Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Further Improvement

Ethan exhaled, and a white mist puffed out from his mouth. Looking at the vast expanse of white all around, he felt quite comfortable standing in the yard, admiring the snowy scenery.

As his body had grown stronger, this little bit of cold no longer bothered him. The thick jacket he wore was less for warmth and more to avoid looking out of place.

"The heavy snow has blocked the road?"

The small town Ada had found was located in a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides, with only one road leading out. If that road was blocked by heavy snow, the only ways to leave or enter the town would be by plane or by climbing over the surrounding mountains.

If their location were exposed, staying here would feel like being trapped.

But the current situation was different. Ethan and the others hadn’t exposed their whereabouts at all. According to the information Ada had gathered, after the Federation obtained various intel from Leon, they had been searching for Ethan and the others during this time, but winter arrived before they could locate them.

"That means until winter passes, we won’t be disturbed."

"You can use this last period of quiet time to complete your experiments. Once the weather warms and the snow melts, we’ll have to leave immediately."

Things weren’t going well for Umbrella, and they didn’t have the energy to cause trouble. But the Federation hadn’t given up on their search, especially for Ethan. Some officials half-believed the idea of a mage from another world, while others suspected Leon had gone mad from the horrors of Raccoon City.

But if one person went mad, did all the survivors go mad too? So even though many didn’t believe a mage from another world existed, Ethan’s abilities—whatever they were—still warranted attention.

Since Federation agents were actively searching for him, Ada’s safe house, though remote, was still too close to Raccoon City. For safety’s sake, they would have to relocate.

"So you’d better plan ahead. Don’t get caught mid-experiment when we need to leave."

"Actually, there’s no need to worry. I’ve already sorted through the virus samples. Even the G-virus has been refined into a serum. There aren’t many experiments left. What’s left is just slowly using up these serums."

"It’s already done?"

Ethan’s experiments had always been carried out in the Mirror Dimension. Neither Ada nor Annette knew the specific progress or what kind of research he was conducting.

She couldn’t have imagined that in just a few months, Ethan had already refined those viruses into serums with no side effects.

Could this mage also be a top-tier scientist?

"You might be misunderstanding my experiments. My method of creating serums is quite different from the scientific processes you’re familiar with."

The reason things went so smoothly was because he had previously worked with the movie version of the T-virus to create various enhancements. Although the T-virus here was slightly different, much of it was the same, allowing him to quickly resolve minor side effects and refine serums that could enhance his physical fitness and mental power.

As for the G-virus? It was essentially an advanced variant of the T-virus. Ethan had focused on the part that stimulated human mutation and eventually succeeded in extracting and refining it into a serum that accelerated physical development.

This serum didn’t drastically alter his potential. It couldn’t turn a bucket into a barrel, but it could take a twenty-centimeter-tall bucket and make it twenty-one centimeters.

It didn’t expand his upper limits much. Its primary effect was to "fill" his unused potential.

The previous serums he made using divine blood had greatly expanded his potential, but the new serums were more for converting that potential into actual power. Their biggest function was accelerating his physical maturity.

Of course, he hadn’t used this serum yet, because once he did, his body would undergo obvious changes, and his appearance would be further optimized.

His height would increase again. At that point, Ethan would finally no longer be at the same height as Ada or Diana, who always wore high heels. Even if he couldn’t match Loki or Logan, he could at least be on par with Captain America.

As for things like rapid regeneration, those effects had already been included in the previous serum. The overall improvement in physical condition naturally boosted his recovery rate. His current regeneration was already much better than a normal person’s.

Therefore, Ethan modified the G-virus’s regenerative function to change from passive to active. After using this serum, when injured, he could let his body recover naturally, or he could consume large amounts of energy to instantly regenerate within seconds.

For an ordinary person, such consumption would require a huge intake of food. But Ethan could use energy like magic power to support this active regeneration.

This meant that from now on, as long as he wasn’t instantly killed, and his magic power wasn’t completely drained (and if necessary, he could even draw magic power from other planes), killing him would be extremely difficult.

These were the results of the past few months. In other words, the purpose of coming to this world had basically been fulfilled. In the remaining months, what he needed to do was continue training while using the large number of serums he had made. There were too many of them to take all at once. Each dose required time to digest.

Although each dose only slightly increased his mental power, and the effects diminished with each use, Ethan estimated that in a few months, even before the serums were fully consumed, they would stop working on him entirely.

Since he could gain significant strength improvement in just a few months, there was no reason to waste the opportunity. He would stay in this world until everything was done before leaving.

Of course, that included getting this agent onto his ship.

"Interested in a shot?"

Ethan casually took out a small vial, no bigger than his little finger. Inside was half a tube of purple liquid, which sloshed gently as he moved.

It didn’t look like anything special, but Ada’s eyes locked onto it and didn’t look away.

"This is your result?"

"One of them."

The one in Ethan’s hand was merely a byproduct of the serum refined for his own use. Its effects weren’t as powerful as the primary serum meant for him.

However, this version also had no side effects. This small vial alone could bring an ordinary person’s physical fitness to the human limit. For someone with high potential, they might even exceed human limits after using it.

More importantly, this serum wouldn’t damage the user’s physique or appearance. It enhanced the body without altering one’s original looks—intelligence not included.

Ethan estimated that someone like Ada, who could perform high-difficulty acrobatic maneuvers with ease, after using this serum, could rely on her experience and combat skills to fight Captain America on equal footing.

Considering Captain America always lacked a finishing move, he might not be able to truly defeat an enhanced Ada.

Ethan suddenly realized that constantly using Captain America as a benchmark might not be fair, but after thinking it over, he felt that—aside from wealth—Steve was a decent standard when it came to physical strength, appearance, and overall combat capability.

Since he couldn’t think of a better reference, he decided to keep using Captain America for now.

"Worst case, I’ll just apologize to Steve the next time I see him."

Considering Steve’s upstanding nature, maybe he’d make a pretty powerful Paladin.

As for whether wielding the power of the Holy Light would attract the Burning Legion or similar entities, Ethan couldn’t be bothered to care. After all, the Marvel Universe was filled with powerful beings, and one more Burning Legion wouldn’t change much. It might even encourage an alliance between Azeroth and the Marvel Universe.

With these random thoughts swirling in his head, he explained the vial’s function to Ada in detail.

Ada had previously worried that a single injection might turn her into a monster. As a woman, she was very concerned about her appearance.

After learning there were no negative effects, it was impossible not to be tempted.

Even ignoring the physical enhancements, the fact that this serum could maintain peak condition longer and significantly slow the aging process was enough to make her want to inject it immediately.

"Women."

Ethan had talked about strength improvements for a while, and Ada had remained calm. But the moment he mentioned slowing aging and extending youth, her eyes lit up with barely concealed excitement.

"What do you want in return?"

Ada didn’t believe Ethan would be so generous as to give her such a precious serum for free. The fact that he took it out and showed it to her meant he definitely had some intention.

She had already guessed that Ethan’s target might be her, and she wasn’t surprised by that. After so many years as a spy, she had dealt with countless people trying to get close to her, so Ethan was just one more.

But compared to those others, Ethan’s identity was a little more... unique.
