Chapter 726 - 726: Behind closed doors Part 3

Nika and Luna were stunned in place as their minds spun faster than the earth itself. Making sense of what they just witnessed was simply impossible even for the genius level doctor and the kinky bodyguard. Even more impossible for them was to fathom the reason why Uriel expected them to apologize, despite them looking for his best interest.

"Do you really want me to spell it out for you? We were training and you almost ruined everything."

"That's some outfit for training." Nika scoffed.

"I just happened to have this dress in my wardrobe. It's been sitting in there gathering dust for so long I thought of trying it on once more. Uriel said he didn't mind it." Elara said.

"I can't believe you betrayed me like this." Luna blurted out.

"Wait, I can explain..." Uriel said.

"Can you, though?" Nika looked him with disbelief.

"Do you remember the skill I used with Sam? I had no clue what did it do to him and I wanted to put it to the test. She offered to train me and to let me use any skill I wanted on her."

"Why her? Why not with me? I can't say I'm into that kind of stuff, but I'm willing to give it a try."

"Because, you wouldn't be able to take it, dear. I'm not just a heavenly rank huntress, I'm also a werewolf which means I have innate regenerative abilities. I can regenerate a lost limb within a day without a drop of serum." Elara explained, then it was Uriel's turn.

"Apparently, my skill returns all the wounds and pain anyone caused me. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's actually stronger than I expected. If it wasn't for Elara's regeneration she could have died."

"And you really think I couldn't take it even with my shadow armor?" Nika furrowed her brows.

"That's the thing, his skill isn't affected by physical barriers. That means your shadow armor would work too well or not at all." Elara said.

"And that would be counter productive, especially considering how dangerous it is. For instance, if I receive ten punches during a fight, I can then activate my skill and return the wounds and pain, but there's a catch. The ten blows I received in the span of a minute will be returned in just an instant."

"And the damage adds up... I see."

"I'm still waiting for you to explain." Luna said in a monotone.

"I think he just did. They weren't doing the 'deed'." Nika chuckled.

"No, this is worse. My mother refused to train me and then went behind my back trained Uriel who, in turn, decided it was fine to play house with her right in front of me. I know I'm not expressive enough, so let me be clear. I would have preferred to catch you having sex than training.

At least that is a natural impulse, but what you did was the conscious decision to cast me to the side out of selfish reasons." Luna explainer her reasoning in a calm voice, which made her anger even scarier.

"Now that I think about it, I've been your sparring partner since our first fight and I'm offended you didn't come to me to try out your skill."

"Bad Uriel." Luna said.

"Hang on, how am I wrong? I'm only trying to become stronger to protect you guys. About you, Nika, I didn't want to put you in danger."

"That's very sweet, but do I look like I need someone to protect me?" Nika scoffed.

"Actually..." Elara started speaking but both Nika and Luna glared at her so hard she seemingly shrunk.

"You do, Nika, the same applies to you Luna and also to myself or did you forget about the titan rank cryptid? There was nothing we could do against it, just survive long enough to run away."

"Uhm... that's obvious. You can't defeat a titan." Luna rebuked, but Uriel wasn't having it.

"Says who?" Uriel's eyes glinted in the dimly lit room as he could barely contain his anger.

"It's common sense." Luna insisted.

"Well, I don't like common sense. Common sense says a slum dweller will die poor and end in the gutter, common sense says an evolved will die when fighting an entity rank cryptid and more bull like that. We've stood against powerful enemies where we had no chance of winning, yet we emerged victorious.

I don't care if I have to become a hitman or let your perverted mother whip my ass, if that means getting stronger then I'm up for it. Heck, I wouldn't have refused if she asked me to wear a matching attire."

"You would have?" Asked Elara.

"Shut up." Uriel glared at the woman.

"But this is my room..." She pouted.

"I don't see the need for any of this. Your insight in archaeology has proven to be more than useful in the past, yet now you want to become a powerful hunter?" Luna asked.

"Not to mention that it's not the fact that you're getting stronger that bothers us. It's that you're leaving us behind." Nika added.

"I'm leaving you behind? Don't make me laugh. You left me by myself for months without so much as a goodbye note and now you want to play the team card. Here's what's going to happen: I'll finish my training with Elara which will take about a week, Luna will train people to replace her at the clinic and you... you'll leave for New Texas tomorrow.

You will pout and sulk, Luna will be annoying and Bella will... who cares what she's going to do, but you'll still do as I say."

"And what if we don't? Huh?" Nika challenged.

"Then I'll make you." Uriel said with a smile that showed how serious he was. It wasn't the usual crooked smile, but the kind of smile he made whenever he fought against a strong enemy. It was a smile that called for blood, one that said he wasn't just willing to fight her but actually thrilled to do so.
