Chapter 322: Chapter 322 Jaxon Greenwood Remembers the Day He Was Stabbed

The restroom door swung open, releasing an overwhelming stench. The floor was covered in yellow puddles—it was obvious what had happened.

Jaxon Greenwood stood in the corner, his back turned to everyone, trembling uncontrollably.

"Everyone, please step out." Yolanda Greenwood couldn’t bear the sight any longer and turned to ask Lola Gold and the others to leave.

"Yolanda, it’s okay, I’ll stay and help you," Lola said immediately.

"No need." Yolanda shook her head, pleading with the group, "Just go, please? Go!"

"Let’s head to the living room and wait," Adam Sterling was the first to respond, nodding to Yolanda before pulling Noah Coldson and Lola Gold along.

Standing by the door, Yolanda sniffled and called softly, "Dad, they’re gone now. It’s okay."

Jaxon remained pressed firmly against the corner.

He was the Patriarch of the Greenwood Family, a man full of dignity and grandeur his entire life. But now... even though his mind was clouded, he still couldn’t bear to face such an incident.

"Dad!" Yolanda cautiously stepped closer and gently tugged at Jaxon’s sleeve. "Dad, it’s really okay. You’re just ill—no one will say anything."

Jaxon turned slowly after hearing her words. "You... You don’t despise me, do you?"

"Of course not!" Yolanda couldn’t hold back her tears. "Dad, you’re my father. How could I ever despise my own dad?"

Sniffling, she added, "Didn’t every child wet the bed when they were little? Did their parents stop loving them because of it?"

Jaxon stood there, stunned, gazing unblinkingly at her.

"Dad, it’s really fine. Stay right here, and I’ll get you some clean clothes. You can take a shower, and it’ll all be okay," Yolanda said before turning to leave, but felt Jaxon pulling her back.

Confused, she looked over her shoulder.

"You’re not Melissa. Who are you?" Jaxon suddenly asked.

Yolanda was slightly startled, afraid Jaxon might try to run off. "Dad, I am Melissa. I’m your daughter."

"No, Melissa doesn’t want me anymore, I know that," Jaxon murmured to himself. "Melissa doesn’t want me anymore, and Gemma left me too. I know, I know it all."

He looked at Yolanda again. "So who are you? Are you really my daughter?"

Yolanda found it hard to believe. Tentatively, she said, "I’m Yolanda. I’m your daughter."

"Yolanda, Yolanda..." Jaxon kept repeating the name, as if trying to cement it in his memory.

Seeing this, Yolanda felt relieved. "Dad, stay here, and I’ll go get the clothes."

"Alright, Yolanda. Come back soon."

"Mm."

Yolanda rushed to grab clean clothes and tidied up the restroom floor. "Dad, can you shower on your own, or should I call my brother to help you?"

"I’ll do it myself." At this moment, Jaxon seemed much more clear-headed.

"Alright, I’ll wait outside then," Yolanda said, stepping out.

"Yolanda?" Lola Gold’s voice called from the living room. "Can you come here for a second?"

Yolanda walked over to find Lola handing her a pack of adult diapers. She immediately understood.

"Give them to Uncle Greenwood," Lola said helplessly.

"Okay, I’ll try." Yolanda returned to the restroom door, and once Jaxon changed his clothes and came out, she handed him the adult diapers. "Dad, do you want to wear these?"

"No!" Jaxon snatched them from her and flung them far away. "Don’t even think about making me wear those things."

"Alright, alright, you don’t have to wear them," Yolanda had anticipated his reaction.

Back in the living room, Jaxon still looked embarrassed, but Noah and Adam treated the situation as if nothing had happened, conversing with him as usual.

Yolanda brought out a photo album, and the group gathered around to look through it.

"Dad, look, this is your wedding photo with Mom. You two were so young back then, such a handsome couple," Yolanda said.

Jaxon smiled faintly and reached out to touch the image of Gemma Morgan.

"See, Mom’s smile is so beautiful in this one. And here, Dad, you were so dashing..."

As she spoke, Yolanda carefully observed Jaxon’s expression. She intentionally spoke less about the photos that included Melissa Greenwood.

Gradually, Jaxon’s expression grew heavier.

Suddenly, a tear fell onto the photo album.

"Dad, are you alright?" Yolanda panicked and began to close the album. "Maybe we can look at this tomorrow instead."

Jaxon stared down, his hand lingering over the image of the woman. "Why didn’t I come back sooner? If I had returned earlier, would your mom have..."

He couldn’t finish his sentence, his voice breaking into sobs.

Adam nudged Lola Gold and Noah Coldson. "Let’s head downstairs for a walk."

The three of them left together.

Yolanda now sat opposite Jaxon. "Dad, are your memories coming back?"

Jaxon gazed at her before suddenly rising and embracing her tightly. "Yolanda, your dad is useless... Your dad is useless."

"Dad!" Yolanda couldn’t hold back anymore and cried her heart out while hugging Jaxon. "Dad, don’t say that. Please don’t say that. It’s my fault for not protecting you better."

No one expected these pictures to trigger Jaxon’s memories and temporarily restore his lucidity.

"Dad, what really happened that day? Who... hurt you?" Yolanda seized the chance to ask while Jaxon was still clear-headed.

Jaxon tried hard to recall. "I don’t know. The person wore a hat and mask—it was impossible to make out their face. But after they stabbed me, I heard them answering a phone call."

Yolanda grabbed Jaxon’s hand excitedly. "What did they say? Were there any clues?"

"They called the other person..." Jaxon hesitated before continuing, "Miss Greenwood."

Yolanda was in disbelief. "Could it really be Melissa? Did she... hire a hitman?"

Jaxon shook his head. "I don’t know, Yolanda. Just let it go. Don’t go after her—it’s too dangerous."

Choking up, he added, "Dad is in no condition to protect you anymore. You must protect yourself, do you hear me?"

"Don’t worry, Dad, I’ll be fine," Yolanda reassured him, then changed the subject. "By the way, Dad, I became a mom recently."

"Really?" Jaxon’s face lit up with joy. "I think I’ve seen a little baby around recently. Is that your child? Where is she?"

"Dad, let me show you." Yolanda led Jaxon to the nursery, where the postpartum doula was watching over Little Ella.

Yolanda picked up Little Ella. "Dad, hold her. Her name is Ella."

"Ella? That’s a lovely name." Jaxon carefully cradled the baby, his eyes growing misty. "Little Ella, I’m your grandpa. Remember that? Grandpa!"

After admiring the baby, Yolanda moved to discuss something else. "Dad, I’m planning to send you away tomorrow."

"Send me away?" A hint of sadness crossed Jaxon’s face.

"Dad, I’ll be divorcing Cooper Coldson soon. After that, I’ll leave here as well and come find you, but you need to leave first."

Jaxon nodded. "That’s good. Everyone leaving... That’s good!"
