Chapter 745 - 745: Crossing the pond Part 3

Luna rushed in to check up on Uriel and the first thing she did was to smell him suspecting he might have been poisoned. She then took her pulse and opened his eyelids to examine his pupils with a flashlight.

"He's just asleep." Luna informed without showing concern or relief in her accustomed aloof face.

"You don't say." Nika facepalmed as Uriel was snoring loudly enough for everyone to know it already.

"I just said it." Luna replied unblinking.

"Why isn't he waking up?" Nika insisted.

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe he's just tired." Although Luna's reply may have seemed obvious, it was actually helpful as it reminded Nika that she was able to check on Uriel's energy level by taking a peek on his smartphone.

She hesitated a few seconds before melting with his shadow, but did so anyway since she was worried about his safety. It wasn't rare for him to sleep whenever he had the chance, but he would always wake up at the first attempt.

It had been a long while since the last time Nika entered the museum and it had changed so much she could barely recognize it. She knew Uriel was able to spend trites to renovate the museum, but it still took her a while to orient herself and find the pre apocaliptic era exhibition since the changes had been drastic.

The entire museum now looked modern, but it didn't look any less imposing than the first time she visited. The huge doors seemingly made for creatures far larger than a human were always uncanny, but they were nothing compared to the contents of the museum itself.

On top of the usual artifacts there were dozens of mummies on every room. Said mummies appeared once Uriel drained the souls of those trapped in the book of the dead and despite them looking frightsome, it wasn't like they were able to move or do anything on their own.

Despite that, Nika hated mummies or anything related to the afterlife and it took all of her courage to step inside the pre apocalyptic era exhibition.

There was the hulking mass of Shaker's mummy whose body frame was easy to spot in between the several lean mummies by his side.

"And to think they were all people once... and Uriel killed them all." Nika gasped before reaching for the smartphone, confirming it wasn't low on battery.

"Nika!" Uriel's ethereal presence shouted from behind the huntress who covered her mouth as though trying to stop her heart from escaping her body.

"Don't do that!" She said still bristling like a scared cat.

"What is going on? I can't get out of my trait!" Uriel's voice echoed.

"That's what I came here to figure out. You're asleep in the outside and the ship is losing altitude."

"Did you ask Luna?"

"She says it's not poison and it can't be a cryptid also because she turned on a flashlight."

"Of course it's not poison, I went to sleep right after the battle and it's not a cryptid either because there's no FOD," Uriel growled in exasperation then composed himself and continued. "listen very careful Nika. I want you to go out and tell everyone I'm just asleep and everything's fine. Then check each and every single passenger on this ship."

"Do you think it's a trait?"

"It's the only possible explanation." Uriel replied.

Nika did as Uriel asked and calmed everyone down telling them he was just asleep. Her first suspects were the Defenders since she didn't know their traits or their faces, but there was nothing she could do to prove them guilty without causing trouble. She also thought that since they were in good terms they had nothing to gain by putting him to sleep and she decided to check on the crew members.

The ship was so small that she needed to merge with the shadows inside the ship to spy on them and to do so without raising suspicions she entered the bathroom.

All the crew members were hunters, but none of them seemed particularly strong except for the captain and the first mate who were the only heavenly rank hunters. Suspecting them would have been easy, but they both kept busy the entire time flying the ship which immediately ruled them out.

The other members of the crew had some downtime in between their tasks and they took breaks whenever the first mate wasn't nagging them, which meant it had to be one of them.

Unfortunately to Nika, watching them was a very time consuming task and she spent way more flux energy that she should have, rendering him unable to continue her task and causing Uriel to pay the price of her recklessness.

"Sorry, I got nothing." She said once she went back into the museum, now confirming Uriel's battery had dropped dangerously low.

"Then tell Luna to investigate, she might have a clue." Uriel said, trying his best not to snap at Nika for wasting so much energy. Despite Uriel's rush, Nika didn't move and became pale.

"There's a small problem." Nika uttered.

"Nika, are you asleep in there? I need to use the bathroom." Luna said as she knocked insistently on the door and when Nika failed to reply, she barged into the bathroom finding Nika sitting on the toilet with her eyes closed and snoring loudly.

Luna repeatedly attempted to wake her up, but then gave up and just pushed her out of the bathroom to do her urgent business and only after thoroughly washing her hands did Luna run back to the dormitory carrying Nika on her back.

She closed the door and took a few seconds to look at each and every hunter present before speaking the most terrifying words anyone crossing the Atlantic could have possibly heard.

"We are in trouble," After uttering those words Luna explained the situation. "one hunter that falls asleep and can't be woken up can be nothing, but if the same happens to another then it can't be a coincidence. I want everyone inside this room to disclose their traits and identities, refusal to cooperate will be taken as proof to being guilty."
