Chapter 346: Do You Have Any More Secrets?

Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Do You Have Any More Secrets?

After much effort, Melissa Greenwood felt even worse after finishing the meal.

"Big brother, where are we staying tonight?" She asked anxiously.

"Oh, I’ll take you to have a look." The man stood up and said.

This big brick house had three bedrooms in total. They ate their meal in the westernmost room, and the man led Melissa Greenwood and Yolanda Greenwood to the easternmost room. "You’ll be staying here tonight."

"Me, stay with her?" Melissa Greenwood asked unwillingly.

The man nodded, "Yes, this room is large enough, the two of you will have plenty of space to share."

"No way." Melissa Greenwood rejected instantly. "I want a separate room for me and the child, she can stay in the other one, even if it’s smaller."

"Melissa Greenwood, we’re just borrowing a place to stay, don’t be problematic," Yolanda Greenwood apologized to the man with a smile. "It’s okay, we’ll stay here."

"No way!" Melissa Greenwood grew emotional. She absolutely couldn’t sleep in the same room as Yolanda Greenwood.

"What’s gotten into you?" Yolanda Greenwood dragged her aside. "They’re kind enough to take us in; don’t act all spoiled."

"Save it! You think I don’t know what you’re plotting?" Melissa Greenwood’s emotions intensified dramatically, "You’re planning to steal Little Gabriel while I’m asleep, aren’t you?"

She glared venomously at Yolanda Greenwood. "I’m telling you, over my dead body!"

She turned to the man, "Big brother, I’ll give you an extra thousand, two thousand total—please arrange two separate rooms for us."

She apologized with a smile. "We’ve been driving for a whole day, really worn out. Besides, my kid is particularly noisy at night, and I’m worried it’ll disturb my friend’s rest, especially since she’s driving again tomorrow."

The man glanced at Little Gabriel in confusion. "This child? Is he really noisy?"

Since the moment they arrived, Little Gabriel hadn’t made a sound.

"Really, don’t be fooled by how quiet he is right now; he cries non-stop at night." Melissa Greenwood explained awkwardly.

"Alright then." The man finally relented and pointed to the middle room, addressing Yolanda Greenwood, "You can stay there."

Yolanda Greenwood nodded and repeatedly thanked the man.

The man soon left.

"Grab the bag and bring it into the room." Melissa Greenwood promptly commanded.

Yolanda Greenwood picked up the bag and walked into the room alongside her, then shut the door behind them. "No way, I have to stay with you all."

"Yolanda Greenwood, what’s wrong with you?" Melissa Greenwood gritted her teeth. "Am I being too nice to you? Don’t push your luck!"

Yolanda Greenwood noticed Melissa Greenwood seemed to be trembling slightly.

After a moment’s thought, Melissa Greenwood added, "Who knows what shady plans you might have—maybe you’ll hurt Little Gabriel in the middle of the night and then try to escape. No, I have to keep an eye on you."

"I said no!" Melissa Greenwood pulled out a fruit knife, threateningly brandishing it as if to harm Little Gabriel.

"Fine." Yolanda Greenwood softened her tone. "If you give me the fruit knife and let me confirm you don’t have any other weapons, then I’ll believe you."

Melissa Greenwood squinted and didn’t respond immediately.

"If you don’t agree, I’m not leaving." Yolanda Greenwood turned and sat firmly on the heated brick bed.

"Fine." Melissa Greenwood couldn’t bear the discomfort anymore. If they argued further, Yolanda might catch on to her abnormal state. She threw the fruit knife to Yolanda Greenwood. "Take it."

"And the bag," Yolanda Greenwood deliberately added. "I need to take it with me."

"No way!" Melissa Greenwood rejected instantly. "Yolanda Greenwood, enough is enough! If you push me further, I swear I’ll strangle this cursed child right now!"

Yolanda Greenwood grew even more certain there was something inside the bag.

"How about this," Yolanda Greenwood suggested, "I won’t take it, but let me open it and check—just to confirm there aren’t any dangerous items inside. Then I’ll leave it alone."

"You can’t open it!" Melissa Greenwood refused without hesitation.

She’d clearly lost a bit of her ability to think properly, her gaze toward Yolanda Greenwood now looking somewhat vacant.

"What’s in there?" Yolanda Greenwood exaggeratedly questioned. "Melissa Greenwood, what are you hiding? Do you have some kind of secret?"

Melissa Greenwood nearly lost her temper. "Yolanda Greenwood, if you keep jabbering, I won’t stand for it! Get out!"

"Alright then, I won’t open it. Let me just feel it—then I’ll confirm there’s nothing dangerous like a knife inside, and I’ll leave immediately." Yolanda Greenwood made one last suggestion.

"Fine, fine, hurry up." Melissa Greenwood couldn’t endure it any longer.

Yolanda Greenwood knelt down and carefully felt around the bag’s contents, methodically distinguishing the shape of each non-clothing item inside.

"Are you done yet?" Melissa Greenwood repeatedly urged.

"Yes, I’m done." Yolanda Greenwood stood up. "Alright, I’m leaving now. Let me remind you: don’t try to harm Little Gabriel. If you do, the Coldson Family will hunt you to the ends of the earth."

Melissa Greenwood snorted and shoved her out the door. "Go, go, hurry up and leave."

Once outside, Yolanda Greenwood immediately found something to block Melissa’s door, then quietly slipped into the room where they had eaten earlier.

As expected, Noah Coldson and Cooper Coldson were already there.

"How is it? Has she suspected anything?" Noah Coldson asked immediately.

Yolanda Greenwood shook her head. "Not sure, but she’s very cautious. Right now, she’s in the room with Little Gabriel. I’ve already taken away the fruit knife."

The man nearby told them, "Don’t worry. That room doesn’t have any knives, scissors, or anything like that—I cleaned it out thoroughly."

"Thank you, big brother." Noah Coldson nodded toward the man. "You did great."

The man tugged at the corners of his mouth, but his gaze kept drifting to Cooper Coldson. His instincts told him that Cooper Coldson was the wealthy man who had promised five million.

Cooper Coldson noticed the man’s gaze and stepped forward to reassure him, "Don’t worry, as soon as we rescue the child, I’ll have the money sent to your account tomorrow."

"Thanks! Best of luck to you!" The man couldn’t help but feel excited.

Five million—he would never earn five million in his lifetime. This was it; he was about to soar to new heights.

At this moment, Yolanda Greenwood remembered something and turned to Noah Coldson. "There’s one more thing I think you should know now."

"What is it?" Noah Coldson looked over curiously.

Yolanda Greenwood walked up to him, grabbed his arm, and pulled him aside. She leaned in close and whispered something in his ear.

"Really? Are you sure?" Noah Coldson’s eyes widened in surprise.

Yolanda Greenwood nodded. "It should be true. And there’s one more thing..."

She leaned in again, whispering more. Noah Coldson’s expression grew increasingly incredulous, then he finally chuckled and said, "Well, karma really does work in mysterious ways."

"Big brother, we have to hurry. She might notice something’s off soon." Yolanda Greenwood reminded.

Noah Coldson nodded, "Alright, let’s go now. You knock on the door."

"Got it."

Yolanda Greenwood took a deep breath, leading the way forward with Noah Coldson and Cooper Coldson silently trailing behind her.

When they reached Melissa Greenwood’s door, Yolanda Greenwood knocked. "Melissa Greenwood, open the door."
