Chapter 196: Chapter 196 The Child Definitely Can’t Be Saved

Yolanda Greenwood woke up again the next day at noon.

Noah Coldson and Lola Gold had been staying by her bedside, and when she woke up, Noah immediately went to look for Ivy Hall.

"Yolanda, how are you feeling?" Lola quickly wiped away her tears and gently held Yolanda’s hand.

Yolanda stared blankly at the ceiling, as if she hadn’t fully come to yet.

"Yolanda, don’t scare me." Lola’s tears couldn’t be stopped. "Look at me, I’m Lola. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

Yolanda finally blinked, then struggled to get out of bed.

"Yolanda, you can’t move, Dr. Hall said you’re not to get out of bed," Lola was terrified and quickly held her down, but didn’t dare to use too much force.

Yolanda kept struggling. "I need to check on dad."

"Don’t move yet, listen to me..." Lola hesitated before speaking, "Patriarch Greenwood is already out of danger."

"Really?" Yolanda looked at her with red eyes, almost pleading, "Lola, please don’t lie to me, okay?"

She was unable to think clearly at the moment or determine if Lola was telling the truth.

"Yolanda, I’m not lying to you, Patriarch Greenwood really is out of danger, but..."

"But what?" Yolanda clutched Lola’s arm tightly, anxiously waiting for her to continue.

Lola sighed, "But he has been in a coma. However, don’t worry, he could wake up any day now."

Yolanda collapsed back onto the bed, truly drained of all her strength.

"Have the police found anything?" Yolanda asked weakly.

"Not yet," Lola sighed, "but don’t worry, Noah has already had someone look into it; they should find something soon."

Yolanda then fell silent.

"Yolanda?" Lola couldn’t help but feel worried as Yolanda hadn’t asked about the baby since she woke up.

Ivy Hall said if they had arrived even ten minutes later, the baby certainly wouldn’t have survived.

Fortunately, the baby was already over three months old and very strong; even though the chances of Yolanda having a miscarriage were as high as eighty percent, they had managed to save it for now.

"Your baby is doing great," Lola forced a smile and gave a thumbs up.

Yolanda gave no response.

Soon, Noah and Dr. Hall arrived.

Dr. Hall immediately began a thorough check-up on Yolanda.

Lola and Noah waited outside the hospital room.

"I feel like something is not right with Yolanda," Lola said anxiously. "Since she woke up, she hasn’t asked about the baby inside her."

Noah frowned. "Maybe she’s too worried about Patriarch Greenwood?"

"Hopefully," Lola fretted, pacing back and forth.

"Also," Noah said hesitantly, "Cooper already knows that Yolanda is pregnant."

"So what?" Lola scoffed at the mention of Cooper Coldson. "If it wasn’t for him, these two kids wouldn’t keep encountering all these dangers."

Noah was silent for a while before slowly speaking, "I told Cooper...the child is mine."

"What?" Lola’s eyes widened in shock.

Noah nodded.

"Good on you, big brother. I support you," Lola stepped forward and patted his arm, "I think it’s a good idea."

Noah appeared slightly surprised.

"I’ll talk to Yolanda about it later," Lola became more serious, "big brother, I don’t care who ends up being the father, but whoever it is, must treat Yolanda well. That’s the most important thing."

She looked earnestly at Noah, "Big brother, we’ve known each other for a while now, and I trust you."

"Thank you," Noah said sincerely.

"No need to thank me. Just treat Yolanda well, and I’ll support whatever you do," Lola nodded emphatically.

Soon, Dr. Hall came out.

"How is it?" Both approached him anxiously.

Dr. Hall sighed deeply, "The baby is okay for now, but I warn you, she really can’t withstand any stress; if she does, not only the baby might not make it, she might not either, and then you’ll have yourselves to blame."

Lola and Noah both exhaled in relief, yet remained on edge.

In the following days, they would have to take good care of Yolanda.

"By the way, did Adam Sterling return to the camp?" Dr. Hall suddenly asked.

Noah nodded. "Yes, he did. What’s up?"

"I’m not an expert in psychology, but I feel like there’s something wrong with Yolanda," Dr. Hall advised. "If possible, ask him to come visit."

"Okay." Noah nodded. He didn’t have any assignments recently, and Adam was free in the camp too, "I’ll call him in a bit."

After Dr. Hall left, they both entered the hospital room.

Yolanda was half-reclined in bed, her gaze fixed on the window.

It was nearing year-end, and the weather was getting colder, with the small garden outside the hospital looking desolate.

Her expression was blank, her eyes vacant—it really resembled her previous time at the camp.

Lola and Noah exchanged worried glances.

"Yolanda," Lola approached, "do you have something on your mind? It might help to talk about it."

Yolanda diverted her gaze and gave Lola a forced smile, "I’m fine."

She didn’t look fine at all.

"Are you worried about Patriarch Greenwood?" Noah actively inquired, "Don’t worry; I’ve already sent word to the camp; we should find the perpetrator soon."

Yolanda nodded with little energy.

"Yolanda, do you want to go see Patriarch Greenwood?" Lola asked again.

Yolanda shook her head. "Forget it, I know nothing about medicine; I wouldn’t be of any help."

She forced herself to look alert, "I’m fine now. If you have things to do, go ahead; you don’t need to stay here."

"Yolanda," Noah took a deep breath, "there’s something I have to tell you, but you need to promise not to get upset."

Yolanda looked over, her face still unreadable.

"Cooper knows you’re pregnant," Noah said while watching Yolanda’s expression.

Yolanda just slightly furrowed her brow, showing no significant emotional response.

This wasn’t a good sign; Adam had to come over quickly.

"Also, I told Cooper that the child...is mine," Noah quickly told her the rest.

Yet, Yolanda still had minimal reaction.

She just kept her brow furrowed, looking at Noah. "Wouldn’t this affect you, big brother? If word gets out, there would probably be a lot of people speaking ill of you."

"It really doesn’t matter," she forced a smile, "Even if Cooper knew, it wouldn’t matter. Worst comes to worst...we could just not have the child."

"Yolanda, what are you talking about?" Lola bit her lip. "Yolanda, they’ve been part of you for over three months now; how can you..."

Yolanda didn’t speak, turning her head back to the window again.
