Chapter 140: Chapter 140 Hanging Out with Sister-In-Law is Inappropriate
Noah Coldson chuckled softly and yanked his collar back into place.
In terms of physical strength, Cooper Coldson was no match for him.
He straightened his clothes, "Cooper, you’re thinking too much. The Coldson Group is so big, what do you expect me to consider for it?"
"You, as a member of the Coldson Family, getting involved with your former sister-in-law, what would people say?" Cooper glared.
"So the Coldson Group means that much to you?" Noah frowned and retorted, "More important than family?"
"Yes!" Cooper’s answer was crisp and straightforward.
"So, after that incident back then, when Yolanda Greenwood shamed the Coldson Family, you’ve held a grudge against her? For this past year, you’ve been scheming to humiliate her?"
Cooper pondered and furrowed his brow, "So what if I have?"
"You’re going to regret it." Noah was almost certain Cooper had come looking for him because he had developed feelings for Yolanda.
"Hah, as I have said, ’regret’ isn’t in my dictionary," Cooper said dismissively, "and Yolanda Greenwood is even less worthy."
Noah couldn’t be bothered to argue and turned to leave.
Cooper grabbed him, "What about the matter I just mentioned? You haven’t agreed to it yet."
"What?"
"Stay away from Yolanda Greenwood, don’t forget who you are, you’re my elder brother, and she’s your former sister-in-law."
Noah smiled, "Cooper, I’ve already given you my answer. The Coldson Group is so big, it won’t make a difference if I’m not there."
Cooper was taken aback; he couldn’t believe it. Was Noah willing to forsake the Coldson Family for Yolanda?
He roared at Noah’s retreating figure, "Noah, you will regret this. That woman isn’t worth it."
Noah returned to the living room and saw Isabella Ross there, who had clearly noticed the discord between the brothers.
"What’s wrong? Did you argue with Cooper?" she asked in a hushed voice.
"It’s nothing." Noah didn’t want to elaborate.
Isabella kept after him, "How about Yolanda? Have you been to see her lately?"
"She’s doing well." Noah headed straight upstairs.
Isabella waited for a while, but when Cooper didn’t return, she puzzledly went to the balcony.
Upon opening the door, she was hit with a stinging smell of smoke.
"Cooper?" she exclaimed in surprise. As far as she knew, Cooper wasn’t a smoker. What was going on?
Seeing someone had come, Cooper quickly extinguished the cigarette and called out dejectedly, "Mom."
"Why have you started smoking?" Isabella approached with concern, "What happened? Is it something to do with the business?"
"Yeah, a few projects haven’t been going well lately," Cooper forced a smile, "but don’t worry, Mom, I can handle it."
Isabella felt a pang of heartache. She had never seen Cooper like this before.
"Cooper, whatever you’re facing, you can tell me, or..." she hedged, "Your elder brother is back in the country, maybe he can help you at the company."
"Forget about it." Cooper gently embraced Isabella, "It’s fine, I’m used to it. As for my elder brother, he wouldn’t want to get involved with the Coldson Group."
The thought of Noah’s intention to leave the Coldson Family made him feel even more sorry for Isabella.
"You’ve been through a lot." Isabella knew it was futile. She couldn’t control Noah when he was six, and now it was even less likely.
The mother and son chatted for a while, and after Cooper reassured her multiple times that he wouldn’t smoke again, he went upstairs to his room.
In truth, since the divorce from Melissa Greenwood, he seldom came back here.
In the past, due to the old man’s insistence, he and Melissa lived together in the family estate, so this place was filled with their memories.
Now that Melissa had left, even taking all her possessions with her, he felt uncomfortable and was reluctant to return.
He thought of the pajamas Yolanda Greenwood had left in the wardrobe, so he opened the wardrobe, only to find that the pajamas were gone.
Cooper Coldson immediately returned to the living room and found Isabella Ross, "Mom, did you move something in our room?"
Our room?
Isabella Ross was startled for a moment before she realized that Cooper was referring to the room he shared with Yolanda Greenwood.
She stood up and said, "No, what’s up? Did you lose something?"
Cooper turned to look for the cleaning lady, but then he heard Isabella Ross speak from behind him.
"Right, Melissa came over a few days ago, and since you two are getting married soon, I let her sleep in that room."
Cooper stopped in his tracks. This time he was almost certain that Melissa Greenwood had thrown away the pajamas.
He sighed quietly, and as he passed by Isabella Ross, he said coldly, "From now on, please arrange a different room for Melissa Greenwood. That room is not to be occupied by anyone else."
Isabella Ross found it odd, "Why? You really like that room, don’t you?"
She thought Cooper wanted to move into another room with Melissa Greenwood.
Cooper did not answer her and silently went upstairs.
It took a while for Isabella Ross to realize what Cooper meant; he did not want Melissa Greenwood to sleep in the room he had shared with Yolanda Greenwood. But why?
She found it even more strange. Didn’t this young man like Melissa? Didn’t he like Yolanda?
Cooper went back to his room and just the thought of the bed having been slept in by Melissa Greenwood made him feel uncomfortable. In the end, he simply decided to sleep on the sofa.
But still, he tossed and turned and couldn’t fall asleep.
After midnight, he eventually gave up the struggle and quietly left the villa.
Cooper remembered that the household trash was all thrown at the community’s waste station, and he wanted to try his luck to see if he could find the pajamas.
As for why he was so persistent about finding the pajamas, he neither thought about it nor wanted to think about it.
The garbage station was foul-smelling, a place he had never set foot before.
He pinched his nose and, putting on gloves, rummaged through the refuse for an hour and actually found the pajamas.
Cooper unconsciously revealed, what was the first smile he had shown since divorcing Yolanda Greenwood.
He brought the pajamas back to the villa, back to his room, only to realize they were dirty and smelly.
"Just like that woman, such a nuisance," Cooper went and washed the clothes by hand before hanging them outside the bathroom.
By the time all this was done, it was already two o’clock in the morning.
He lay on the sofa, planning how he would settle the score when he returned the pajamas to Yolanda Greenwood.
After returning to Gray City, Yolanda Greenwood rested at home for two days before heading to Baruy.
Previously, she had arranged with the company to work from home and then come into the office for necessary meetings. Now, she was unexpectedly back, which made her colleagues very happy.
With the year-end approaching, the company was about to participate in a significant industry show, and President Ken personally assigned Yolanda Greenwood to take charge.
Yolanda Greenwood got together with Sophie Taylor and others for a meeting, discussed the style, and then went about their tasks.
In the afternoon, Ken called Yolanda Greenwood over again.
He placed an invitation in front of Yolanda Greenwood, "Interested?"
Yolanda Greenwood glanced at the cover and her eyes lit up immediately, "TaLa’s international show?"
Ken nodded, "One month’s time, three to four finished pieces, can you handle it?"
"Yes," Yolanda Greenwood was overjoyed.
Holding the invitation, she walked happily towards her office.
Suddenly, a person darted out from around the corner of the hallway and bumped forcefully into Yolanda Greenwood’s stomach.
