Chapter 319: Chapter 319: Newlyweds’ Jewelry Themed around Islands
The next day, after breakfast, the weather was beautiful outside, so Yolanda Greenwood decided to take Little Ella and Jaxon Greenwood downstairs for a walk.
"Sure, I’ll go with you." Lola Gold agreed wholeheartedly, her hands expressing support. Her morning sickness had improved significantly recently, and the baby was already five weeks old.
Yolanda asked the postpartum doula to put clothes on Little Ella while she helped Jaxon Greenwood.
"Dad, let’s change clothes and go downstairs, okay?"
"Go downstairs?" Jaxon thought for a moment, "To find Gemma?"
Yolanda felt a pang of bitterness in her heart but could only deceive him. "Yes, downstairs to find Mom. Come on, let me help you change your clothes."
"Alright, to find Gemma, find Gemma..." Jaxon murmured repeatedly, soon finishing dressing.
The group went downstairs and headed to the square in the neighborhood. Little Ella was in the stroller, her big, blinking eyes full of curiosity at everything around her.
At first, Yolanda was worried that the baby was too young to be taken outside. However, the postpartum doula assured her that Ella was in good health, and since it was now spring with mild weather, occasional outings were good for the baby.
When she saw that Little Ella was completely unafraid and showed no signs of discomfort, Yolanda finally felt reassured.
Meanwhile, Jaxon sat on a bench, still murmuring about finding Gemma. However, he didn’t act out or wander off, which was quite comforting.
Yolanda said to Lola Gold, "I’m going to make a call."
"Go ahead, don’t worry." Lola squatted next to the baby stroller, focused entirely on Little Ella. It was obvious she adored the baby.
Yolanda planned to make a call to the company. Although she was still on maternity leave, bringing Jaxon back home incurred many expenses, and she needed to find ways to earn money.
The call was quickly answered—it was Sophie Taylor.
"Yolanda? Why did you call?" Sophie sounded genuinely happy. "I saw the baby you posted pictures of—so cute! We were even discussing when to come visit you."
After some small talk, Yolanda got to the main topic. "Do you have any work you’re overwhelmed with? I can help out."
"Yolanda, are you in urgent need of money?" Sophie immediately understood, "Is it a lot? If it’s not much, maybe I can help. You’re still on maternity leave and caring for a baby. Working again would be too exhausting for you."
"It’s fine. I’ve recovered very well, don’t worry." Yolanda wasn’t dealing with a specific amount but wouldn’t trouble others with her needs.
Sophie understood. "Yolanda, actually, there’s a project only you can handle."
"Really?" Yolanda sounded quietly thrilled.
"A few days ago, our team got an order from a client who specifically requested that you design it personally. However, they aren’t in a hurry and said they could wait until you return from maternity leave."
"Really? That’s wonderful." Yolanda grew even happier. Being specifically requested meant she wouldn’t take away from Sophie’s team’s earnings.
"Yes, it’s a set of wedding jewelry—rings, necklaces, earrings—with a quoted price of ten million." Sophie sounded envious. "For someone at your managerial level, this price makes total sense."
She lowered her voice and added, "Yolanda, if this deal goes through, I bet you’ll be promoted to design director."
"Let’s not think about that for now. Let’s focus on what’s in front of us," Yolanda replied, asking for specific details about the client’s request.
Sophie sounded a bit puzzled. "There aren’t many detailed requirements. They did give a theme though—’Island.’"
"Island?"
"Yes, Island." Sophie sounded teasing as she asked, "Could this be someone pursuing you, deliberately finding a way to have you design their jewelry?"
"Probably not." Yolanda thought for a moment. Recently, the only man close to her was Noah Coldson.
But such a thing wouldn’t occur to Noah, even if he racked his brain. It didn’t seem like something Adam Sterling would suggest either.
She couldn’t figure out who it might be.
"Yolanda! Something’s wrong!"
Suddenly, Yolanda heard Lola Gold’s voice behind her. She quickly hung up the phone. "Sophie, I have something to handle. Talk later, thank you!"
"What happened?" she asked worriedly, looking at Lola.
"Your dad... your dad’s gone." Lola was panting heavily, clearly having looked around before coming to inform her.
Her voice trembled with tears. "The postpartum doula and I were busy playing with Ella. When we looked up again, he was gone."
"It’s okay. You keep an eye on Ella, I’ll go look." Yolanda comforted Lola briefly before immediately calling the police.
After reporting him missing, she also called Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling.
"Got it, don’t worry. We’ll help you look." Noah reassured her before hanging up and instructing Adam to go meet them. "I’ll try to think of other solutions."
A group of people worked tirelessly through the morning and finally found Jaxon Greenwood.
Noah drove to pick up Yolanda. "Let’s go. I’ll take you to retrieve him."
"Thank you, big brother." Yolanda’s voice carried a hint of sobbing. She had worked so hard to bring her dad home; losing him again was unbearable.
On the way, she gradually noticed something familiar about their route. "Isn’t this the road to the cemetery?"
This road was quite secluded, with few people and cars.
"Yes." Noah sighed but didn’t offer more explanation.
Unexpectedly, the car really stopped at the cemetery entrance. Yolanda stared at Noah in disbelief. "My dad... came to the cemetery?"
"Yes, the staff has him now. I’ll take you to him."
The two got out of the car and walked toward the cemetery’s office area.
The more Yolanda thought, the more incredible it seemed. "That day when I brought him here, he saw my mom’s photo on the tombstone and started acting up, running away. How could he come back here today?"
Noah shook his head. "The staff said he kept murmuring about finding Gemma."
Yolanda’s eyes reddened, quickly realizing the possibility.
Jaxon didn’t have many memories left. He must have remembered seeing Gemma Morgan’s photo here that day and thought she was here, prompting him to come search.
The thought made Yolanda’s heart ache immensely. Jaxon truly loved Gemma Morgan, though it was such a pity...
The two soon came face-to-face with Jaxon.
As soon as Jaxon saw Yolanda, he ran over. "Find Gemma! You lied to me. Find Gemma! I want Gemma!"
"Alright, I’ll take you. I’ll take you to see Gemma." Yolanda held back her emotions and took Jaxon’s hand, leading him back into the cemetery.
This time, Jaxon didn’t try to run away but timidly hid behind Yolanda, looking around for Gemma Morgan’s photo.
Soon, the two arrived at Gemma Morgan’s grave. Jaxon immediately let go of Yolanda’s hand and dashed to the tombstone, gently touching the photo on it. "Gemma, Gemma is here."
It seemed Yolanda had guessed right.
She sniffled and smiled, saying, "Yes, Mom is here. Dad, whatever you want to say, just say it to Mom."
Not wanting to interrupt them, she stepped back a little to stand beside Noah.
Noah was equally pained. "Yolanda, we can’t delay the matter of finding a nursing home anymore."
