Chapter 352: Global Deterrence (1/2)

Day-29 Rest Period, 4:50 PM…

The car was parked just outside the airport driveway, basking in the soft orange hues of the setting sun. The city skyline was faint in the distance as vehicles moved by at a steady pace.

Inside the car, Jay sat quietly in the back passenger seat, a sleek VR helmet still resting on his head.

The helmet was black matte, streaked with grey, and covered most of his face. Intricate, root-like patterns ran along its surface, giving it a futuristic look.

The inner padding seemed almost organic. It was designed to mold perfectly to the wearer's head, offering both comfort and complete immersion.

Qew, seated beside him, waited silently. Her gaze moved between Jay's unreadable expression and Kay, who sat in the back seat, anticipation clear on her face.

Before long, Jay pulled off the helmet and set it on his lap. He took a deep breath, then smiled wide.

"You really outdid yourself, Sister. Alter Reality turned out great. The survival rate jumped to 91%. That's a solid 10% improvement."

Qew folded her arms, soaking in the praise. A smug smile spread across her face.

Then Kay leaned forward and said, "Everything's great… but the in-game currency name, KENTOS?

Feels kind of odd. Or is there some hidden meaning behind it?"

Qew shrugged, "Nothing in particular. Just came up with it on the spot."

"What? You want to change it?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

The look on her face said it all: Don't even think about it.

Kay chuckled and raised his hands in surrender.

"Nah, I'm good. I'm just glad this can save a lot of lives."

Jay glanced at Kay, his expression softening.

Kay's face was lit with joy, genuine happiness from knowing the game could make a real difference.

Over the past 19 days, ever since S.E.E.D. Technology was introduced to the world under the banner of the F.U.T.U.R.E Conglomerate, with Nav-Yuga as its official representative in India, things had become extremely busy.

Nav-Yuga Enterprises had expanded rapidly, establishing branches across major cities in India within days. And that growth was only accelerating, thanks to the unprecedented demand for S.E.E.D. tech products.

Once the System begins assimilating with Earth, every device powered by conventional power sources would stop working. That includes electrical grids, fossil-fuel engines, gas turbines, and even nuclear reactors.

Every car, every airplane, every light switch will stop working. Hospitals, power plants, data centers, and communication towers will all fail. Humanity's entire technological foundation will collapse overnight, and civilization will be thrown into turmoil.

There will be blackouts, mass transportation shutdowns, food supply disruptions, and life-support systems failing.

The world will face a total loss of digital infrastructure, leading to widespread panic. And within days, order will collapse as governments struggle to respond and people are left to fend for themselves.

That was why S.E.E.D; Spirit Energy Engineered Devices, had been launched as early as Day-10 itself. Unlike traditional machines, S.E.E.D. products were powered by Spirit Energy, and would remain unaffected after System's assimilation.

The rollout began with daily essentials: televisions, washing machines, air conditioners, fans, refrigerators, lighting systems, and household inverters.

All of these devices are at least half a century ahead in technology, and more importantly, they were affordable. Ridiculously affordable.

The pricing was set abysmally low, and every product outclassed its competitors in both performance and features. Consumers didn't even think twice before switching over.

To top it off, existing appliances could be exchanged for SEED-tech versions at half price, triggering a global buying frenzy.

In less than a month, the technology had already been dubbed the Fourth Industrial Revolution; following steam, electricity, and the internet.

Sales skyrocketed as the technology became more mainstream. Not just in a few countries, but across the entire world.

Behind the scenes, Jay had MJ establish deep underground production bases in every country. These facilities, hidden far below the surface, served as manufacturing hubs, fully operated by MJ's Quantum AIs, capable of handling mass production without human input.

And because Spirit Engineering required significantly fewer raw materials, most Earth-based minerals were sourced directly from beneath each region using automated sub-surface extractors, bypassing the need for global trade or resource mining.

However, there was one core ingredient that couldn't be skipped: Spirit Crystals.

These crystals, dropped from monsters upon defeat, were the primary energy source for S.E.E.D. devices.

To meet global demand, Jay invested a staggering amount of Spirit Crystals, enough to power the Earth's civilian technology for years to come.

The amount he supplied would take Earth's population more than a full year to gather through monster hunts after assimilation.

Only later would people come to understand how unreal the prices truly were. How the luxury of convenience had been handed to them on a platter.

But that was a story for another day.
