Chapter 231: Chapter 231 Do You Want a Sexless Marriage?

Yolanda sat on the bed, somewhat dazed and at a loss.

When Leah Diaz came in, she saw Yolanda completely out of sorts, "Yolanda, are you okay? Your complexion looks awful. Do we need to go to the hospital?"

Tears brimmed in Yolanda’s eyes as she turned to Leah, "Sister Leah, will my baby... not be able to be born?"

"How could that happen? Yolanda, don’t think nonsense," Leah comforted her from the side. "Or shall we go to the hospital again?"

Yolanda shook her head, for the doctor had made it very clear today that another visit would be fruitless.

After thinking it over, she decided to lay in bed and focus on nurturing her pregnancy.

As Yolanda lay down, she caught a glimpse of a teddy bear on the headboard, the very one Little May had given her.

In an instant, she was reminded of the bear from her dreams.

"Sister Leah, could you please move that teddy bear to the windowsill?" Yolanda asked, her fear palpable.

"Oh, alright, this little bear is quite cute," Leah moved the bear and checked several times to ensure Yolanda was fine before she left the room.

Downstairs, Brooks Parker had been playing with his phone since he came back and messaged Melissa Greenwood to hurry up and transfer the money.

But Melissa kept making excuses, claiming she hadn’t gathered enough money yet.

"Bitch!" Parker couldn’t help but curse aloud.

Little May flinched at his side; when her father was like this in the past, what followed was him hitting her, and she was terrified.

However, this time, Parker didn’t hit her; he just looked at her and said, "You’d better not grow up heartless like your mother."

After that, he sent another message to Melissa.

Upon seeing this, Little May’s eyes suddenly lit up, "I remember where I’ve seen that man before."

"What man?" Parker asked casually.

"The man who came to see Aunt Yolanda today. I remember where I’ve seen him," Little May pointed at Parker’s phone. "On Mom’s phone."

Parker immediately became alert, "What are you talking about?"

Little May then recounted how Cooper Coldson had come to see Yolanda today and also mentioned seeing the man on Melissa Greenwood’s phone.

Parker thought for a moment and immediately asked Melissa to send over a picture of Coldson.

[What do you want?] Melissa was irritated. [I’ll give you the money I promised, don’t push me!]

[Just send it, and maybe after you do, I’ll give you a surprise], Parker pressed her.

Feeling that a picture couldn’t really harm Coldson, Melissa found one and sent it over.

Parker showed the photo to Little May, "May, look, is this the man?"

"It’s him," Little May pouted, "And he’s mean, May doesn’t like him."

Indeed, it was Cooper!

Parker became excited, pinching Little May’s cheek a little too hard, "That’s Daddy’s good girl."

He then immediately called Melissa.

It took several attempts before Melissa finally answered, speaking in a subdued voice, "Brooks Parker, have you lost your mind? What the hell do you want?"

"I don’t want anything." Parker’s tone was full of mockery.

"Then hang up, I can’t talk right now," Melissa was about to end the call.

"Wait a minute." Parker chuckled, "I have some news that I think will interest you."

"News? What news? Brooks Parker, I’m warning you..." Melissa could barely contain her exasperation.

"It’s related to the woman upstairs." Parker interrupted her.

Yolanda?

Melissa indeed didn’t hang up the phone but asked, "What news?"

Parker laughed heartily, "Melissa Greenwood, Cooper Coldson hasn’t really finished with Yolanda, right? Otherwise, why would you care so much about what happens to Yolanda?"

Melissa didn’t respond.

"Melissa Greenwood, I really despise you. Even back in school, you couldn’t land Coldson, and it’s still the case!" Parker’s words dripped with scorn, "You should just resign yourself to be with someone like me."

Melissa was trembling with rage, but she knew that Parker must have found out something; she had to endure.

"Brother Brooks, what are you trying to say?" She asked, trying to maintain her composure.

Parker snorted, "It’s about Cooper Coldson and Yolanda, and I guarantee you don’t know."

Melissa became even more curious.

Parker went on to say, "When you send me five million first, I’ll tell you then."

This time, before Melissa could speak, he hung up first.

"Damn it!" Melissa cursed under her breath.

About ten minutes later, Parker received a notification for an incoming transfer of five million.

In an instant, his eyes gleamed, and his entire face seemed a bit mad.

Melissa’s call soon followed, "Can you talk now?"

"Melissa Greenwood, you really must cling to this opportunity," Parker started, his voice full of greed, "Whatever help you need, I can offer."

Then he continued, "Today, Cooper Coldson came here looking for Yolanda. It seems like there was some trouble with her child."

"Cooper went there?" Melissa could hardly believe it.

"I have no reason to lie to you. Just now May mentioned a man who came to see Yolanda, so I asked for a photo to confirm, and it really was Cooper."

Parker narrowed his eyes, "Melissa Greenwood, Yolanda’s baby isn’t Coldson’s, is it?"

"Of course not," Melissa immediately denied, but inside she nearly burst with fury.

This morning, Cooper had mentioned he had work and didn’t want her to accompany him—could he really have gone to see Yolanda? How did he know where Yolanda lived?

The more she thought, the more frightened she became—could it be that Cooper had arranged to meet Yolanda a long time ago?

She couldn’t bear it.

"Really not?" Parker obviously didn’t believe her, "You’d better make sure or you might end up empty-handed, leaving Yolanda’s seed to reap the benefits."

Seeing Melissa silent again, Parker taunted, "Don’t forget how much Coldson liked Yolanda back at school."

"Enough!" Melissa roared, "I said it’s not, so it’s not. What’s with all your nonsense?"

"It’s not, then it’s not. What’s the hurry?" Parker feigned injury.

"Alright, I’m hanging up," Melissa ended the call, still shaking.

She calmed herself in the hallway for a good while before changing into other clothes and knocking on Cooper’s door.

They were staying in a hotel, but in different rooms.

Cooper was going over documents and, at the sound of the knock, got up and opened the door, "Melissa? Why aren’t you asleep?"

"Cooper, I’m scared," Melissa’s eyes were red; her nightgown half-open, nearly exposing her chest, as she reached out to embrace Cooper.

Cooper, however, stepped back, keeping a distance as he looked at her, "Melissa, what’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

"Cooper, are you afraid of me? Or do you not want to touch me?" Melissa bit her lip and questioned, "Are we going to have some sort of sexless marriage after we’re wed?"

Cooper didn’t say anything, turning back into his room.

Melissa followed, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind, "Cooper, this is so unfair to me."
