Chapter 267: Chapter 267 This is Our Last Connection

Yolanda Greenwood thought she would next meet Liam Dawson in court, but unexpectedly it was in a coffee shop.

"Miss Greenwood, we meet again." As ever with short, neat hair and a faint dimple, Dawson felt considerably closer to Greenwood upon meeting again.

"Sister Dawson, hello, we meet again." Yolanda offered an awkward smile.

"I’m sorry for calling you out during work," Dawson tugged at the corner of her mouth, "It’s actually about your divorce. I feel... maybe you could reconsider it."

Yolanda frowned in displeasure, "Sister Dawson, I know it’s your responsibility, but I think I made myself very clear last time—I won’t change my mind."

After meeting Cooper Coldson, Dawson was surprised to face such obstinacy from Yolanda.

"Miss Greenwood, don’t get upset, may I ask why?" Full of doubt, she continued, "I’ve met Mr. Coldson. Frankly, after handling so many divorce cases, I think, in terms of looks or family background, Mr. Coldson’s qualifications are very appealing."

She probed further, "You mentioned he didn’t have an affair during the pregnancy, so what on earth makes you so determined to get a divorce?"

Yolanda repeated herself, annoyed, "Have I not made myself clear? He wants to marry someone else, isn’t that reason enough?"

She was almost laughing with frustration, "Are you telling me the courts support bigamy now?"

"Of course not, but as far as I know..." Dawson smiled, "Mr. Coldson doesn’t have romantic feelings for that benefactor of his, or maybe, he doesn’t necessarily have to marry her."

"What do you mean?" Yolanda asked with a shocked expression, "You’ve met Cooper? He changed his mind?"

Dawson nodded, "I think so. It seems there might be some misunderstanding between you two, perhaps it would be better to talk in person."

"That’s impossible." Yolanda took out her phone, stood up and walked aside, then immediately called Cooper.

Cooper had just arranged an appointment with a fertility specialist in M country, planning to work around the clock to take Melissa Greenwood there in the next few days, when unexpectedly Yolanda called him.

He was in a good mood.

If he could cure Melissa’s illness, maybe, he really wouldn’t have to marry her.

Cheerfully, he answered the phone, "Hello? What’s the..."

"What the hell are you playing at? Have you had your fun?" Yolanda’s accusing voice came screaming through, "Cooper, I’m telling you, I’m about to marry Noah Coldson soon, so please agree to the divorce and stop playing around, okay?"

Cooper’s brow instantly furrowed, "You called just to say this?"

"What else do we have to talk about?" Yolanda asked angrily, "Cooper, this is our last contact. Please cooperate and end this quickly, okay?"

Cooper let out a cold laugh, "Yolanda, you’re really ridiculous. Do you think I don’t want a divorce?"

"Then hurry up, don’t let others misunderstand!"

"Misunderstand?" Cooper chuckled, "Misunderstand what? You’re the one who misunderstood? Surely you don’t think I’ve developed feelings for you?"

Yolanda detested his sarcastic tone, "I’m well aware of reality, it’s Judge Dawson who misunderstood, thinking you don’t agree to the divorce."

Cooper’s face turned exceedingly grim, "Yolanda, please tell Judge Dawson, I wholeheartedly agree to the divorce. Whenever the court sets a date, I’ll be there."

With that, he didn’t wait for Yolanda to say another word, and hung up the phone, then slammed it down.

Ridiculous!

Everything he was doing was utterly ridiculous!

"Psycho!" Yolanda cursed at the phone. Though she had expected him to agree to the divorce, his mocking still made her feel unavoidably upset.

She returned to her seat, smiling weakly, "Sister Dawson, you really misunderstood, Cooper agrees to the divorce."

"Really?" Dawson didn’t believe her judgment was wrong; Cooper clearly didn’t want a divorce that day.

"If you don’t believe it, you can call him yourself," Yolanda added, "But I suggest you’d better not call him, unless you want to be cursed at."

Dawson tugged awkwardly at the corner of her mouth.

"If neither of us have objections, when can we get the divorce certificate?" Yolanda asked with interest.

"If the hearing is in about a week, and if both of you agree to divorce in court and have no objections on the division of property," Dawson estimated, "you should receive the divorce certificate roughly seven working days later."

Yolanda nodded. So, in half a month, in half a month she could finally divorce Cooper entirely.

"Alright, Sister Dawson, thanks for making the trip for nothing. See you in court."

"See you in court!"

Once they parted, Yolanda felt a huge sigh of relief.

She didn’t return to the office but called Sophie Taylor to handle some matters and went home instead.

It so happened that Lola Gold came back too.

"Did you have a date?" Yolanda noticed Lola holding a large bouquet of roses, looking very happy.

Lola nodded. After settling in, she pulled Yolanda to sit on the couch, "Yolanda, I want to introduce you to someone."

"Who?" Yolanda already had a hunch. When she wasn’t in Gray City, she felt something was off with Lola. Smiling, she asked, "Let me guess, it’s not... a boyfriend, right?"

Lola nodded, "Yes."

"Good for you, Lola! Congratulations." Yolanda was genuinely happy for her; she could tell Lola truly liked this boyfriend.

"How about we have dinner together tonight?" Lola suggested again, "Since the matter with you and Cooper is coming to an end, it would be like an early celebration?"

Yolanda agreed with a nod, "Sure."

Lola hurried to make a call to arrange it.

When the time came, they left together, with Lola visibly nervous along the way.

"What’s the matter?" Yolanda couldn’t help but laugh, "I’m not a feudal parent. Even if I don’t like him, I won’t try to split you two up."

Lola hung her head, "But you’re my best friend, I still very much hope to have your blessing."

"Silly girl," Yolanda found Lola’s behavior odd, pulling her hand and reassuring her, "Don’t worry, as long as this person isn’t vile, I will agree."

"Okay." Lola forced a smile, obviously still apprehensive.

Seeing her like this, Yolanda had a faint guess about who it might be, yet the possibility seemed so low, it left her unsettled.

Arriving at the appointed place, it was a renowned private kitchen restaurant in Gray City, where reservations were difficult to get.

Yolanda had been there a few times with Cooper, even telling Lola she liked it here, so she didn’t expect to choose this place for their meet up.

Before entering, Yolanda praised, on purpose, to Lola, "Setting aside everything else, your boyfriend’s taste is certainly admirable."
