Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Should We Give Big Brother a Chance?
After Yolanda Greenwood returned to her place, she remained restless and uneasy.
"Does she even have the audacity to attempt suicide?" Lola Gold was livid, "I’m going to light a candle for her right now and wish her godspeed."
Seeing that Yolanda didn’t respond, she continued, "Yolanda, there’s nothing to worry about. She definitely won’t commit suicide. It’s probably all just an act, she won’t die, it’s just that..."
Yolanda picked up where she left off, "It’s just that Cooper was called over, probably because she has a plan in place."
Lola only had one feeling in her heart, that loving someone is difficult, especially when there’s always someone nasty trying to steal them.
She shook her head, "It’s early in the morning and here we are, still scheming like in a palace."
"Pfft!" Yolanda burst out laughing.
She recalled the events of the day. "By the way, Lola, what did Christopher Coldson want with you today?"
"What else could he want?" Lola actually laughed out of frustration, "He wanted me to ’cure’ him."
"Cure?" Yolanda was confused.
"Yeah." Lola smirked, "That guy... he’s impotent, hahaha..."
She laughed so hard she was rolling on the sofa.
Just thinking about this former playboy now being helpless made her genuinely delighted.
Yolanda helplessly curved her lips into a smile, then teased Lola, "So, did you cure him?"
"Kind of." Lola’s smile gradually faded, "He said it only works with me and even made me responsible for it, heh, what a dog of a man, utterly disgraceful!"
Yolanda understood, but then curiously asked, "Lola, have you really moved on?"
"I have moved on. I’d rather be with a dog than with him." Lola said there was a top guy recently who wasn’t bad; she had met him a few times before and decided to give it a try.
"That’s good; with a new start, the past will become just that—a past." Yolanda’s face was full of blessings.
"What about you?" Lola hugged Yolanda’s arm caringly, "Why don’t you give big brother a chance?"
"Stop joking, I’ve told you, big brother is only being nice to me out of gratitude." Yolanda sternly warned her, "And you absolutely cannot joke about this when he’s around."
"You know it’s not just a joke." Lola pouted, "Alright, alright, there are plenty of good men out there; we don’t have to cling to the Coldson family."
Unexpectedly, just as they were talking about him, Noah Coldson called at that very moment.
"Yolanda, Melissa Greenwood is out of danger now," Noah informed her as soon as he got the news from Isabella Ross.
"Oh," Yolanda responded.
Lola burst out, "What do you mean ’out of danger’? It would be surprising if she were actually in any danger!"
Noah sighed softly; there seemed to be more he wanted to say but couldn’t.
"Big brother, is Cooper still at the hospital?" Yolanda asked, her heart sinking halfway because she already knew the answer.
"Uh-huh," Noah hesitated.
Cooper had just mentioned over the phone that Melissa was suffering from depression.
Noah decided to go to the hospital first to check on things, "Melissa seems to be in a bad state, holding on to Cooper and not letting go; he can’t just walk away right now."
"Thicker-skinned than a city wall," Lola couldn’t help cursing.
Yolanda shook her head at Lola and then softly told Noah, "Okay, big brother, thank you again for your trouble."
"No worries." Noah wanted to ask how Yolanda’s talk went with Cooper today, but seeing as Yolanda didn’t bring it up, he felt it was impolite to ask.
After a moment of silence, seeing that Yolanda didn’t seem inclined to speak, he hung up.
Yolanda appeared even more downcast, very quiet, and speechless.
"Yolanda," Lola said, worriedly, "it’s still early, let’s watch a movie?"
Yolanda shook her head, "I’m a bit tired, I want to go to sleep first."
"So soon?"
"Yeah." Yolanda got up, dragging herself back to her room.
She really felt exhausted, not wanting to think about anything.
After hanging up the phone, Noah headed straight to the hospital and saw Cooper’s hand still being held by Melissa.
His expression hardened, "Come outside."
Cooper saw that Melissa seemed to be asleep, so he tried to pull his hand away, but she immediately opened her eyes.
Her face filled with panic, "Cooper, where are you going?"
"I’ll be right back, just outside for a bit," Cooper reassured her, covering her with a blanket, "I’m right at the door, call me if you need anything."
Melissa nodded pitifully, pleading softly, "Please come back soon."
Her pitiful expression faded the moment Cooper left; Yolanda thinks she can play with her? She’s still too green!
In the corridor, before Noah could speak, Cooper spoke first.
"What’s going on between you and Yolanda? Is playing me that amusing?"
Noah frowned, "What do you mean?"
"Did you tell Yolanda that I wanted to marry Melissa out of gratitude?"
Noah nodded, "Yes, I did."
"And then Yolanda came running to me, saying that she was the one who rescued me back then, asking me to give up the idea of marrying Melissa?" Cooper advanced a step, staring at Noah aggressively, "What else? What else do you guys want to do?"
"What do you mean by that?" Noah was puzzled.
"It seems like Yolanda wants revenge not just on Melissa but on me too," Cooper thought for a long time; he had mixed up the wedding but then refused to reunite with him, clearly Yolanda was also seeking revenge.
He was such a fool to be played around by them.
Noah finally understood, "You don’t trust what Yolanda and I have said? You think the person who rescued you back then... was Melissa?"
"Of course." Cooper was very certain, "There were not only three of us on the island then, but also Eliana Reed and the Greenwood family."
"Do you also believe Eliana Reed?" Noah nearly laughed it off in exasperation, "Do you know that Eliana Reed and Yolanda..."
He hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Their mother and daughter have always been estranged; they’ve long since broken off relations."
"What about Jaxon Greenwood?" Cooper did not trust Eliana’s words, but as the Patriarch of the Greenwood Family, Jaxon was a respectable principal in the wealthy circles of Gray City.
He didn’t trust Eliana, but he had to trust Jaxon.
"Jaxon Greenwood... after all, he’s Melissa’s father, his words might not be trustworthy either."
Noah was truly angry; he hadn’t expected that revealing the truth with Yolanda would lead to this outcome.
, if in the past he always thought that Yolanda liked his brother, now, he had only one thought: Cooper didn’t deserve it!
Cooper didn’t deserve Yolanda’s affection.
At that time, when Melissa approached Noah to cooperate, misleading Cooper that he and Yolanda were together, Noah struggled.
But now, Noah had finally made up his mind.
"Cooper," he slowly began, "the truth doesn’t matter anymore, what matters is, you don’t trust Yolanda."
"So what?"
The atmosphere between the two was clearly tense and hostile.
