Chapter 255: Where Was May When Brooks Parker Died

Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Where Was May When Brooks Parker Died

Isabella Ross heard the commotion downstairs and immediately went up to check.

"What are you doing?" She was simply stunned. These two brothers had always been close since childhood, but ever since Noah Coldson left the country, they hadn’t seen each other for nearly a decade, and now they had actually escalated to the point of fighting.

She stepped forward and pulled them apart, "What’s gotten into you both?"

At this point, both of them were battered and bruised. Fighting with Cooper Coldson, Noah’s arm injury hadn’t fully healed, so the two had barely fought to a draw.

Isabella Ross disdainfully glanced at one and then the other, "What in the world happened?"

"It’s nothing; just learning a few moves from my big brother," Cooper wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

Isabella Ross quickly thought of something, "Is it because of Yolanda Greenwood?"

"No!" They both denied in unison.

"Like it’s not." Isabella Ross sighed, shaking her head in frustration with their competitiveness, "The two of you... really are hopeless."

She first pointed at Noah, "So you’ve fallen for that woman, right? Then go after her. Chase her hard. Have the same determination you did when you ran away from home at six. If you still can’t win her over, then give up quickly. It means you two have no fate."

Then she pointed at Cooper, "And you..."

"You’re the most hopeless!" Isabella Ross heard that the two hadn’t officially divorced and was extremely exasperated, "What in the world are you thinking? You want both of them?"

"No." Cooper immediately denied; he had never thought of wanting both. He... he didn’t even know what he wanted to do.

"Figure it out for yourself, whether you want to marry Melissa Greenwood or continue your life with Yolanda," Isabella Ross paused, "but then again, even if you did want to continue with Yolanda, you would have to ask if Yolanda is willing."

She couldn’t stop shaking her head, unable to believe that the girl she had disliked so much had turned her two sons’ lives upside down.

"Alright, alright, clean yourselves up and get some sleep," Isabella Ross stormed off in anger.

The two brothers still looked at each other with distaste and went their separate ways to tend to their wounds.

The next day, Lola Gold took Yolanda to the airport and saw the swelling on Noah’s face, "Big Brother Noah, what happened to you? Did you get into a fight..."

She didn’t finish her sentence before seeing Cooper approaching from a distance, his face just as swollen as Noah’s.

She looked incredulously at Yolanda, "Yolanda, did these brothers fight?"

"I don’t know." Yolanda went up and asked, "Big Brother, what happened to you?"

"It’s nothing, just got bitten by a dog," Noah deliberately said aloud.

Cooper, who had just walked up, shouted with a strained neck, "I got it worse; I was chewed on by a pig."

"You little..." Noah raised his fist, looking ready to continue the fight.

Yolanda hurriedly held him back, "Okay, okay, Big Brother, calm down, don’t stoop to his level."

"Yolanda, are you deaf?" Cooper grew angrier the more he thought about it, "He was the one who provoked me first. What do you mean don’t stoop to my level?"

"Fine, then I’ll apologize on his behalf," Yolanda said helplessly.

"..." Cooper was so angry he could explode.

But Yolanda had no intention of continuing to deal with him and went to meet up with Leah Diaz with Noah.

Cooper, watching their retreating backs, grew even angrier, clearly aware that Yolanda was favoring Noah, and he felt powerless.

"Sister Leah," Yolanda came forward and asked, "you’re leaving now; will Little Wood be alright?"

Leah twisted her lips slightly, "Don’t worry, he should be fine, and besides..."

She let out a long breath, "I’m resigning when I get back. I plan to return to our country, to be with Little Wood and attend to his treatment. The doctor said... he’s showing some signs of autism now."

At this, her eyes reddened.

Seeing Cooper approaching as well, Leah quickly turned to him, "Thank you, President Coldson, for the other day."

She knew it was Cooper and Noah who had helped her retrieve the fifty thousand and that Julian Howard had already signed the divorce papers and agreed to gradually return the fifty thousand to her.

She planned to find a relaxed job back home, earn money while accompanying Little Wood through his treatment.

Cooper snorted through his nose, saying nothing.

Only then did Leah realize that both Noah and Cooper were bruised, and she looked at Yolanda with questioning eyes.

Yolanda shook her head.

As they started boarding, Noah suddenly said, "Yolanda, do you want to switch seats with me? You can sit next to Leah."

"Sure." Yolanda immediately agreed, then asked worriedly, "But what about you... both of you?"

"Don’t worry, we won’t make a scene on the plane," Noah promised.

Yolanda nodded quickly, and they switched places.

This time, Cooper had booked the entire first-class cabin seats again, sitting as far away as possible from Noah.

Both of them exuded a low atmosphere, not speaking the entire journey.

By the time they arrived in the foreign country, it was night. Adam Sterling came to pick them up by car and unexpectedly, no one said goodbye to Cooper.

"Ingrates!" Cooper ground his teeth in frustration.

On the way back to the apartment, Adam briefed them on the situation.

"Brooks Parker did indeed die from an overdose, the autopsy report has come out."

He looked at Noah, "But what’s strange is, the police didn’t find much drugs at his home, which left me rather puzzled."

"May? What about May?" Yolanda asked, voicing her biggest concern, "Where was May when Brooks died?"

"The little girl said she was playing downstairs and only saw Brooks dead when she returned," Adam added, "Although I never saw her myself. The police said she had called Melissa Greenwood on her own initiative, claiming she was her mother, and then Melissa took her away after that."

Yolanda frowned deeply, thought for a moment, and immediately sent Melissa a message.

[Is May with you? I would like to see you both tomorrow.]

Melissa agreed readily, [Sure, send me the location.]

After Melissa hung up, she turned to little May sitting opposite her. At the moment, May was holding a dirty toy retrieved from the apartment, her face sad.

"May, come here, sit by me," Melissa spoke tentatively.

May, well-behaved as ever, clutched her toy and quickly sat down beside Melissa.

Melissa furrowed her brow, then asked softly, "Was May in her room when daddy was taking drugs?"

"No." May shook her head, "I went to play downstairs."

"So, you didn’t see anything?"

"No," May spoke with certainty.

Melissa asked another question, "Did anyone else visit your home that day? Was your dad alone at home?"

"Uh-huh, daddy was at home by himself," May articulated clearly.

Melissa nodded; what May said matched what she had told the police, confirming the child really hadn’t seen anything.

"May, daddy is dead now, he won’t come back. Do you understand?"

"Uh-huh," May pursed her lips.

"Do you want to live with mommy?" Melissa asked another question.

"I do, May likes mommy," May suddenly hugged Melissa’s arm, "Mommy, can you keep me?"
