Chapter 146 The Airbag Hit Her Stomach

Chapter 146: Chapter 146 The Airbag Hit Her Stomach

Yolanda Greenwood heard her phone ring just as she was about to go to bed.

She folded back to the sofa and quickly saw the message, forgetting to breathe in an instant.

Because she knew that Cooper Coldson had sent it to the wrong person. The message was meant for Melissa Greenwood. They... were finally getting married.

Yolanda bit her lip, struggling to control her emotions, and finally, with trembling hands, typed four words.

"Congratulations to you both!"

Cooper saw her reply the next morning. He hadn’t realized he’d sent the message to the wrong person, and the mistake was grotesque.

Thinking about what Noah Coldson and Melissa had talked about the day before, he redialed the number.

Yolanda was having breakfast. She answered the phone with some confusion, "Cooper? What’s going on?"

Since she had left Gray City, they hadn’t been in touch.

Cooper, hearing no change in her voice, opened heavily, "Last night’s message, I sent it to the wrong person."

"I know." Yolanda swallowed the food in her mouth hard. Since Cooper didn’t speak, she laughed, "I congratulated you in advance."

"..." Cooper silently gritted his teeth, "Is that sincere?"

"Of course." Yolanda’s tone sounded very light.

"Well, remember to come to the wedding." With that, Cooper hung up.

Yolanda gave a bitter smile towards the phone. She probably wouldn’t attend their wedding.

Her belly was gradually growing. She would have to leave Gray City eventually, and this TaLa International Show was her best opportunity.

She saw Lola Gold coming out with something and asked softly, "Are you using the car today?"

"You’re going out?"

Yolanda nodded, "I need to stop by the office today, some details for the TaLa International Show need to be finalized."

"No problem." Lola sat down to eat, "Do you want me to drive you?"

Yolanda laughed, "You really think you’re a chauffeur? Besides, there will be plenty of opportunities to be a driver in the future."

When her belly got bigger, it would be inconvenient for her to drive.

"The honor is immense."

The two chatted and laughed. Yolanda packed up her things and left the house.

Lola Gold saw her off downstairs, fussing and instructing until Yolanda drove off. Just as she was about to turn back, she saw Christopher Coldson coming from the side.

She frowned disapprovingly, planning to ignore him.

But Christopher was clearly not one to back off easily. He quickly stepped forward, blocking her path.

"Let’s talk!"

Lola found it amusing, "Talk? About what?"

The corner of her eye rose slightly, adding a hint of seduction, "In the past, we could talk about bedroom affairs, but now... Christopher, wake up, we have nothing to discuss."

She strode away.

Christopher grabbed her arm in a flash, "Lola, don’t test my patience."

"Lola..." She was truly speechless, her smile fading, "Christopher, you don’t think you’re the only one with principles, do you? We poor people aren’t even entitled to emotions?"

She shook off his hand forcefully, "Don’t make me dislike you more."

Christopher frowned as he watched Lola walk away, the soft touch of her arm still lingering in his palm. He seemed to realize at that moment that Lola Gold really was different from Sunny Coldson.

Even when Sunny Coldson was angry, she would never say anything to hurt herself; many times, she really did seem more like an older sister to him.

He walked back slowly alone.

He remembered when he was 18 or 19, passionately in love with Sunny Coldson, he too would act foolishly, but the phrase Sunny said most often was, "Christopher, you’re still young. You will understand later; you and I are naturally a perfect match."

Indeed, Christopher Coldson’s mother had died early, and Old Master Coldson at that time was fully dedicated to the Coldson Group. Christopher’s childhood memories were mostly filled with time spent with Sunny.

They ate together, went to school together; Sunny played many roles in his life.

Christopher reached the entrance of the residential complex and looked back. He knew which floor Lola Gold lived on but lacked the courage to go find her.

Actually, Lola was standing by the window, watching Christopher walk away step by step.

Finally, she cursed under her breath, "Why the hell did I fall for such a dog of a man!"

After cursing, she sat despondently on the sofa, her heart inevitably aching.

Meanwhile, Yolanda Greenwood arrived at the company and encountered Brian Taylor, who had intentionally bumped into her last time, right at the entrance.

She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but when Brian saw her, he smirked and turned to leave as if he had been waiting for her on purpose.

Yolanda didn’t have time to think much about it, quickly diving into a busy day.

Meetings, drafting designs, discussing details with the production department... She was so busy she skipped lunch, and what made her more anxious was that she seemed to keep seeing Brian around.

As if... Brian was surveilling her.

Yolanda felt uncomfortable all over and just wanted to finish her work and leave the office as soon as possible.

At four in the afternoon, she finished her last drawing, stretched, and said goodbye to her colleagues, "Sophie Taylor, Roman Rogers, I’m done for the day, heading home now."

"Yolanda, go ahead, hurry up and eat something," Sophie said, shaking her head helplessly at the cooled takeout.

She would be even more worried if she knew Yolanda was pregnant.

"Okay, call me if you need something," Yolanda said, grabbing her things and heading out, only to bump into Brian Taylor at the door again.

Just like in the morning, Brian stood up ready to leave as soon as he saw her.

Yolanda frowned and called out to him, "You’re Brian Taylor, right?"

Brian stopped in his tracks and hesitantly turned around, "Group Leader Greenwood, do you need something from me?"

"You seem pretty idle," Yolanda said with a crooked smile, "I’ve seen you around seven or eight times today."

Brian chuckled awkwardly, "You’ve got the wrong idea, Group Leader Greenwood. It must be fate."

He waved his hand and hurried off, "I’ve got stuff to take care of, let’s meet another time."

Yolanda frowned in confusion and headed straight for the underground parking lot; missing lunch, she indeed felt weak.

Once in her car, she slowly drove out, but just as she was exiting the underground garage, suddenly a large SUV crashed into her.

Yolanda’s eyes widened in shock, dazzled by a series of bright white lights.

The airbag deployed, slamming hard against her abdomen, causing her to sweat coldly from the pain, and she felt warm liquid flowing beneath her.

Yolanda clutched her belly, lying weakly on the airbag, with only one thought in her mind: the baby... her baby had to survive.

In a daze, she saw Melissa Greenwood coming out of the SUV.

Melissa seemed to be crying on the phone, but the look she gave Yolanda was tinged with a smile.

Yolanda finally understood - Brian had indeed been watching her, Melissa had been waiting downstairs all along, just for her to leave.

Using all her strength to keep her eyes open, in the second before she lost consciousness, she saw Cooper Coldson arrive, attending to Melissa’s injuries.

A tear slipped from the corner of Yolanda’s eye, and she finally passed out.
