Chapter 113: Chapter 113 You Should Know I’m the Lowly One
Yolanda Greenwood and Lola Gold sat in the car, neither of them speaking anymore, both seeming to have a lot on their minds.
Yolanda worried that Christopher Coldson would cause trouble for Lola Gold, and another concern had also occurred to her: why had Cooper Coldson shown up at the Women’s Maternity Hospital’s entrance?
Could it be that Melissa Greenwood had some issues?
Without realizing it, she gently placed her hand on her lower abdomen, forcing herself not to overthink but still couldn’t help feeling sad.
Lola kept staring out the window. What would happen if Cooper had really told Christopher?
Maybe nothing at all would happen. After all, Christopher was getting engaged to that woman today, and she, the stand-in, had been out of the picture long ago.
Soon after they returned home, Christopher sent a message on WeChat.
"Come downstairs."
When Lola saw the message, she was startled; her hands trembled.
She forced herself to calm down, put the phone aside, and didn’t reply to Christopher.
It wasn’t long before a second message arrived. Christopher had never had much patience for her, the stand-in.
"Don’t make me come up!"
Lola thought for a moment; Christopher probably didn’t know she had moved.
She cautiously approached the window to look, and to her surprise, there was Christopher downstairs, leaning against his car and fiddling with his phone.
He had actually found her!
She quickly realized that it must have been Cooper who told him.
There was no choice; she had to go downstairs, or else, if Christopher lost his temper, he might scare both Yolanda and the baby inside her.
Lola began to gather her things.
"Lola," Yolanda saw her getting ready to leave, "are you going out?"
"Yes, I have an appointment, and I’m running late." Lola hurriedly left, not giving Yolanda the chance to ask more.
Descending the stairs, she looked at the man from a distance. Although they had not seen each other for only a few days, she felt a strangeness as if centuries had passed.
She took a deep breath and walked up to him, "Mr. Coldson..."
Christopher looked up and frowned immediately, "Why are you wearing makeup?"
When Lola was with him before, she never wore makeup. It made it easier for him to kiss and bite her; he said he hated the taste of cosmetics.
But Lola remembered distinctly; Sunny Coldson’s makeup was always exquisite. Apparently, the so-called hate was only for her, the stand-in.
"Is there a problem?" She ignored Christopher’s question.
Christopher put away his phone, seemingly indifferent, and asked, "Why did you go to the Women’s Maternity Hospital?"
"To get an abortion!" Lola answered nonchalantly.
Christopher clenched his teeth in an instant, "Lola Gold, don’t play games with me. I always used protection, where would you get the fetus from?"
"Heh..." Lola let out a light laugh, "Mr. Coldson is quite interesting, isn’t he? Did I ever say that this child had anything to do with you? Aren’t you taking yourself too seriously?"
"Lola Gold!" Christopher’s eyes were already bloodshot.
"Is there anything else? If there’s nothing else, I need to go. I’m in a hurry." Lola stepped away, intending to leave.
But Christopher grabbed her arm in one swift motion, "Lola Gold, stop playing these games with me."
Lola shook off his grip forcefully, "I don’t have time to play with you."
She scoffed, "Christopher Coldson, you don’t still think that I want to remain chaste for you, do you?"
Christopher’s eyes looked like they were about to spit fire as he spoke sarcastically, "Are you that cheap? That desperate to find a man?"
Lola Gold felt an arrow pierce her heart, and for a moment, she could barely breathe.
She strained her eyes, trying to get a clear view of the man before her, but found she couldn’t see clearly.
"Yeah!" she heard herself say, "From the day I slept with you, you should have known that I am... cheap!"
"Slap!" Christopher Coldson slapped her across the face.
Lola Gold looked at him in disbelief.
Without saying a word, Christopher Coldson grabbed Lola Gold’s arm and dragged her into the car.
"What are you doing?" Lola Gold saw Christopher locking the car door.
Christopher started the car.
"Let me out!" Lola Gold thought Christopher had lost his mind.
Unmoved, Christopher drove swiftly out of the neighborhood and onto the open road.
"Christopher Coldson, stop the car! I want to get out!" Lola Gold yelled, and seeing that he was unmoved, she immediately went to hit him, "Let me out, where are you taking me? I’m no longer your lover..."
Christopher turned his head to look at her, "If you want to die with me, keep making a scene."
"Crazy!" Lola Gold couldn’t help but curse him and finally resigned herself to silence.
She sat there without a word, holding back her tears as they fell one by one.
Christopher glanced at her again, "Why are you crying? I’m not going to sell you."
Lola Gold glared at him.
"Did you really go get an abortion?" Christopher asked again, his voice devoid of emotion.
"None of your business." Lola Gold fiercely wiped away her tears and turned to look out the window.
"Show me your medical record book, then I’ll believe you," Christopher suddenly said with confidence.
He knew the woman next to him all too well, she wouldn’t have other men, at least not in the short term.
Lola Gold didn’t respond; she obviously didn’t have a medical record book. She was somewhat worried that Christopher would investigate further.
After all, Christopher wasn’t Noah; if he found out Yolanda Greenwood was pregnant, Lola had no doubt that he would immediately tell Cooper Coldson, that jerk.
The two of them were in cahoots.
After thinking for a bit, she finally spoke, "I’m not pregnant. I just felt a bit unwell and went for a check-up."
She didn’t give Christopher the chance to continue questioning and immediately added, "Luckily, I’m not pregnant."
"How so?" Christopher’s voice carried a hint of laughter, sounding very pleased, "Is having my child such a loss?"
"Christopher Coldson, have you forgotten that you’re getting engaged today?" Lola Gold found it amusing, "Or do you think you can keep the red flag at home flying while the colored flags wave outside, and Lola Gold will carry your child as your concubine?"
Christopher Coldson curled his lips, "Even as a concubine, I wouldn’t mistreat you."
"Sick!" Lola Gold looked forward, and suddenly, her eyes widened in shock. Christopher had brought her to the Empire Grand Hotel.
Wasn’t this the hotel where their engagement banquet was being held?
She looked at Christopher Coldson, puzzled, "What on earth are you trying to do?"
"Don’t you want to see what my engagement banquet looks like?" Christopher parked the car in the underground garage and unlocked the doors.
"No, I don’t." Lola Gold answered decisively.
Christopher got out of the car first and opened the door on Lola’s side, "Get out."
Lola Gold gripped the safety belt tightly, her face showing defiance, "I said I don’t want to, Christopher Coldson, what on earth are you trying to do?"
She really couldn’t understand and asked him with red eyes, "You want it to end, you want to marry your old flame, and I’m okay with that. I haven’t clung to you, nor have I harassed your goddess; why bring me here? I’ve given up, I don’t need to see the sweet scenes between you two, can you just let me go?"
