the witnesses to their relationship, also a witness to Cooper’s transformation.
Cooper was truthful; without Yolanda, there wouldn’t be this version of Cooper Coldson.
In three years, Cooper truly completed the metamorphosis of a man, emerging from his cocoon. He was no longer the indisputable Patriarch of the Coldson Family, or the unrivaled business mogul... Richard thought Cooper now resembled more an unattainable sun, truly in the limelight yet forever unreachable.
On the other side, Yolanda typed the last word, closed the laptop.
Little Ella had also finished her Baby Bunny, carefully putting it into her pocket, and picking up the packed egg tart for brother, "Ready to leave."
"Alright." Yolanda packed up and took the little one to return home.
She dropped Little Ella off at the door, watched as the little one bounced inside, then turned and left.
Elsie stood in the classroom, watching Yolanda from afar, a flicker of fiery envy visible in her eyes.
