Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Cooper Coldson Became an Inescapable Burden

Cooper Coldson received the call while repeatedly watching surveillance video of Yolanda Greenwood in the old man’s room.

Frame by frame, he observed Yolanda’s expression, trying to guess whether she was lying when she said the child was his.

Seeing the caller was Liam Dawson, he almost guessed what the other party intended to do.

Waited a while, seeing the other party did not hang up, he had to answer.

"Mr. Coldson?" Liam’s voice was quite serious.

"It’s me," Cooper replied, his brow slightly furrowed.

"You and Miss Greenwood’s divorce case is set for next Wednesday. Please be sure to attend on time," Liam said with an utterly professional attitude.

"I understand," Cooper was about to hang up when he heard Liam speak again.

"Mr. Coldson, as the judge of this case, I remind you that if you do not want to divorce Miss Greenwood, you can object in court, or appeal after the judgment, but please do not continue to evade."

There was silence on the other end.

Liam had to continue, "The court is a dignified place, and contempt of court is not to be taken lightly."

This time, Cooper hung up directly.

Liam listened to the busy tone on the phone and shook her head helplessly. She had handled countless divorce cases; stubbornly prideful yet suffering men were not uncommon.

The men she saw typically ended in one of two ways: either the divorce went through, and they returned home to decadence and tears, or the divorce was not granted, and they finally saw the light, becoming devoted husbands who loved their wives.

Liam Dawson could not imagine which outcome would befall Cooper; she could only wait and see.

On the other side, after much hesitation, Yolanda Greenwood still sent a message to Melissa Greenwood, "The court date is next Wednesday, remember to remind Cooper."

Melissa was very happy when she saw the message and immediately forwarded it to Cooper, "Cooper, Yolanda said the court date is next Wednesday, I’ll accompany you then."

When Cooper saw the message, he smashed his phone.

In a rage, he muttered to himself, "What? Do I look like an unwanted plaster in your eyes, Yolanda? Don’t flatter yourself!"

He was gnashing his teeth in anger, but still very resistant to the idea of divorcing Yolanda in court.

"It’s too shameful," he thought, he just felt too embarrassed, but it wasn’t that he didn’t want the divorce.

The next day, Lola Gold called Christopher Coldson early.

"Christopher, it’s me."

"I know," Christopher’s voice sounded very tired.

"Christopher, I need to see you, I have something very important to tell you," Lola tried to keep her tone calm.

Silence fell on the other end.

"Don’t worry, just ten minutes, it won’t take too much of your time," Lola said, afraid he would refuse.

"Okay, today at two o’clock, at the café next to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital," Christopher quickly decided on the place.

"Okay, don’t stand me up," Lola hung up and told Yolanda the time and place.

"I’ll go with you this afternoon," Yolanda said immediately, and to comfort Lola, "Don’t worry too much, I believe my uncle will make the right decision."

Lola forced a smile.

Time flew, and at two o’clock in the afternoon, Yolanda and Lola arrived on time at the cafe but did not see Christopher. They found a seat and sat down.

Lola had an uneasy premonition and took the initiative, "I’ll take a picture and send it to him, tell him where we are."

"Okay," Yolanda knew Lola was worried Christopher would not come.

So, she secretly sent another message to Christopher, "We’re at the cafe already, come quickly, or you’ll regret it for the rest of your life."

However, by three o’clock, Christopher had still not appeared.

Yolanda looked at Lola with pity, "Shall I call and urge him?"

"Let’s wait a bit longer," Lola said, feeling they might as well wait patiently since they were there already, "At four o’clock, if he still hasn’t come, I’ll call him."

"Okay."

So, the two sat in silence, waiting, but by four o’clock, Christopher had still not appeared.

Lola’s face didn’t look good; she slowly took out her phone and dialed Christopher’s number. After three or four attempts, Christopher finally answered.

"Christopher, I’m still at the cafe waiting for you, when will you come over?"

"What cafe?"

Christopher’s place was noisy, seemingly crowded with people.

He seemed to realize, "Oh, I forgot, Randy’s feeling particularly unwell today, I can’t make it, Lola, you go home first."

"Christopher, I really have something important, it will only take ten minutes, can’t you spare me that?" Lola almost pleaded.

She heard Randy calling Christopher on the phone.

"Lola, be good, we’ll talk another time," Christopher quickly hung up.

"How is it?" Yolanda asked worriedly.

Lola gave a bitter smile, "He said Randy’s not feeling well and can’t leave her, he needs to be with her."

"Damn it," Yolanda cursed softly, then suddenly asked, "Did you choose this place?"

Lola shook her head, "He did."

Yolanda stood up, "Then Christopher must be at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Lola, shall we go find him?"

"Okay," Lola was obviously a courageous person, immediately agreeing to Yolanda’s suggestion, and they entered the Women’s and Children’s Hospital together.

The hospital was, after all, part of the Coldson Group assets, so Randy was staying in the best room on the top floor, and they found Christopher without much effort.

"Lola..." Seeing Lola, Christopher was obviously surprised, "How did you find me here?"

He quickly furrowed his brow, appearing displeased, "I told you to wait peacefully, once Randy gives birth, I’ll give you an explanation."

"I’m pregnant," Lola got straight to the point.

"What?" Christopher’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Really," Lola affirmed, "I’m pregnant, our child, you..."

Before she could finish, Christopher doubted, "But after your accident last time, wasn’t your uterus injured, and you said you couldn’t get pregnant?"

Lola frowned, "What do you mean? You think I’m deceiving you?"

"Lola, why are you always so impulsive?" Christopher sighed heavily, "In just a few months, Randy will give birth, and then when we clear up the truth, we can be together in good conscience, isn’t that nice?"

Lola was almost at a loss for words; she hadn’t expected Christopher to think of her like this.

"Christopher Coldson!" Yolanda couldn’t stand it anymore, "Do you realize what you’re saying?"

Just then, Randy emerged from the room at the end of the hallway, then collapsed at the entrance to her room.

"Randy!" Christopher turned pale and started to run towards her.

Yolanda grabbed his arm, "Christopher Coldson, Randy’s child has nothing to do with you, it’s a plot concocted by Melissa Greenwood and Sunny Coldson to fool you, wake up!"
