Chapter 181: Chapter 181 They Really Ended Things for Good
In the hospital, Lola Gold woke up on the second morning.
Her head was splitting with pain; in fact, every part of her body ached so much that she could barely move, especially her abdomen—it felt as if her internal organs were all torn.
The pain swiftly brought back her memories, causing her whole body to tremble.
"Lola?" Christopher Coldson noticed she was awake and immediately reached out concerningly to take her hand.
Lola Gold quickly dodged, looking at the man in front of her with panic, "Get away from me, don’t come any closer, don’t come any closer!"
She seemed to not recognize anyone.
"Lola, it’s me, I’m Christopher Coldson. Don’t be afraid, I’m going to call the doctor." Christopher had been watching over her all night and immediately went outside to call the doctor.
Lola Gold clutched the blanket tightly over her, and slowly, she began to calm down.
After the doctor came in, he examined her carefully and asked her a few questions.
"It’s nothing serious, there’s no brain damage, just don’t let her get overstimulated for now."
"Okay, thank you, doctor." Christopher Coldson turned to look at Lola Gold again, "Lola, do you want some water? Or are you hungry?"
Lola Gold shook her head, watching Christopher without blinking.
"I’ll get you some water anyway." Christopher Coldson poured a cup of warm water and handed it to Lola Gold.
"Was it you who saved me yesterday?" The muffled voice of Lola Gold rose, "Thank you."
Christopher Coldson reached out to stroke Lola Gold’s head but she dodged away again.
He sighed softly, "Don’t be scared, it’s all over now, that kind of thing won’t happen again in the future."
That kind of thing won’t happen again?
Lola Gold felt that she was more lucid at this moment than ever before; such things had happened more than once—these men were disgusting and vile!
Suddenly, she thought of something and looked at Christopher Coldson, "Why did you suddenly appear?"
"Hmm?" Christopher’s gaze noticeably shifted.
"Have you been near my house all this time?" Lola continued to press, her gaze somewhat frightening.
Christopher quickly looked at her again, feigning nonchalance, "Yes, I’ve been near your house, I saw Ethan Taylor follow you home with my own eyes."
In an instant, Lola Gold clutched the blanket, "So, you saw him barge in through the door as well?"
"Yes." Christopher replied crisply.
Lola Gold’s eyes became red, glaring at him bitterly, "Then why didn’t you stop him immediately? Why wait so long..."
Christopher Coldson frowned impatiently, "I... I wanted you to understand that men out there aren’t good – they won’t let you go if you don’t want them like I would."
Lola Gold’s face was filled with disbelief, feeling her body growing colder by the minute.
"Lola, you’re just too stubborn," Christopher Coldson said assertively, "After this lesson, you should be smarter!"
"A lesson?" Lola Gold laughed bitterly in anger, "Christopher Coldson, if I really had been... do you think I deserved to learn such a lesson?"
"I don’t care." Christopher Coldson’s attitude was condescending, "Lola, what happened yesterday wasn’t your choice, even if something unfortunate did happen, I wouldn’t care."
He reached out with a pitying gesture, "Lola, you have to believe me, I truly like you, and as long as you agree, we can be together."
"Like me? Be together?" Lola Gold felt as if all this was some sort of fantastical tale.
Christopher nodded firmly, "Don’t worry, Sunny has already agreed."
"Sunny Coldson agreed?"
"Yes, all she wants is the status of Mrs. Coldson; as for who I like, who I’m with, she doesn’t care at all."
"Get out!" Lola Gold nearly screamed hysterically, "Get away from me!"
Christopher Coldson and Sunny Coldson were both sick in the head.
"Lola Gold!" Christopher Coldson was clearly angered; he hadn’t expected that even now, Lola Gold would continue to be so ungrateful.
"Get out!" Lola Gold threw the cup of water at him and then picked up a pillow from the bedhead, "Get out, I don’t ever want to see you again!"
"Lola Gold," Christopher Coldson was at his limit, "there’s something I didn’t want to tell you now, but Lola Gold, you don’t have a choice anymore, or shall I say, being with me is your best option."
Lola Gold held the pillow, looking at him uneasily, "What do you mean by that?"
A flicker of reluctance passed through Christopher’s eyes, but soon he steeled his heart.
He felt this was his last chance; if he couldn’t subdue Lola Gold this time, then there might be no hope left between them.
He spoke coldly and quickly, "You can’t bear children anymore."
"What did you say?" Lola Gold’s pillow dropped to the ground.
Christopher Coldson felt a twinge of regret; he regretted not going in sooner, which might have prevented Lola Gold from losing her fertility.
That damn Ethan Taylor had kicked her several times, damaging her uterus.
He stepped forward again, attempting to offer Lola Gold some comfort, "Lola, it doesn’t matter, I don’t care, really, if you like children, we can adopt one, as long as we’re together..."
"Get out!" Lola Gold spoke again, repeating the same words.
"Lola!" Christopher Coldson still didn’t move, "Lola, I truly like you, I truly want to be with you, as long as you’re willing, I can buy you a big house, bring your mother over..."
Lola Gold stopped paying attention to him, turned her back, and lay down.
No matter what Christopher Coldson said, she didn’t speak again.
After a while, Christopher found it pointless and sighed, "Lola, I will leave now, rest well, I’ll come to see you again."
As he reached the door, he turned back and said, "Lola, what I just said still stands, tell me when you’ve thought it through."
After waiting a moment more without any response, Christopher Coldson left.
Upon leaving the hospital, he received a phone call from Noah Coldson.
"Uncle, do you know where Lola Gold is? Her phone is unreachable, and no one’s at her home." Noah stood outside the residence complex; he had just seen many people gossiping, as if someone jumped from a building to commit suicide.
"She’s in the hospital." Christopher briefly explained yesterday’s situation to Noah, "Come and see her, and if possible, bring Yolanda Greenwood along."
After hanging up the phone, Noah immediately went to the hospital.
Entering the room, Lola Gold was sitting up in bed, her gaze fixed out the window.
"Lola..." Noah’s voice was also full of sorrow.
All this time he’d known Lola Gold, he knew she was a good girl; faced with such an ordeal, alas... he didn’t know how to comfort her.
"Big brother?" Lola Gold turned her head, her voice noticeably lifted, "Why are you here?"
Suddenly thinking of something, she asked anxiously, "Is something wrong with Yolanda?"
