Chapter 176: Chapter 176 Is It So Hard to Admit Defeat?

"Lola? Is that really you?" Sunny Coldson’s face lit up with surprise before she turned to the man opposite Lola Gold, "And this is... your boyfriend?"

Ethan Taylor gave a mischievous smile but didn’t bother to explain.

"We’ve finished eating and are about to leave," Lola Gold said, not wanting to stay another second.

"Don’t go," Sunny looked over at the table, "You haven’t eaten much. Actually, it’s perfect, let’s eat together."

She affectionately linked arms with Christopher Coldson, looking up at him, "Christopher, what do you say?"

"Forget it," Christopher Coldson responded coldly, "It’s obvious they’re on a date and don’t want to be disturbed."

He didn’t wait for Sunny to agree and promptly dragged her away.

Despite knowing Lola Gold could start a new relationship, seeing it in person, he realized he was crazed with jealousy.

He feared if he stayed any longer, he’d lose control and do something irrational.

Watching them leave, Ethan’s eyes lit up, "Lola, is that woman a relative of yours? You two look so alike."

"She’s not," Lola sat back down, "Let’s keep eating. We burned a lot of energy at the amusement park so we should eat more."

If they dared to confront her so directly, why should she hide?

Thus, Lola even added two more desserts to their order, eating even more leisurely.

She never expected Christopher to return, especially alone.

As she watched Christopher approach with determined strides, Lola had a bad feeling. She had almost finished eating, so she got up to leave.

"Brother Ethan, let’s go."

"Sure!" Ethan had just risen when a figure stepped to Lola’s side ahead of him.

Christopher grabbed Lola’s hand and said in a low voice, "He’s not right for you."

"What?" Lola shook off his hand, "Are you crazy? Just who do you think you are? Please, get out of my way!"

"Don’t we know each other well enough?" Christopher stepped back, his gaze roaming provocatively over her from head to toe, and then he threatened, "Tell him to get lost!"

"Christopher Coldson!" Lola seethed through her teeth.

"Lola, what’s going on?" Ethan quickly moved to her side, sensing trouble, "Do you need me to call the police?"

Christopher laughed softly, "Sure, call the police."

Ethan felt the challenge, and he was genuinely interested in Lola; after all, such beauty is rare.

He knew if he backed down now, he’d lose all chance.

He could tell Christopher was not someone to mess with, but still stepped protectively in front of Lola, "Sir, whatever your relationship was with her in the past, it’s clear Miss Gold doesn’t wish to be involved with you now, so please step aside."

He guessed Christopher might be Lola’s ex.

"No matter what our relationship was?" Christopher raised an eyebrow at Lola, "Did you tell him?"

"Christopher Coldson!" Lola bit her lip hard, "Shut up!"

In an instant, Christopher understood that Lola hadn’t said anything, and moreover, she didn’t want this man to know.

This answer upset him even more; their past had become a source of shame for Lola.

He kept his anger in check and said in a low voice, "Make him leave!"

Cornered, Lola knew if Ethan learned about her past and then went to her live streams spreading rumors, she wouldn’t be able to face the consequences.

She could only pat Ethan apologetically on the shoulder, "Brother Ethan, please go ahead."

Ethan looked stunned, "Lola? Didn’t you really want to go to the amusement park?"

"Some other time," replied Lola, lowering her head, "I’m not feeling well today, you go ahead."

Ethan clenched his teeth, "Lola, whatever your relationship was with him, I don’t care. As long as you like me now, that’s enough."

Lola was briefly touched but quickly regained her composure, knowing that a man who didn’t care about her past as a lover was nearly impossible to find.

She wanted to forget the past and start anew, but the truth was, her past would follow her for a lifetime.

"Please go," said Lola, turning away and sitting down, defeated.

"Okay, then I’ll wait for your call," said Ethan gently, then added, "Lola, believe in me, I really do like you. I’ll wait for you."

After Ethan left, Lola glared at Christopher fiercely, "Can you leave now?"

To her surprise, Christopher thick-skinnedly sat down opposite her, "You want to go to the amusement park?"

"It’s none of your business!" Lola decided to leave herself, picking up her bag and standing up.

Christopher grabbed her arm, "Lola, don’t be like that. You want to go to the amusement park, I’ll go with you."

"What is wrong with you, Christopher Coldson?" Lola struggled out of his grasp, "Why should I go with you? Let me tell you, anywhere you are, is utterly repulsive to me."

"Lola!" Christopher suddenly looked wounded.

Lola laughed suddenly, "What about Sunny? Does she know you came here? What, didn’t you kneel enough last time?"

"What kneeling?" Christopher frowned, genuinely clueless.

Lola huffed and walked away briskly.

He stood there, repeatedly rubbing the cool ring on his finger with the pad of his index finger, his posture relaxed but his expression was now serious.

He seemed... to really be falling for her.

"How did it go?" Sunny suddenly appeared, "Still not willing to talk to you?"

Christopher laughed softly, "The little girl is hard to please."

He looped an arm around Sunny’s shoulder with a meaningful tone, "But, she just mentioned something about kneeling—do you know what she meant?"

Sunny looked down, her brow twitching, "Kneeling? On a keyboard or a durian? Seems to be slang among the young folks. Seems you have a long way to go."

Christopher chuckled and shook his head.

Ethan didn’t expect to see the same woman from the day again that evening.

"How did you find me?"

Sunny tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Is that important?"

Ethan shrugged, "Not important, just curious."

He leaned in closer, "But, I am more curious, why are you looking for me? What’s your relationship with Lola Gold?"

"My fiancé used to keep Miss Gold as his mistress," said Sunny with a cold voice.

Ethan was surprised as he arched an eyebrow, "Because she looks like a younger version of you?"

Her words clearly hit a raw nerve for Sunny, "You’re mistaken. He just took advantage of the time I was abroad."

"But now you’re back?" Ethan laughed and shook his head, "Is it that hard to admit you’ve lost?"

Sunny clenched her teeth, "Do you think you are going to win? Right now, Lola Gold just wants to marry a simple, honest man, and you... seem to be that poor, honest man."

Ethan’s fist clenched instantly, and his gaze grew icy and intimidating.
