Chapter 263: Chapter 263 Uncle Coldson Says He Doesn’t Want a Divorce Anymore

The next day, Judge Liam Dawson met with Cooper Coldson.

When he saw Yolanda Greenwood, he was slightly amazed as he thought she was more beautiful than many young stars. His shock only increased when he finally saw Cooper Coldson.

It wasn’t until he sat in the president’s office at the top of the Coldson Group building that he realized the case he had received was a high-profile divorce case.

"Mr. Coldson, hello, I am Liam Dawson," he introduced himself according to the procedure, "Your wife has already filed for divorce; you must be aware of it?"

Cooper Coldson sat on the couch with his legs crossed and nodded.

"I am the judge in charge of your case." Liam felt some pressure being stared at by the man, "Here’s our process; we will attempt mediation, and if it’s successful, there will be no need for a trial, but if it fails, we can only..."

He gave a nervous laugh, "They say it takes a thousand years to sleep beside someone; I don’t think you’d really want to take this to court."

Cooper Coldson changed his position but didn’t say anything.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door, followed by its opening, revealing a little head.

"Uncle Coldson, it’s me, can I come in?" It was May.

"Come in," Cooper Coldson’s face showed a slight smile, "But there is a guest here now, so you can’t be noisy, just play quietly by yourself."

"Okay." May looked at Liam, "Hello, Auntie; I am going to play and won’t disturb your talk."

Liam was slightly surprised, "This child..."

Hearing the child call Cooper Coldson ’Uncle’, it indicated that she was not his child, which was somewhat strange.

"It’s nothing, let’s continue." For a moment, Cooper Coldson didn’t know how to introduce May, deep down, he didn’t want to mention Melissa Greenwood in front of the judge.

Liam looked at the child again before continuing, "May I ask, is Miss Greenwood alone wanting the divorce, or do you share this intention?"

Cooper Coldson did not answer immediately, he thought for a while before saying, "It’s a mutual decision, I suppose."

"What’s the reason?" Liam adjusted his rimless glasses, "Why do you want to divorce Miss Greenwood, especially since she is about to give birth?"

Cooper Coldson looked over, "What did she say?"

"Miss Greenwood said that you already have a new marriage partner." By now, Liam was almost certain that the imposing boss in front of him was perhaps not so keen on the divorce.

This case was indeed unlike any he had encountered before.

Yolanda Greenwood’s financial situation was probably average, for someone like her who had successfully married into a super-wealthy family, even in a divorce, she would usually take a large sum of money after giving birth to the child.

But during yesterday’s conversation with Yolanda Greenwood, she never mentioned division of property, and she intended to take the child with her as well.

Truly unusual!

Most importantly, the super-rich boss in front of him seemingly didn’t really want a divorce.

"What she said is not wrong." After a while, Cooper Coldson spoke, clearly reluctant.

Liam sensed Cooper Coldson’s mood and asked again, "Did Mr. Coldson cheat on his wife during her pregnancy, falling in love with another woman?"

"Of course not." This time Cooper Coldson replied quite promptly.

"Then..." Liam was even more puzzled, "You want to marry someone else... Is it a business marriage? The family’s decision?"

"Neither," Cooper Coldson patiently explained, "It’s more like repaying a debt; she saved the lives of me and my brother, paying some irreversible price in the process."

Liam nodded thoughtfully, suggesting, "But marrying to repay a debt, does this woman love Mr. Coldson dearly?"

Cooper Coldson inadvertently frowned, "Perhaps, in any case, it’s her wish."

"Oh." Liam smiled awkwardly, "I do think marrying as a way to repay a debt isn’t a good choice."

Cooper Coldson raised an eyebrow, signaling Liam to continue.

"Marriage is fundamentally about two people maintaining it together, even if Mr. Coldson marries that lady to repay a debt, he can’t provide the love and care a wife deserves after the marriage."

"She might temporarily satisfy her love for you by marrying you, but a lack of love will only lead her to endless regret and disappointment later in life."

Cooper Coldson seemed contemplative, frowning without a word.

"By the way, Mr. Coldson, about the irreversible price you just mentioned..." Liam cautiously asked, "Did it cause some physical disability?"

Cooper Coldson nodded.

"With your wealth and connections, is it still incurable?"

Cooper Coldson fell silent again; from the moment he decided to marry Melissa Greenwood, he had accepted that Melissa couldn’t bear children and hadn’t considered treating her.

Because he didn’t care, nor had he ever thought about having a child with Melissa.

But now, hearing Liam’s words, his thoughts were slowly changing.

"Of course, these are Mr. Coldson’s private matters; I’ve spoken too much." Liam gave a forced smile, "Back to the topic, you also agree to the divorce, right?"

"What did she say?"

"..." Liam smiled awkwardly, "Miss Greenwood’s attitude seems very firm."

"Then I can grant her that." Cooper Coldson replied.

Liam was surprised for a moment before standing up, "Alright, now I understand Mr. Coldson’s thoughts; I think I need to meet Miss Greenwood again."

He extended his hand, "Thank you for your time today, Mr. Coldson."

"You’re welcome." Cooper Coldson called his assistant to see the guest out.

May was playing with building blocks nearby; she had been building a tall building. When Cooper Coldson approached, she looked up, "Uncle Coldson doesn’t want to divorce Aunt Yolanda."

Cooper Coldson was taken aback by the child’s revelation, crouching down, "What do you know, you little tyke?"

"I just know." May looked smug.

"Alright, I will have someone take you back." Cooper Coldson patted May’s head but didn’t argue further about what was said.

May spent most of her time at the Greenwood Family house, living with Melissa.

But Cooper Coldson would have someone take her to kindergarten and sometimes bring her to the company.

When May returned to the Greenwood Family home, Melissa was there.

She put down her large school bag and went over, "Mom, the divorce lawyer went to see Uncle Coldson today."

"Divorce lawyer?" Melissa, originally not wanting to engage, immediately pulled the little one closer, "You saw them?"

May nodded, "I was playing nearby while they talked."

"What did they say?" Melissa immediately asked.

"Well, the lawyer auntie asked Uncle Coldson if he wanted a divorce," May pouted, "Uncle Coldson said he didn’t really want a divorce anymore."

"What?" Melissa’s eyes widened, "He said that himself?"

May timidly nodded, "Uncle Coldson also said not to tell mom, he thinks there are better ways to repay."

Craziness gradually filled Melissa’s eyes.

She hadn’t expected that Cooper Coldson had started thinking differently. How despicable, too despicable!
