Chapter 318: The Two Children Shouldn’t See Each Other Anymore

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: The Two Children Shouldn’t See Each Other Anymore

Isabella Ross furrowed her brow, "What are you trying to say?"

"Let Gabriel stay with you to be raised," Yolanda Greenwood immediately replied.

Isabella Ross asked again, "Did Melissa Greenwood do something?"

Yolanda Greenwood remained silent.

Isabella Ross’s expression shifted, "A woman wanting to marry better is understandable. I never believed ambition was a bad thing, and I don’t wish for my two grandsons to be naive simpletons."

Yolanda Greenwood finally spoke, "Ambition is fine, striving for something is fine, but there’s always a line."

Isabella Ross gazed thoughtfully at Yolanda Greenwood for a while before finally averting her eyes, "Rest assured, I’ll take care of the child."

She turned and pushed the door open to leave.

Yolanda Greenwood finally breathed a sigh of relief and followed Isabella Ross upstairs.

"Alright, it’s getting late. Our Gabriel needs to sleep now," Isabella Ross said gently as she picked up Little Ella. "Ella should go home to sleep too."

Clearly, Ella adored her brother, babbling in protest.

Isabella Ross chuckled, "Ella loves her brother so much? Why not ask your mom if Ella can stay with her brother for a few more days?"

In an instant, everyone turned to look at Yolanda Greenwood as if she were the villain intending to separate the siblings.

Yolanda Greenwood was speechless—she wasn’t falling for this trap. She took Little Ella into her arms, "Alright, tonight is really too late. She can visit her brother another day."

She carried Little Ella and headed outside.

Suddenly, the baby cot holding little Gabriel started to emit cries, "Waa... waa..."

Soon after, Little Ella in Yolanda Greenwood’s arms also began crying, "Waa... waa..."

"Why not let Ella stay here for the night?" Isabella Ross hurriedly picked up Gabriel and asked Yolanda Greenwood with concern.

"No way!" Yolanda Greenwood refused firmly and strode out carrying Ella, fearing she might give in.

She knew that if she let Ella stay tonight, it might become a precedent to always let her stay—and she couldn’t afford to lose her daughter, too.

Both children were crying, and it was the first time they’d both cried so miserably. Gabriel even appeared to be on the verge of crying himself into a respiratory fit—it was clear his temper was fierce.

Yolanda Greenwood forced herself to ignore their cries and quickly descended the stairs.

"Try talking to her again," Isabella Ross stayed in the nursery holding Gabriel and asked Cooper Coldson to persuade Yolanda Greenwood.

Cooper Coldson turned and chased after her.

By this time, Yolanda Greenwood was already leaving the Coldson family estate. Noah Coldson was by her side, trying to amuse Little Ella, "Ella, be good. Look at the sky. Are those stars? They’re so bright, aren’t they?"

The little girl was remarkably well-behaved; sensing her mother wouldn’t change her mind, she stopped wailing and switched to quiet sobbing, her aggrieved pity invoking even more heartbreak.

"Can you be so heartless?" Cooper Coldson’s voice suddenly came from behind.

Yolanda Greenwood paused in her stride, but she didn’t look back.

Cooper Coldson stepped closer, "Let Ella stay just a little longer—or just one night. What harm would that do? It’s the first time I’ve seen Gabriel this happy. Why do you have to separate them?"

Yolanda Greenwood handed the child to Noah Coldson. "Wait for me in the car."

Little Ella seemed to sense her mother’s unease and began crying loudly again, "Waa... waa..."

Noah Coldson hesitated, glancing toward her.

"Wait for me in the car!" Yolanda Greenwood repeated.

"Alright." Noah Coldson softly soothed Little Ella, shot Cooper Coldson a look, and quickly left.

Cooper Coldson’s expression darkened. Watching Noah Coldson leave holding the child stirred his displeasure. He glared coldly at Yolanda Greenwood, "Your heart is harder than stone."

Yolanda Greenwood appeared amused by her anger. "President Coldson, if you’re so compassionate, let me take Gabriel away."

"I’m not trying to snatch Ella—I just want the two kids to spend more time together. After all, they’re siblings; they’re family!" Cooper Coldson believed Yolanda Greenwood was overly cautious.

"Spend more time together, and then what?" Yolanda Greenwood countered. "What happens tomorrow, when I take Ella away? Will they not cry?"

Cooper Coldson went silent.

Yolanda Greenwood sneered, "Cooper Coldson, don’t forget—it was you who insisted on taking Gabriel away. You’re the one who separated them!"

"Gabriel is my son, a Coldson family descendant. This isn’t ’taking’—it’s rightful custody!" Cooper Coldson corrected her.

Yolanda Greenwood stared at him, teeth clenched. "Cooper Coldson, remember this: I will never give up on Gabriel. Ten days from now, in court, I’ll have Gabriel back with me."

"Keep dreaming!" Cooper Coldson was confident. "I have the world’s top legal team. You won’t win."

Yolanda Greenwood held back her emotions. "Even if I can’t win, I’ll fight with everything I have."

She glared icily at Cooper Coldson. "I hope this time, you won’t run away."

With that, she turned and walked briskly away.

Cooper Coldson stared at her retreating figure, unable to hold back his anger. He yelled, "Stop fooling yourself! Don’t forget—I wanted a divorce from the start. I’ve long since had enough!"

The woman didn’t turn her head and got into Noah Coldson’s car.

Cooper Coldson stood rooted in place, watching the car disappear from view. Only then did he let out a deep sigh.

He didn’t return immediately. Wandering aimlessly under the moonlight, his bottled-up frustration dissipated somewhat. Only then did he head back to the estate.

Gabriel was still crying, his voice hoarse from sobbing. Upon seeing Cooper Coldson return, he finally calmed down a little.

Isabella Ross shed heartfelt tears, feeling sorrowful. Watching the two children reunite had brought her immense joy earlier, but now...

She didn’t look at Cooper Coldson, lowering her head as she said, "Since you’ve decided to divorce, make it final—don’t let the two children meet again. Seeing them cry like this, who can bear it?"

Cooper Coldson said nothing. Holding the child in his arms, Little Gabriel turned back into that expressionless little boy—no crying, no fussing, no smiling.

His heart wrenched with pain. He handed Gabriel back to Isabella Ross and went to lie down in his room.

"What a mess!" Isabella Ross shook her head but said no more.

Meanwhile, Melissa Greenwood left the Coldson family estate and immediately hailed a cab home.

On the way, she grew colder and began trembling uncontrollably.

"Miss, are you alright?" The driver noticed her condition and asked with concern.

"Hurry, hurry and get me home!" Melissa Greenwood realized she was having a relapse—her drug addiction was acting up. It was the first time this had happened to her outside.

A wave of unprecedented fear washed over her.

When she finally got home, Little May rushed over to her, "Mom, you..."

Melissa Greenwood shoved her away and rushed upstairs.

Little May picked herself up and followed her to the door, where she saw Melissa Greenwood shaking uncontrollably—looking exactly like Brooks Parker before he died.

Melissa Greenwood tried to get up and close the door, yelling for Little May to get lost. She knew that she looked terrible and couldn’t do anything about it.

All she wanted now was the quickest way to find that peak of euphoria.

Little May watched for a while, then closed the door by herself and left.

Returning to the living room, she resumed playing with her building blocks, seemingly in a very good mood—even humming a nursery rhyme.

"Your head is like a ball, I’ll kick it straight into the mall..."
