Chapter 229: Chapter 229 Doctor Inquires About Contact with Abortion Pill
"Really?" the little one was overjoyed.
Though young, she knew how well Yolanda Greenwood treated her and had always wanted to give Yolanda a gift.
But she had nothing, and now that someone had prepared a gift for her, she was especially happy.
Seeing her seeming so naive, Melissa Greenwood felt disdain in her heart, but her face showed nothing but admiration, "Of course. Our May is such a good girl."
She tucked the little bear into May’s little backpack, "But May, promise me, this is our secret. If Aunt Yolanda asks, can you say the gift is from May herself? Is that okay?"
May tilted her head, "Why?"
"Because that way, Aunt Yolanda will be really happy, a gift prepared by May herself has more sincerity." Deceiving a two or three-year-old child was a piece of cake for Melissa Greenwood.
Little May quickly agreed.
At last, Melissa Greenwood cautioned May again, "Remember, even Daddy can’t know, okay?"
"Okay." Actually, even if Melissa hadn’t mentioned it, May wasn’t planning to tell Daddy, because Daddy was rather stingy and would definitely not agree with her giving a gift to Aunt Yolanda.
Having accomplished her objective, Melissa Greenwood didn’t want to stay with the father and daughter any longer and soon found an excuse to leave.
Brooks Parker also took May home.
"Daddy," at the doorstep, Little May was a bit impatient, "Can I go upstairs to play for a while, is that okay?"
"Whatever." Brooks Parker was listless and too preoccupied to pay attention to Little May.
May, carrying her little backpack, quickly went upstairs and tiptoed to knock on the door, "Aunt Yolanda, Aunt Leah, are you home?"
Yolanda Greenwood quickly opened the door upon hearing the child’s sweet voice.
"Aunt Yolanda, long time no see, May missed you so much." The little one was especially sweet-mouthed.
Yolanda Greenwood gently pinched Little May’s cheek, "Did May go out to play with Daddy today?"
"Yes, and with Mommy too, we all went out for hamburgers." May was very happy.
Yolanda and Leah Diaz exchanged glances, not expecting that May’s mom was also there.
Leah, curious, asked, "Did Mommy come back with you guys too?"
May shook her head, "No, Mommy went back to her own home, only Daddy and I came back."
Back to her own home?
Leah showed an incredulous expression. Could it be that May’s mother was someone’s wife?
They didn’t ask further, and soon Yolanda took May to her room.
"Aunt Yolanda, I have a gift for you." The little one whispered, pulling out the little bear, "Do you like it, Aunt Yolanda?"
Seeing the little bear, Yolanda was instantly charmed, "Did May buy this herself?"
"Yes." May nodded vehemently, then pulled out another little bear, "These two little bears are very, very good friends."
"Okay, then thank you, May." Yolanda placed the little bear on her bedside table, "Then Aunt Yolanda and Little May are very, very good friends too, okay?"
"Okay." Little May was very happy.
However, that night, Yolanda slept restlessly, feeling some discomfort in her abdomen.
Next morning, she noticed she had had a miscarriage the previous night.
"Hurry to the hospital." Leah, already a mother herself, knew this was no small matter and shouldn’t be delayed.
Thus, she promptly accompanied Yolanda to the hospital.
The doctor asked Yolanda if she had come into contact with any abortion pills.
Yolanda quickly shook her head, "No, I cherish these two children, how could I come into contact with abortion pills?"
"Some pollen can also have that effect." The doctor prescribed medication to prevent miscarriage and advised Yolanda to be careful and preferably rest in bed for a few days.
Back at the apartment, they found May locked inside.
Yolanda took out the keys, opened the door, and let May go upstairs to visit, then urged Leah to go quickly to work.
"No worries, I took the day off already, I’ll stay home and look after you." Leah handed Yolanda 50,000 yuan, feeling somewhat guilty.
"Really, no need, it’s not that serious," Yolanda disagreed and pushed Leah out, "Don’t worry, I have May with me, I’ll call you if needed."
She didn’t want to delay Leah from earning money, that would be truly sinful.
Reluctantly, Leah hurried to the company.
Soon after she sat at her desk, the Design Director, Candy, summoned her for a meeting.
Leah entered the meeting room only to find Cooper Coldson was also there.
Candy briefly explained that designers from Coldson Group were visiting their company to observe their current work environment to help design a new global factory.
Candy had a very important meeting that morning and planned to have Leah show Cooper and the others around.
"Director," Leah followed Candy out of the meeting room, "Why is Cooper here too? My level isn’t suitable to host him, right?"
Candy was also surprised, otherwise, she wouldn’t have arranged other tasks that morning.
"Just lead them for now, I’ll finish my work and join you soon," she arranged temporarily.
"By the way, how’s Yolanda? Nothing serious, I hope?" she asked concernedly.
"She’s alright, probably just tired from that day," Leah watched Candy leave, then steeled herself to return to the meeting room.
"President Coldson, designers, shall we go?" She was clearly a bit tense.
Cooper sat without moving, and the others dared not rise either.
"Just you?" Cooper seemed to ask casually.
"Yes, our director has a very important meeting, she’ll join us after it ends," Leah felt a suffocating pressure being alone with Cooper.
Cooper frowned irritably, "The person who was with you that day, that Yolanda?"
"Yolanda?" Leah wasn’t expecting Cooper to ask about Yolanda, was he here for her?
She didn’t dare to think too much, instantly replied, "Yolanda isn’t feeling well, as you know she’s pregnant, she took a rest at home today."
"Oh." Cooper finally stood up,
But he didn’t seem inclined to follow Leah, instead turning to his team, "You all go with Miss Diaz and take a good look, I’m going back."
Hearing Cooper was leaving, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Today’s situation really didn’t need Cooper to come, they couldn’t understand why he had come along.
Cooper then turned to Leah and quickly left after saying a word.
Exiting Tala company, Cooper didn’t head back to his car, but walked toward the apartment block nearby.
He had followed Yolanda’s car last time and knew she lived on the fourth floor.
Arriving downstairs, Cooper hesitated for a while before slowly ascending the stairs.
He didn’t know why he had come, but thinking of Yolanda being unwell, he wanted to see her.
Reaching the fourth floor, he raised his hand and knocked on the door.
Soon, Little May opened the door from inside, looking up at the tall man and timidly asked, "Uncle, who are you looking for?"
