Chapter 330: Chapter 330 The Second, More Terrifying Melissa Greenwood
Noah grabbed Little May tightly in his arms. "Uncle is sorry, so sorry."
"I won’t tell Uncle it’s okay." The little one’s stubborn voice rang out. "Uncle is an adult; he should know what is right and what is wrong..."
Noah released Little May, staring at her in disbelief.
"If Uncle did something wrong, then Uncle should be punished," Little May sniffled, her big, wide eyes fixed steadily on Noah.
He looked at her—the child before him was only two or three years old, her speech still slurring at times. And yet... she was braver, smarter than Noah at six years old.
His voice trembled as he asked, "What if it were a six-year-old child? If Uncle made a mistake at six years old..."
"What would a six-year-old know?" Little May replied like a little adult. "I could forgive a six-year-old Uncle, but I wouldn’t forgive the Uncle you are now."
The struggle in Noah’s eyes gradually disappeared, his gaze growing more determined.
Little May was right. If he sent her away now, and Yolanda Greenwood found out later, he’d be beyond redemption.
He couldn’t continue making mistakes. He couldn’t send Little May away.
With that thought, he swept her up in his arms and turned to head in the other direction.
"Noah Uncle, where are we going? Aren’t we boarding?" Little May blinked her big eyes, asking curiously.
"We’re going back, to find Aunt Yolanda." Noah had decided—he was truly done. Rather than be continuously threatened by Melissa Greenwood, it was better he confessed the truth himself.
Even if Yolanda wouldn’t forgive him, it was a punishment he deserved.
Hearing this, Little May leaned in and kissed his cheek forcefully. "Noah Uncle, you’re the best!"
Noah shook his head. "May, you’re the best. Uncle isn’t as good as you, not as good as you."
"Then we’re both great!" Little May was clearly elated. "When I see Aunt Yolanda, I have a gift for her."
"What gift?" Noah asked, curious yet uneasy. Could this child have already guessed they’d go to Yolanda? Had she prepared a gift ahead of time?
The thought sent chills down his spine.
He recalled something—Yolanda once told him that Little May’s father, Brooks Parker, was a genius. Could it be that this child was a prodigy?
Exiting the airport, Noah felt an unprecedented urgency. What should’ve been a forty-minute drive took him less than thirty—he arrived at the Greenwood residence.
"I’ll knock." Little May signaled Noah to hide to one side as she forcefully knocked on the door herself.
Yolanda Greenwood opened the door. The moment she opened it and didn’t see anyone, she was about to close it again when she heard a voice from below.
"Aunt Yolanda!"
Yolanda looked down and was instantly overjoyed. "May? Why are you here?"
Just then, Noah stepped out from the side.
"Brother? You brought May back?" Yolanda picked May up and invited Noah inside. "I missed May so much. What’s going on? How come you’re both together?"
Noah hesitated, unsure of how to begin.
"It’s the bad mom!" Little May pouted, complaining. "Bad mom wanted to secretly send May to the U.S. to sell her off."
"Bad mom?" Yolanda looked at Noah. "Melissa Greenwood?"
Noah nodded, then awkwardly tried to explain, "But it wasn’t to sell her—she just... found a family to adopt her."
"Why?" Yolanda was puzzled. "Are you saying Melissa contacted you and asked you to send May to the U.S. Why?"
Noah lowered his head, avoiding Yolanda’s gaze. "Yolanda, I’m sorry. There are some things... I think I need to tell you."
After speaking, he quickly glanced at her, and sure enough, Yolanda’s expression shifted slightly. "Truly, I’m sorry."
"Aunt Yolanda, listen to me first, okay?" Little May clung to Yolanda’s neck. "Let’s defeat bad mom together."
Yolanda snapped out of her thoughts and glanced at Noah. "Whatever it is, we’ll talk about it privately later."
For some reason, she felt a strong resistance in her heart—she didn’t want to hear what Noah had to say, not at all.
Forcing herself to ignore the sinking feeling in her chest, she smiled at the child in her arms. "Bad mom? Why does May call her mom bad?"
She carried Little May into the living room, setting her down on the sofa.
Little May hopped to the ground, her big eyes reddened. "It’s because bad mom killed Dad."
"What?" Yolanda stared at her in disbelief. "What did you say?"
"May saw it herself. That day, May didn’t go out to play—May hid in her room. That day, bad mom went to see Dad." It was obvious this matter had been pent up in Little May’s heart for a long time. Once she said it, she immediately burst into tears.
"Dad died. When Dad was dying, he told bad mom not to hurt Aunt Yolanda, told bad mom to raise May well. Boohoo... Dad died because of bad mom. May wants to avenge Dad."
Yolanda was utterly stunned. She hadn’t expected this—the fact that Little May had known all along that Melissa Greenwood killed Brooks Parker, and had deliberately stayed beside Melissa for revenge?
She quickly pulled Little May into her arms. "May, don’t cry, don’t cry. It’s okay now. It’s okay."
She didn’t know how to comfort Little May. She remembered Adam Sterling once said something seemed off about Little May. She immediately told Noah to go call Adam over.
"Okay, I’ll make the call now." Noah hurried away to contact Adam.
Yolanda soothed Little May. "May, tell Aunt what else you know."
"Bad mom is like Dad—they’re sick. They have to take medicine," Little May replied promptly.
"Sick? Medicine?" Yolanda couldn’t quite grasp it. "What kind of sickness? What kind of medicine?"
"It’s that white powder." Little May sniffed again. "Now bad mom takes medicine every day, or else she’ll get sick."
"You mean Melissa Greenwood..." Yolanda looked incredulously at Noah, who had just returned. She had pieced it together—Melissa had gotten into the same trouble as Brooks Parker, hooked on that demon.
Noah was equally shocked. "She’s asking for death—she saw what happened to Brooks. How could she be so stupid?"
At that moment, Little May suddenly leaned into Yolanda’s ear and whispered something.
Yolanda’s eyes widened. "Is this... true?"
Little May nodded fiercely and said with bite, "I want to avenge Dad. I want bad mom to die."
Yolanda quickly covered her mouth. "Sweetheart, don’t say such things. Your mom really should face justice, but not by our hands. Do you understand?"
"Why not?" Little May’s eyes were red with rage. "If Noah Uncle hadn’t tried to send me away, I would’ve killed her myself."
"Don’t speak nonsense!" Yolanda suddenly felt fear—fear that Little May might become a second Melissa Greenwood. And she was almost certain that the second one would be even more terrifying.
