Earth's Alpha Prime -
Chapter 353: Global Deterrence (2/2)
Meanwhile, within the car, Jay looked down at the sleek, futuristic helmet resting in his hands.
He finally asked, "Anyway… why do we even need this VR helmet? I could just register everyone on the planet directly into the game. As long as they accept, they could enter just by thinking about it."
Qew rolled her eyes. "First of all, it's not just a VR helmet. It has a name now: Neurodrift Helmet. Secondly, if people could just think their way into a game, it'd sound less like advanced tech and more like divine intervention."
She leaned back slightly, "The ability to convert in-game earnings into real-world currency or even use it to buy S.E.E.D. tech products would make the world question everything.
People would start digging, and before long, they'd realize we're behind it. Once that connection reaches F.U.T.U.R.E. Conglomerate and Nav-Yuga, everything we've built will get flooded with pressure from all sides."
She paused, then added, "I already had MJ run simulations on said scenario. It caused panic, suspicion, political interference, and targeted crackdowns by dozens of governments."
Jay nodded, understanding her reasoning. He had already guessed as much, but he asked anyway.
Things were different now.
Back when they came up with the plan to launch Alter Reality, Jay was cautious and always planned with contingencies in mind.
But since then, his strength had exponentially grown. He wasn't just stronger in terms of raw power, even his vision for the future had undergone massive changes. He no longer feared the underhanded tricks of shadow organizations or global governments. He didn't need to.
Ever since learning the grand scale of OMNOS, the grand system that governed life itself, and the unknown enemies involved, Jay's perspective had shifted, even without him fully noticing.
Compared to the responsibility of being the Orpheus Successor and the dangers that came with it, everything else started to feel smaller.
Even the universe they lived in, the Zion Universe, seemed less significant. A backwater life planet that hadn't even assimilated with the System felt almost meaningless in the larger picture.
Nothing on Earth felt dangerous anymore. Not politicians. Not militaries. Not corporations.
It was only in that moment that Jay truly understood how much his perspective had expanded beyond Earth's scope. But that confidence wasn't baseless.
He had grown strong enough to take on entire armies by himself. Now, he could easily outmaneuver and outspeed even the fastest fighter jets, take a direct hit from a ballistic missile without a scratch, and crush war tanks with raw strength.
The only threats that still posed a danger to him were nuclear warheads and other equivalents like hydrogen bombs.
But Jay no longer had to worry about them. He had already taken care of them all. There were certain pieces of information he kept hidden from Kay, Qew, and even the rest of his family.
The introduction of a revolutionary technology couldn't be monopolized without absolute power.
Even the globally recognized F.U.T.U.R.E Conglomerate faced massive backlash and pressure from governments and major global players.
No matter how hard they tried to reverse-engineer the new power source, they failed. That was expected, as there was only so much they could do without the ability to control Spirit Energy.
Even after System Assimilation, reaching high enough mastery in Spirit Energy Engineering would take time. It would be a long while before anyone could produce products of such standards.
With no success in that area, they resorted to numerous underhanded tactics. From attempts to crash F.U.T.U.R.E's stock to corporate espionage aimed at uncovering the secrets of the S.E.E.D. technology, they tried everything.
But no matter what they did, they couldn't find anything useful about the new technology, not even the top brass of that Conglomerate.
What they did learn, though, was that everything was led by Olivia and a few teams she secretly assigned to handle the S.E.E.D tech products. At least, that was the excuse Olivia gave to hide the fact that it was actually MJ who handled the entire mass production on his own.
Once they discovered that Olivia was behind it all, she became a target. Competitors and powerful organizations began coming after her, and the only family she had left, her grandmother.
But before Olivia had to act, Sergei stepped in and dealt with them quickly and without mercy.
Governments around the world also tried to put pressure on F.U.T.U.R.E Conglomerate. They issued sanctions and increased tax tariffs, hoping to force them into revealing the secrets behind the new tech.
But things didn't go as planned. In fact, what happened next was far worse than they ever expected.
Suddenly, they lost control over all their satellites. Continental and ballistic missiles, including nuclear warheads that were digitally controlled, were taken over by an unknown entity calling itself 'The Great Venerable'.
The entity threatened to launch those weapons on their own countries if they ever tried to interfere with F.U.T.U.R.E Conglomerate or any of its partners again.
With their own weapons turned against them, the governments backed off. Not only did they withdraw all sanctions, but they also offered better tax benefits to avoid angering the mysterious group backing F.U.T.U.R.E Conglomerate.
After that, there were no more obstacles. The S.E.E.D tech products spread openly and took over the global market, with no one daring to stop them.
Jay chose not to reveal the measures he had taken to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted spread of the new technology.
Unlike his brother, Jay had no problem enforcing heavy-handed measures to deal with problems right from the start.
He could have shared it with Qew, since she was similar to him in that regard and didn't mind, as long as it didn't affect her family or loved ones.
If she had the same power and reach as Jay, she might have done the same thing.
The only reason he kept it to himself was to make sure Qew didn't grow complacent with her training or become too relaxed after learning how strong he had become, strong enough that he no longer feared anyone on Earth.
Right as those thought passed through his mind, MJ appeared beside him and said, "Master, your friend's flight just landed. He'll be arriving soon."
Jay's eyes lit up at the mention of his closest friend, Rownak.
He and his siblings had come to the airport to pick him up and head out. Only seven hours remained before the rest period ended and Day 30 began, kicking off the Final Tournament.
Jay still had a few things to take care of before then.
