Chapter 227: Chapter 227: The Bitch Who Steals Men is You, Melissa Greenwood

"It really is a small world when it comes to enemies," Melissa Greenwood sneered, "She didn’t recognize you, did she?"

Brooks Parker nodded, "I don’t think so."

He then sat down beside Melissa, "You, Cooper Coldson, and Yolanda Greenwood. What’s really going on with you three?"

"What could be going on?" Melissa responded nonchalantly, "She’s shameless, not even sparing her own cousin-in-law, the bitch!"

Brooks shook his head, "Melissa, you can fool others with that talk."

"What do you mean by that?" Melissa had a bad feeling, did Brooks know something?

Brooks crossed his legs confidently, "Why did you choose to be with me back then, if not because you had been slighted by Cooper?"

He clicked his tongue twice, "If I remember correctly, Cooper initially loved Yolanda."

Melissa bit her lip but remained silent.

"So from the start, the bitch who steals men," Brooks touched Melissa’s hair, "was you."

"I don’t understand what you’re talking about." Melissa abruptly stood up, "Currently, Cooper is going to marry me. Also, if you still want that five million, you better keep your mouth shut."

"I’ve changed my mind," Brooks swung his feet joyously, "I want ten million."

"Brooks Parker!"

"If you’re not willing," Brooks got more arrogant, "I might as well go see Cooper and tell him when you slept with me and when you had the baby. Let’s see if he still wants to marry you."

Melissa clenched her teeth, "Cooper will kill you."

She glanced at May next to her, "Neither you nor her will survive."

"That’s okay. The three of us can die together." Brooks remained indifferent.

Melissa glared at him fiercely, and after a long moment, she finally capitulated.

She sat back down beside Brooks, "Brother Brooks, you’re a smart man, you know it does no good doing this, and all you want is money. Fortunately, money is what I can easily offer right now."

She took out her phone, and without blinking, transferred one million to Brooks, "Here’s something for you to spend. I’ll send you the ten million within a week."

"Smart move." Brooks pinched Melissa’s cheek hard.

Melissa gave a sultry smile, glancing at May, "About what we just talked about, she won’t gossip, right?"

"Don’t worry, she’s as smart as you, she won’t talk," Brooks smiled.

Melissa turned and beckoned to May, "Come here."

The little one hesitated, remembering her stern appearance just moments before.

"Come here when I tell you to. She’s your mom, is she going to eat you?" Brooks chided discontentedly.

Finally, May hurried over and stood in front of Melissa.

"Are you familiar with the upstairs aunt?"

May nodded, "Both aunts are nice to me, always bringing me food. Aunt Yolanda also tells me bedtime stories."

Such a living Buddha.

Melissa inwardly sneered, stroked May’s head, "May is really brilliant."

She stood up to leave, "Okay, I must get going now. Will visit you another time."

"Not staying tonight?" Brooks eyed her lasciviously.

"No, Cooper should be back." Melissa, as she was leaving, touched May’s head again, "May, behave well, I’ll take you out sometime soon."

May’s eyes brightened with happiness, but she confusedly corrected Melissa, "You’re Mom, not Aunt."

A look of disgust flashed across Melissa’s face, and she left without a word.

She got into her car, immediately made a call, "I’ll hold off on those two for now, wait for my instructions."

After hanging up, she looked towards the fourth floor, a pleased smile curling her lips, then she drove away.

Yolanda Greenwood and Leah Diaz returned upstairs, still discussing.

"May’s mom is pretty mysterious, clearly didn’t want us to see her."

"Yes." Yolanda had also noticed, "Well, whoever it is, it’s none of our business."

"That’s true." Leah was curious, but not insistent, pondered a moment, then added, "But it’s clear she doesn’t want to reveal her relationship with May, probably won’t stick around to live with them either."

"Ah, poor May." Yolanda agreed, nodding.

The next day was a weekend, and both Yolanda and Leah were off work.

From early morning, Leah was glued to her phone, clearly waiting for news.

"Sister Leah, don’t be too anxious." Yolanda remembered that today was Little Wood’s surgery day, "There won’t be any problems."

Leah offered a hollow smile, still tethered to her phone.

At nine, Brooks showed up again, bringing May, "I have to step out, saw you guys at home, thought May could hang out here."

Leah was speechless, "What about the child’s mother? Didn’t she just come back? She left so soon?"

"She still has some things to handle," Brooks only looked at Yolanda, "She will live with us from now on."

Yolanda took May’s hand, smiling, "Okay, you can rest assured, May is in good hands."

Brooks left quickly.

Once inside, May spontaneously began talking about her mother.

"Mom is really beautiful, like a big TV star, and she’s really nice to May, always saying how pretty and well-behaved May is."

Both Yolanda and Leah were taken aback.

"That’s great, and congratulations to May." Leah didn’t pry further, returned to her vigil by the phone.

Yolanda and May watched TV together, Yolanda asked concernedly, "So, would May like to live with her mom?"

May hesitated a bit before looking up to answer, "Yes."

"That’s good then." Although Yolanda found it strange, she didn’t dwell on it; after all, it was someone else’s family matter, and she had no right to interfere.

In the evening, Leah’s phone finally rang.

"How is it? How did Little Wood’s surgery go? Just finished?"

The voice on the other end was impatient, "It finished long ago."

"Why didn’t you call or send a message to let me know it’s safe?" Leah had been worried all day.

The person on the other end exploded, "Do you think it’s all perfect because the surgery’s done? We still need to transfer to the ICU, prepare various things, pay various fees."

"I’m telling you, your two hundred thousand won’t last a few days, Little Wood’s condition isn’t good, the doctor said he needs a ventilator, that’s ten thousand a day, you better start gathering money."

"Ten thousand a day?" Leah felt crushed.

"Yes, what, too much? Don’t want to handle it?" The person began to curse, "Leah Diaz, what kind of mother are you? He’s your own son, are you going to watch him die?"

Leah’s eyes reddened, tears silently fell, "What about you? You’re his father, if it’s ten thousand a day, how much can you contribute?"
