Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Clearly, Eliana Reed Came Prepared
A week flew by, and Yolanda Greenwood and Sophie Taylor submitted four draft designs together.
"Yolanda, this time you’ll definitely become our company’s chief designer."
After returning, everyone rushed to congratulate Yolanda ahead of time.
"Don’t say that, everyone else’s designs were also beautiful, just different styles."
Yolanda blushed with modesty from the praise.
"Now the pressure is on the garment manufacturing team, wondering if they can reproduce the designs accurately."
"Don’t worry, with half a month left, you can also check their progress at any time. There won’t be any problems."
"Right, why don’t we go celebrate tonight?"
All three looked towards Yolanda.
"Sure, my treat."
Yolanda agreed without hesitation, already looking for an opportunity to thank everyone.
Sophie Taylor then suggested contacting Jenny Reyes.
Yolanda immediately called Jenny Reyes, "Sister Reyes, are you free to talk?"
"Speak." Jenny’s usual brevity came through the phone.
"Tonight, the four of us want to get together. Do you have time to join us, Sister Reyes?"
Jenny chuckled lightly, "Seems like you all are well-prepared for the big show."
"Ah? Sister Reyes, how do you know about the big show?"
"I might have resigned, but I’m not dead."
Jenny’s tone was resigned, "Fine, send me the time and address. I’ll come if I can."
"Great." Yolanda couldn’t help but add, "Sister Reyes, you must come, we all miss you."
After work, the four took a taxi to the hot pot restaurant.
They ordered alcohol, meat, a variety of vegetables, and meatballs.
While waiting for the dishes to arrive, Yolanda called Jenny again to confirm her arrival, and everyone was delighted.
About half an hour later, Yolanda went out to receive Jenny.
"Sister Reyes, this way!" She saw Jenny from a distance and jumped up, waving frantically.
Jenny smiled and walked over.
"Sister Reyes, I’m so glad you could make it!"
Joy shone in Yolanda’s eyes.
Jenny curled her lips slightly, "If I didn’t come, you’d keep calling me, which would be annoying."
"Heh heh!"
By now, Yolanda had pretty much figured out Jenny’s personality, a classic example of having a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
"I heard Melissa Greenwood took over managing you guys?"
"Yeah, acting team leader."
They chatted as they walked inside.
"This big show is a rare opportunity. Baruy’s top brass may love money, but they know the importance of talent too."
Yolanda nodded vigorously, "Rest assured, Sister Reyes, we will give it our all."
As they entered the private room, everyone greeted them warmly, bombarding Jenny with questions.
To their surprise, Jenny had now joined Sunny Skies and was effectively the ’big boss.’ Furthermore, she would represent Sunny Skies at Baruy’s big show.
The group exchanged glances, realizing their luck had turned.
Jenny cleared her throat, "Don’t get any wrong ideas. I won’t pull strings for you, make it on your own merits."
"Sister Reyes! Are you being heartless?" Sophie Taylor faked tears for sympathy, "Give us a chance, to continue being your loyal lackey."
Laughter filled the room.
Everyone enjoyed the meal immensely, and when Yolanda went to pay the bill, she found out that Jenny had already taken care of it.
After seeing the others off, Yolanda tried to transfer money to Jenny.
"I said I would treat, I invited you for this reason, how can I let you pay?"
"I’m not giving you any advantages anymore. If I don’t even take this, how can I live up to you calling me Sister Reyes?"
"Sister Reyes!" Yolanda truly felt apologetic.
"Then after the big show, you must let me treat you in return."
"Deal, it’s a promise!"
They hailed cabs by the roadside, and Jenny insisted Yolanda go first.
Just as Yolanda was about to get into the car, she heard someone calling her name.
"Yolanda! Yolanda!"
Yolanda looked over and, to her surprise, saw Eliana Reed.
Jenny glanced at Yolanda, "Do you know her?"
"My mom." Yolanda managed a strained smile.
Knowing she couldn’t leave yet, she said, "Go ahead, Sister Reyes."
Jenny hesitated, "Let me say hi at least."
"No need, it’s okay, Sister Reyes, please go, the driver is in a hurry."
Yolanda pushed her into the taxi and waited for it to leave before approaching Eliana.
She didn’t expect to run into her here, "Why have you come?"
Eliana’s eyes flickered, "Your mother misses you, can’t I come see you?"
Yolanda found it strange, "How did you know I was here?"
Eliana was caught off guard and without another word, grabbed Yolanda, "Come with me."
"Where?"
"Home." Eliana’s tone was urgent.
Yolanda broke free and held her ground, "I’m not going back. If you have something to say, say it here. If there’s nothing, I’m going back to my hotel."
"You moved out of the Coldson Family’s place?" Eliana was surprised.
"What’s going on?" Yolanda was losing patience.
"Can’t I call you home for no reason? Would you rather stay in a hotel than come home?"
Eliana tried to pull Yolanda again, "Come back with me."
"What for?"
This was too strange. Yolanda looked at Eliana in confusion, "What are you up to?"
"What could I be up to?"
At that moment, they stood by the road behind the hot pot restaurant, not the main road and not many people around.
Eliana glanced at a distance and waved.
Yolanda turned to look and saw two tall men running towards them.
A sense of foreboding surged in her heart; she stepped back, ready to run.
But at that moment, Eliana grabbed her arm.
"Mom, what are you doing?"
Yolanda panicked, struggling fiercely, but Eliana held her tight.
"What exactly are you doing?"
Fear engulfed her; clearly Eliana had come prepared.
"What am I doing? Taking you home!"
The two men were now up close.
Eliana nodded at them.
One man helped hold Yolanda while the other covered her mouth and nose with a cloth.
"Help... Mmm..."
Yolanda couldn’t even scream before she passed out.
As some passersby looked on, Eliana immediately started weeping, "The poor child, abandoned by a scumbag, drank too much. Quick, help me get her in the car."
So the three of them stuffed Yolanda into a car.
Eliana drove while the two men restrained Yolanda in the back seat, heading towards the Greenwood Family’s home.
Meanwhile, Cooper Coldson had finally completed another big international finance deal.
Looking forward to some rest tomorrow, dealing with personal matters, he sent a WeChat message to Yolanda.
[Tomorrow at 9 AM, I’ll pick you up from the hotel lobby.]
After waiting for nearly half an hour with no reply from Yolanda, Cooper called her.
No one answered.
He called several times to no avail.
Fuming, he resolved to wait for her directly outside the hotel in the morning.
