Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Fated But Destined to Love at the Wrong Time

In the afternoon, Cooper came.

Lola Gold and Noah Coldson, as if facing a great enemy, blocked the entrance to the hospital room, not allowing him to enter.

"What are you doing here?" Lola Gold really wanted to curse at him.

Although Cooper had informed Yolanda Greenwood over the phone that Jaxon Greenwood was injured, which didn’t seem to be a big issue, Yolanda’s condition today was definitely largely due to Cooper.

Cooper frowned slightly and looked directly at Noah Coldson, "I need to talk to Yolanda."

"She is in a bad place emotionally right now and can’t handle any stimulation," Noah replied coldly. "Maybe you should just go back..."

"Let him come in," Yolanda’s voice came from inside the room.

Having no choice, Lola Gold and Noah let him in.

The moment Cooper entered, Noah once again sternly cautioned him, "Don’t upset her, I beg you as a brother."

Cooper closed the door of the hospital room.

When he turned around, he saw Yolanda sitting on the hospital bed, pale-faced and completely listless, as if all the life had been drained from her.

He frowned subconsciously, "You don’t need to worry about Jaxon, I will find the best doctor."

"Thank you," Yolanda said softly, "Thank you for calling me then."

"I didn’t know you were pregnant." Cooper’s gaze was intense, as he silently hoped she would say something.

"I don’t blame you, nobody blames you." But Yolanda didn’t mention anything about the baby.

Cooper felt like he couldn’t breathe. It was clear Yolanda no longer cared about him, so what was he still hoping for?

He spoke bluntly about the purpose of his visit today, "Melissa and I are going to hold our wedding ceremony soon, and I hope we can get the divorce procedures sorted out before then."

"Okay," Yolanda agreed without hesitation. "But you see my condition right now. The doctor said I need to stay in bed. Once I’m a bit better, can I contact you then?"

Cooper nodded.

Both fell silent.

After a while, Cooper finally spoke coldly, "Don’t you have anything to say?"

"The child is Noah’s," Yolanda’s demeanor remained indifferent. "This is where I’ve wronged you."

Cooper’s anger flared up instantly, "Yolanda, I don’t care whose child you’re carrying inside you. You indeed wronged me and even more so Melissa."

His words were said through clenched teeth, pointing angrily at Yolanda, "Why did you lie? Why did you say it was you who saved someone back then?"

Yolanda was silent, her hands clutching the blanket tightly.

"Do you realize that because of that incident years ago, Melissa can’t get pregnant, yet you made me doubt her?" Each of Cooper’s words hit Yolanda hard, "That lie of yours was both foolish and malicious."

Yolanda still didn’t speak; she felt like she was becoming an overstretched string, ready to snap at any moment.

Cooper seemed to be saying something else, but Yolanda couldn’t hear clearly anymore; her mind was filled with Eliana Reed and Third Greenwood’s scolding from years back.

She, at four years old, was just like now, lying helplessly on a hospital bed, not understanding what she had done wrong.

"Yolanda?" Cooper felt Yolanda was looking listless, as if unresponsive, and he moved to gently push her, "Yolanda, what’s wrong with you?"

But in the next instant, Yolanda’s body tilted, and she fainted.

How could this happen?

Cooper immediately pressed the call bell beside the bed. Noah and Lola Gold rushed in afterwards.

Seeing Yolanda had passed out, Noah pulled Cooper away from her and shouted at him fiercely, "What did you do?"

Without waiting for Cooper’s reply, Noah gently held Yolanda in his arms, calling her anxiously, "Yolanda? What’s wrong with you? Can you hear me?"

Lola Gold also shoved Cooper, pushing him to the side of the door.

Soon, a group of doctors rushed in and all three were driven out.

Cooper was confused throughout; Yolanda was the one who made a mistake, she was the one who lied, he had only asked a question, so why did she faint just because of that?

"What are you still doing here?" Lola Gold’s tone was harsh when she saw him, "Get the hell out of here!"

Cooper stood still, not moving. The image of Yolanda just now, like a broken doll, elicited an inexplicable fear in him that he couldn’t control.

"Go on!" Lola couldn’t help crying, "Yolanda once liked you and it was her downfall. As long as you’re around, she never has any good days."

"She’s like this now, what more do you want? Do you want to drive her to her death?" By the end, she was crying uncontrollably.

Cooper opened his mouth, but found he couldn’t speak.

"Cooper, just go," Noah also spoke, "You’re not welcome here."

Cooper said with difficulty, "When she wakes up, I’ll leave."

"Even if she wakes up, she doesn’t want to see you," Lola glared at him fiercely.

Cooper chuckled bitterly and nodded. So, to Yolanda, he really was superfluous now.

Indeed, they should have ended things a long time ago.

Him clinging on like this only made him appear even cheaper.

He looked at Noah, "If she wakes up, let me know."

Ultimately, Cooper left dragging his feet behind him.

"Now he pretends to be deep in love? Who cares?" Lola wiped away her tears, "Yolanda was unlucky to have met him."

"It’s okay, he... he didn’t mean for things to be this way," Noah said, but deep down he understood that Cooper wasn’t pretending to be in love; it was beyond his control.

Obviously, Cooper’s love for Yolanda had reached a new height, but they were never meant to be; they loved at the wrong time.

When Yolanda woke up again, Adam Sterling was there.

"Why are you here?" she chuckled bitterly, "I must be such a nuisance."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Adam patted her head, "If we weren’t worried about you, who would bother coming? So, you need to get better quickly, stop worrying us."

Yolanda nodded.

For the rest of the time, Adam stayed with Yolanda while Lola Gold and Noah waited outside.

In the evening, Adam finally came out.

"She’s asleep."

Lola Gold and Noah sighed in relief.

But Adam looked upset, "These next few days, let’s take turns staying with her."

"What do you mean?" Noah understood that Adam was implying something more, "Is it about Yolanda’s illness...?"

Adam took a deep breath, "She has started to show suicidal tendencies; I’m afraid..."

"How could this happen?" Lola Gold instantly covered her mouth, her heart wrenching with pain. Why had this happened?

Her Yolanda was so kind, why was fate so cruel?

Noah was equally devastated, sitting in a chair, powerless, holding his head; he felt so helpless.

"The person who stabbed Jaxon has been caught," Adam finally brought some good news, "He said it was for money."

"How could it be?" Lola couldn’t believe it for a second.

"What do you think?" Adam looked to Noah; Noah’s instincts were usually on point with these things.

Noah frowned, "Tomorrow, you go take a look."
