Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé
Chapter 329: Mommy Doesn’t Want Me Anymore, Is That So?

Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Mommy Doesn’t Want Me Anymore, Is That So?

"Send her to country M?" Noah Coldson was utterly perplexed, "What are you trying to do? That’s your biological daughter."

Melissa Greenwood smiled faintly, "Precisely because she’s my biological daughter, I’m saying she should go to country M. Someone will adopt her there. It’s better than..."

She looked at Noah, tugging the corner of her mouth. "Better than her meeting with some accident back home, wouldn’t you say?"

"Don’t you trust Aunt Yolanda?" Noah couldn’t quite understand, "This way, you can visit her often too. Doesn’t that sound nice?"

"Do you think I’m stupid?" Melissa flared up, "If Yolanda Greenwood takes May back, do you think she’ll keep the secret for me? If she tells Cooper that May is my child, do you honestly believe Cooper would still marry me?"

She pointed at Noah, lowering her voice into a threatening tone, "If Cooper doesn’t marry me, you won’t get your chance with Yolanda Greenwood either."

Noah shook his head helplessly, "You’re overthinking it. Yolanda wouldn’t do such a thing."

"Ha ha..." Melissa gave Noah a look as if he were an idiot, "You can trust her unconditionally, but I can’t."

Tired of wasting words, she snapped, "Tomorrow morning, come to the house to pick up Little May. I’ll personally send you both off."

Melissa soon left. Instead of heading directly home, she bought a few things for Little May before returning.

Noah went back to the old estate and saw Cooper discussing wedding plans with Isabella Ross. He immediately stormed over, asking irritably, "Why do you want to send Little May away?"

Cooper frowned, not responding.

"Taking in one more child—letting Ella have a big sister—what’s so bad about that?" Noah thundered with frustration.

Cooper raised his head and gazed back. "What’s this? Yolanda doesn’t want to raise May?"

He let out a cold laugh, stood up, and stared Noah in the eye. "If you both think Little May is such trouble, I can find her an adoptive family. No need for you to blow up about it, big brother."

"Alright, alright, it’s just a small matter," Isabella pushed at Noah lightly, "You don’t need to get this worked up."

Noah gritted his teeth and turned to head upstairs.

Isabella then asked Cooper, "What’s going on? You’re sending Little May away? Why? Didn’t you like that little girl?"

"Don’t interfere." Cooper seemed irritable and glanced at the items on the table. "Fine. Mom, you can decide. I don’t care."

"You..." Isabella grew furious at his lack of enthusiasm, snapping, "Let me remind you, Cooper: once is an exception, twice is tolerable, but there won’t be a third time! This wedding cannot be treated casually!"

Cooper paused in his steps, raising his voice, "Got it."

Meanwhile, Melissa returned home with a pile of gifts—beautiful clothes and toys. "Do you like them, May?"

"I love them!" Little May gleefully held a dress against herself, asking, "Mom, look! Is it pretty?"

"It’s beautiful, so beautiful." Melissa increasingly felt how much Little May resembled her younger self. She pulled the child closer, saying, "May, tomorrow Uncle Coldson is coming to take you. You’ll go to country M for a while, okay?"

"Why?" Little May dropped the dress, embracing Melissa tightly. "I don’t want to be apart from Mommy."

"May, be good. Once Mommy and Uncle Coldson finish the wedding, I’ll bring you back," Melissa said earnestly, "Mommy promises."

Little May blinked, "But can I stay with Aunt Yolanda first? I don’t have to go so far to country M."

"No, Aunt Yolanda’s father is sick, and she has her sister to care for. She doesn’t have time to take care of you." Melissa coaxed her softly, "Mommy knows May wouldn’t want to trouble Aunt Yolanda, right?"

Little May thought it over seriously, then nodded and agreed. "Alright then. Mommy, make sure to come and get me."

"Don’t worry. Mommy will come back for you very soon."

Little May stretched out her tiny hand, "Mommy, pinky promise!"

"Pinky promise!" Melissa looked at Little May with a touch of melancholy. After all, she was her own flesh and blood—such a sweet, well-behaved child who had lived with her this long without causing any trouble.

Melissa felt that if it weren’t for Cooper insisting on sending Little May away, she might have raised May properly.

But in this world, there are no "ifs." When it came to choosing between her marriage with Cooper and Little May, Melissa had no hesitation.

That night, Melissa packed Little May’s belongings and did something unprecedented—she held her daughter as they slept.

Children seem to have a natural sixth sense. All night long, Little May nestled into her arms repeatedly, making Melissa’s heart ache all the more.

The next morning, Noah arrived on time, and the group headed together to the airport.

"Mommy, be sure to come back for Little May, okay?"

"Be good. Once Mommy and Uncle Coldson finish the wedding, I’ll come back for May very soon." Melissa kissed Little May on the forehead. "You have to be good over there. Mommy will call you."

"Goodbye, Mommy! Please remember to come back for Little May," the little one said, waving fervently.

Carrying the luggage, Noah whispered near Melissa’s ear, "I’ve never seen such a sweet kid—and such a cruel mother."

"You don’t understand. She was meant to come into this world." Melissa’s expression remained unmoving. "I’ve been more than kind to her."

Noah had no words left. Picking up Little May, he said, "Let’s go. It’s time for security checks."

The pair quickly passed through security and entered the boarding area.

"Uncle Coldson, let me down. I can walk by myself," Little May suddenly said.

"Alright." With some time left before boarding, Noah set Little May down, letting her hold onto his finger as they walked toward the gate.

"Uncle Coldson, does Mommy not want me anymore?" Little May suddenly asked.

The smile on Noah’s face instantly vanished. He froze in place, crouching down in front of Little May. "Why would that happen? Mommy is just temporarily apart from you for a while..."

"You don’t have to lie to me, Uncle. I’m a kid, but I understand everything." The small girl’s expression was serious, and her big eyes glistened with tears she stubbornly refused to let fall.

She pointed at her cartoon suitcase. "It’s filled with new clothes and toys. Mommy has never bought me this many nice things before."

Noah felt a sharp pain in his chest, as if someone were clutching his heart tightly, making it hard to breathe.

Little May wiped away a tear. "Uncle, where are you taking me? Will it be a relief shelter?"

Noah couldn’t even manage a word. He could only look at the child with a face full of helpless sorrow.

Little May wiped another tear and sniffled, "If it’s a relief shelter, then I don’t want these things. Leave them for Ella’s little sister instead."

"Why... why don’t you want them?" Noah finally spoke, his voice strained. "Don’t you like them, May?"

"People at relief shelters don’t have enough to eat or wear. If I keep these, they’ll just get taken away anyway." Little May forced a small smile, "It’s better to give them to Ella’s little sister. These clothes are so pretty; she can wear them when she grows a little."

Tears rolled down her little cheeks one by one, yet her mouth stubbornly curved upward. "Her sister is a lucky child. May is not!"
