Chapter 685 - 685: Professor Nika is back

The entire cafeteria fell silent when Nika intervened, but it soon returned to normal after she dragged Uriel outside the building assuming he would face disciplinary actions for acting against one of the most wealthy students in college.

It didn't matter who was to blame in that situation, opposing those who invested in research would only make Professors angry.

It was unfair which would have likely garnered Uriel some approval from the students who came from the slums or even middle class, if not for the fact that in this occasion the one at fault was Uriel as he unwittingly sat in a reserved spot and instead of apologizing only made things worse.

"What are you doing here!?" Uriel growled at Nika at the same time he pulled back his arm.

"What does it look I'm doing?" Nika pointed at her attire which was comprised of a pencil skirt, a white shirt buttoned up to the top, high heels and small round glasses which along with her hair styled in a bun made her look like the ultimate teacher. "I'm a professor." She said after noticing Uriel didn't change his expression.

"Do you think you can just waltz in here after ghosting me for months!?"

"And do you think I'll let you walk over me like before? The least you could do is thank me." She crossed her arms.

"Why would I? I wasn't finished." Uriel too crossed his arms.

"Yeah, you were. One more word and you would have ruined everything!"

"I meant my breakfast, dumbass!" Uriel's stomach bellowed an angry growl that eclipsed his own voice.

"My bad." She stuck her tongue out and winked in a form of apologize Uriel didn't found amusing.

"If you're back it can only mean you found her, right?"

"We shouldn't discuss anything further," Nika turned her head from side to side before pretending to scold Uriel in a loud voice. "this time I'll let you off with a warning, but next time I won't be so lenient."

"What do I have to do to get scolded by her?" One of the students witnessing the scene said loud enough for Nika to hear.

"You just have to piss off the Hathaway conglomerate." She smiled eerily making the poor student flinch and disappear in seconds.

Uriel stood dumbfounded as he watched Nika sway her hips away without paying any attention to the pitying gazes directed at him. He had no clue what that conglomerate was, though something in his gut told him he would soon find out.

"Oh, well..." Uriel dismissed the matter and walked to the next class. Uriel had no need for the salary he earned as Professor Pangeotis' assistant and the actual reason he accepted his request was because it was the easiest way to go back to college.

Needless to say, he also didn't have any need to do any actual studying since he had more than made up for the lost time with both his theoretical and practical experience. However, that didn't mean he couldn't benefit from the college library which albeit decimated, remained the biggest node of knowledge Uriel could imagine.

It also allowed him to take any class like a regular student without many of the requirements such as the minimum attendance required. The fact that he also didn't need to put a dime of his own pocket to do so made Uriel more than happy to work for the professor he always respected.

Uriel didn't so much as bat an eye when the professor in charge of the combat class turned out to be Nika, though he was shocked to find none other than the same guy who barked at him at the cafeteria. What shocked him even more were the events that followed as the young man walked directly towards him.

"I'm sorry for going off at you, I hope it didn't cause you too much trouble." The young man apologized and Uriel lingered for a few seconds before shaking the hand extended to him by the young man.

"If you're sorry, then let's leave it in the past." Uriel replied without taking his eyes from the man standing in front of him. They were barely the same height with Uriel being taller for just a couple centimeters, but the same applied in the strength of his flux energy signature which took him aback.

Uriel was by no means among the strongest heavenly rank hunters, at least not in quantitative terms. But he wasn't among the weakest either as his flux energy reserve far surpassed that of hunters who had reached the heavenly rank far before him.

"Alright students, today's class will be purely theoretical, but from here on you should bring a few changes of clothes... and your weapons of choice." Nika's mischievous smile charmed some of the students, but not Uriel.

He cringed at the memory of the first class he took with her and he feared she might try something funny like then, but his fears dissipated once she started her explanation.

It was easy to understand and to the point, though most of what she said was considered common sense by anyone with any hunting experience. It took Uriel but a glance to spot those who were veteran hunters despite their young age, those who had survived through the downfall of the city and the clueless students who came from other megacities.

Nika's class was concise and finished right before noon which meant she had probably rehearsed it multiple times to fit all the information she could in an introductory class, something that Uriel appreciated. He knew she had little experience as a professor and probably put a lot of effort in preparing her class.

"I wonder if he's still in charge of the physical training class..." Uriel muttered wishing he could pay a visit to Captain Silvermane and maybe work out a little. Unfortunately for Uriel, now that he was Professor Pangeotis' assistant time became a luxury he couldn't afford to waste with sentimentalism.
