Chapter 270: Chapter 270: Divorce Pronounced Right in Court
"Lola," Christopher Coldson took Lola Gold’s hand, "I’ll take you back to the old house tonight."
He was dead serious, "As long as we get engaged quickly, everyone will know that I’m taken, and they won’t mess around anymore, okay?"
He really treasured Lola Gold and did not want to lose her again.
In his heart, Christopher knew clearly that if he lost Lola Gold again, this woman would never turn back.
Lola Gold was visibly moved, "Have you thought it through?"
Before Christopher could reply, she immediately said, "Christopher, I don’t want to push you, some things can’t be rushed, we..."
"Lola, in your eyes, I might have made this decision because of what happened."
Christopher Coldson gave a bitter laugh, "But you don’t know how long I’ve thought about this decision. In fact, the day I broke up with Sunny, it was already set in stone."
"I want to marry you, and I’d only marry you." Christopher Coldson held both of Lola Gold’s hands, "Lola, come with me to the old house tonight, okay?"
"Okay." Lola Gold’s voice was choked with overwhelming joy.
After talking a bit more, Lola Gold asked Christopher to go ahead and come back for her in the evening, "I want to spend more time with Yolanda today."
"Alright then." Christopher left reluctantly.
Lola Gold hurried to knock on Yolanda Greenwood’s door, "Yolanda, are you asleep?"
The door quickly opened, and Yolanda Greenwood leaned on the door frame, "All soothed?"
"Yolanda!" Lola Gold blushed with embarrassment.
They had breakfast together, and then Lola Gold accompanied Yolanda for a walk downstairs.
"Noah Coldson has been busy lately?"
Yolanda nodded, "Yes, he’s not in Gray City. He’s gone to Capital City. There seems to be some award; some officials want to meet him."
"That’s great." Lola Gold was happy for Noah Coldson.
"Lola, are you nervous about going to the old house tonight?" Yolanda pulled her to sit down on a wooden bench in the small garden.
"How can I not be nervous?" Lola Gold took a deep breath, turned her head to Yolanda, "Yolanda, when was your first time going to the old house? Was it with Cooper Coldson?"
"No." Yolanda Greenwood looked down, a bitter look in her eyes, "It was with Eliana Reed."
Lola Gold instantly understood; it must have been a forceful marriage demand.
She immediately said apologetically, "I’m sorry Yolanda, I won’t ask anymore. Actually, it doesn’t matter. As long as I have Christopher to back me up, I don’t need to be afraid of them."
"You, you," Yolanda Greenwood shook her head with a smile, "You’re right. The person who will spend a lifetime with you is Christopher. As for the others, just be yourself and it will be fine."
She couldn’t help but think back to the past, "After I married Cooper, the first time we went back together, thinking about it now, I was really foolish."
She gave a wry smile, "Maybe because I knew Cooper despised me, I cared even more about his family. I tried desperately to please everyone. No matter how they bullied me, even with servants, they still bossed me around. I bore it all, doing my best to satisfy every one of them."
"Yolanda..." Lola Gold listened with heartache; these little things, Yolanda had never told her before.
"Later, until I had decided to divorce, only then did I suddenly realize that actually, our life was just ours," Yolanda Greenwood forced a smile, "If Cooper didn’t love me, even if others really were satisfied with me, it made no difference."
"The jerk." Lola Gold couldn’t help but curse Cooper, but she still spoke up for Noah, "But now it’s better, with big brother Noah, you don’t have to please anyone."
Yolanda Greenwood let out a light laugh but did not continue the conversation.
Was she really going to marry Noah?
To be honest, she still felt that everything was unreal. In her heart, Noah was still her big brother.
Upon returning home, Yolanda Greenwood told Lola Gold some things to pay attention to at the old house, as even with Christopher’s protection, the old Coldson house was no charity.
There was no need to worry about Old Master Coldson, but Isabella Ross and Sunny Coldson were likely to be more troublesome than the other.
As dinner time approached, Christopher came.
Before they left, Yolanda Greenwood reminded Christopher, "Don’t let Lola suffer any grievances."
Actually, back when she was a free slave in the old house, Christopher was a bit better to her, at least treating her as a person.
So she looked at Christopher through a somewhat filtered lens.
The pair quickly departed.
At this point, Noah Coldson’s video call came through, and Yolanda Greenwood immediately answered.
"Have you had dinner yet?" Noah Coldson asked with concern.
Behind him, there was a noisy chatter, as if he were at a celebration party.
"Not yet, I’ll eat in a bit," Yolanda responded with a smile, "What about you? Have you eaten?"
"I’m eating now; had a little drink." Noah Coldson looked back, "They’re all making noise. Adam Sterling is holding them off for me."
"Big brother is really owing Dr. Sterling more and more."
Noah Coldson let out a helpless smile.
The two fell silent for a moment, and Noah asked, "Um... how’s the divorce lawsuit going? Is the court date coming up soon?"
"Yes." Yolanda nodded, "Next Wednesday."
"Good." Noah Coldson hesitated, the words on the tip of his tongue turned back with a chuckle, "I should be back by next Wednesday."
"I’ll wait for you." Yolanda knew what he wanted to ask, "Big brother, I’ve met with the judge handling our case. She said if the court session happens and neither Cooper nor I has changed our minds, the divorce can be declared right on the spot, and then... at most within seven working days, we could have our divorce certificate."
Joy was evident in Noah’s eyes, the noise behind him grew louder; it seemed Adam could no longer hold them off.
Yolanda quickly said, "Big brother, go celebrate with them. I’m going to get something to eat."
"Okay." Before hanging up the video call, Noah said loudly, "After I return, I have a gift for you, and... there are some things I want to say to you."
Yolanda nodded and ended the video call.
What kind of gift could it be?
She didn’t know, nor did she know what Noah wanted to say.
For her, the most important thing now was for the court session next Wednesday to go smoothly, and everything would finally settle.
At the old Coldson house, Christopher Coldson called everyone together.
During the meal, he stood up and introduced her with grandeur, "Today, with the exception of Little Noah who’s not in Gray City, all the Coldson Family are here."
He grinned at Old Master Coldson, who was seated at the head of the table, "And thanks to the Old Master for making a special effort to come downstairs for me and Lola."
Old Master Coldson snorted, saying to Lola Gold, "I’m doing this for Lola’s sake, what does it have to do with you, you brat."
Lola Gold smiled her gratitude; she knew Old Master Coldson did it for Yolanda, whom he cherished like the apple of his eye, and she was just benefiting from the connection.
Christopher continued, "The person sitting beside me is named Lola Gold, the woman I, Christopher Coldson, have chosen for life. I’m introducing her to you today because, from now on, she is part of the Coldson Family too, and we hope to receive your blessings!"
